Effective, but quickly used up
I like these for cleaning up metal surfaces in preparation for a more thorough sanding or coating. They work very well for this on the dremel - I can quickly and easily prep irregular surfaces which would take me a great deal of elbow grease otherwise. I wouldn't use these for the initial abrasion on heavily rusted surfaces - that would heed a flap wheel or similar - but after all the initial material is removed these can be used to bring the surface to a dull shine. They are very quickly exhausted, I've found them to wear out within a minute or two of continuous use if I am working with metal. If the job is not so demanding, you will get much more out of them, several jobs anyway. So purchase a few if you have a job to do. They are a bit pricey for what they are, but they are so effective I don't mind. Just make sure you have the EZ-lock adapter for your dremel, if you need it. Would recommend wearing protective eyewear, a dust mask, and possibly gloves with these. They don't throw metal like cheap wire wheels, but they seem to kick up quite a volume of particulates. I know that it triggers my allergies, I end up sneezing and congested if I don't wear a face covering. Results may vary. Ultimately, would recommend.

Buy a Bunch of These
I bought these little rotary steel wool puffs-on-a-stick one afternoon when I was finishing up a gold, twisted ring and I noticed that my old two were shot. So shot that they were worn down to the hard piece in the center that I did not know was there before. The very next day, they came and I was excited. I got to work, using the dark one; all the while, wondering why I paid no attention to the directions, that said to let the rotary tool run a bit before using the steel wool on a surface. Well, I didn't. When I finished, I noticed that I really used a lot of this new puff. It was half the size it was when I started. At this rate, I should have ordered a dozen of these. They do a nice job of smoothing the surface of metals, whether they are of the harder variety or of the softer, precious metals. I have used them to blur a surface on PVC, as well. Works nicely. When I have used these up, I will return to my review and add to it. This is what I often do with a product that I really like, to which I have not given five stars.

Not really worth it.
Was hoping for a good finish sanding tool but these wear out really fast, and I was just going lightly over plexiglass. I won't buy again because I just won't get much mileage out of them.

Excellent, BUT
These really do the job of cleaning and are not expensive. I recommend purchasing 2-3 sets depending on how large of project you are tackling.

I go through these several at a time, but they're great.
I use the heck out of these for cleaning grout. They are really perfect for this task, except they aren't durable. I realize there has to be a balance between removing grout and removing travertine, and somewhere in the middle of that has to be destruction of buffing wheels. Still though, it would be nice to either 1) have these purchasable in a multi-pack composed of just one type, or 2) singly at least. As it is, I grudgingly use the gray one and it lasts a couple of feet (of grout-removal), and then I swap on a beige one and that lasts a few more feet, and on and on. In terms of use for other things, such as rust-removal, they're fine for final or near-final work. For heavy removal, these will be destroyed far too soon. The gray one smooths paint, and isn't particularly useful for initial removal unless the paint is loose already. In the scheme of "consumable" items, these rate very high on "consumable" and fairly moderate to low on durable. But they're the only game in town. I like what they do; it's just their durability that I wish were improved.

Handy, quick change dremel attachments
Excellent pieces to add to my Dremel accessories, as I didn't yet have any course buffing wheels. I love the EZ Lock system too, which makes quick bit swaps take much less time. Very happy with them!

These things are not very durable but when you have a hard to reach place nothing works any better. They do work very well.

Works very well, love EZ-Lock technology
Any of the EZ-Lock tools are great. They are easy to change and don't vibrate as much as the traditional mounted ones. This buffing wheel has a decent product life and and works very well.
