Lets out a number of common situations around the house
Unlike some kits, this kit has the extractors only, not a drill paired with each extractor. If you have gotten yourself into this kind of trouble, you are very likely to have the drills already. There are no instructions, but you can find them on the web fairly easily. There are 5 extractors covering the larger range of screws and smaller range of bolts. I haven't experimented enough to see how small they go, but it visually looks like you couldn't go smaller than #8 or #10 standard screw. (The extractor is supposed to be smaller than the screw you are extracting.) That lets out a number of common situations around the house that have small screws. This company has a number of larger sizes, but no smaller ones.

Great Product to Have in Your Toolbox
I got this for my husband. Here are his thoughts: I really appreciate well built tools that can cover my ass when things go wrong. Some extractors I've used over the years do not and will not dig in and work. They simply round over leaving you with more work. These extractors dig in well and are a soft enough grade steel that they do not snap off, yet hard enough to take a good hit with a hammer to sink them into the work piece. The basics of an extractor for those of you newer DIY folks: Bolt head breaks off or the hex corners get rounded over. You pre-drill a pilot hole in the center of the bolt. Select the right extractor. Obviously, you will not use the smallest one for an inch diameter bolt. The extractor will not be able to handle the torque to successfully turn the bolt out. You want at least 1/3 of the spiraled flute to be imbedded into the pre-drilled hole. Tap it with a hammer to seat it in there good, and to start the digging in process. Also, the vibration of the impact usually jolts the bolt and helps free up whatever was jamming it to begin with, such as rust. Attach a tap handle (or vice grips work in a pinch) to the square shank. Apply good, even pressure downward and counter clockwise to extract the damaged bolt. Sometimes heat may need to be applied or a spray on rust penetrator.

Can't take out the screw
They don't work at all and flat the screw instead.

If you do any kind of home repair or DIY, you need a screw extractor set
This Qualtech Screw Extractor Set, #1-5 Sizes from Drill America is a super handy, compact set that is designed to remove stripped or broken screws. These are made of heat treated carbon steel so they are tough and should last forever with appropriate care. I keep my carbon steel tools lightly oiled to prevent rust and they are pretty much indestructible. The 5 extractors come in a small, plastic pouch so they will always be together, ready for use. If you've never used a screw extractor before, it's a fairly simple process. There are plenty of YouTube videos that demonstrate the process very clearly. This particular set is designed for use with a drill. There are others that have a hole in the top so you can use them manually but this set does not. You will also need a center punch, some safety goggles, some thread cutting oil, an appropriate sized drill bit and some penetrating oil if the screw you are extracting is rusted. All of these items (except the drill) are quite inexpensive and you can use for other tasks. If you do any kind of home repair or DIY, you need a screw extractor set and this is a good one.

Love these! Wish I had them years ago.
I absolutely love these. I've never used a screw extractor before, but I thought I'd give these a shot with all the DYI stuff that I do around the house. And let me tell you, these are amazing. I didn't know what I was missing by not having a screw extractor set all these years. I don't need these often, but when I do, I'm so thankful to have these. These are made of carbon steel and feel durable as all get out. I've heard of other people snapping their extractor sets easily before which is why I never really bought a set, but I have no doubt that these will last for years to come. I would definitely suggest watched a YouTube video or going to a DYI forum before using these as the visual is helpful. There is a process to get these to work right and to using the right size on whatever screw you're extracting, but once you have the process down these work like a charm. Anybody who does DYI or construction knows what a pain in the butt a stuck/broken/stripped screw is, and these definitely belong in your tool belt. For the durability and usefulness, these are a great price. Definitely worth the purchase. Don't make my same mistake and get yourself a set of these sooner than later and save yourself some heartache.

not worth the time or money
the drill bits are literally the worst I've ever used. they cant hold and edge I had to sharpen them 5 times to drill a 1/8 inch. the taps are sub par as well. the 2 smallest taps cracked as soon as I began to turn them. fortunately I heard the crack and was able to back off before they broke off down the hole. I really only needed them for one job and I was able to complete the job but I wont be buying them again.

Seems cheap when they arrived
I haven't used the product yet. Initial impressions are that the plastic case is cheap. Plastic already wrecked. Size to drill bolt out to only engraved on one which is a different colour of gray. I engraved this on the rest. No documentation came with the product. Do like look like they are quality spiral extractors. Will update when I use them.
