Great Oven-Lock
I looked all over for a great oven lock. My house is set up that the living room and kitchen are one long large room so it is no simple matter to baby gate the entrance to the kitchen. So I needed to make sure that when we were baking something in the oven my little one could be safe. Having a boy, means that everything they do, is about opening.. shutting.. and figuring things out constantly. So I knew it was only a matter of time before he realized that the oven opened. Not something I want to have happen while it's on. Having searched amazon for a while, I finally came across this lock. I liked that it went in the center of the stove. Where it was most likely to stop anyone from opening it. There are a lot of straps out there, that attatch to the side of your stove and connect to your door. But .. my stove, like many I'm sure, is sandwiched between two cabinets, there is no way I'm getting a strap on the side. So when I saw this and how easy it was going to be to open and close the stove afterwards, I was sold. It was so easy to install. I cleaned the stove area, let it dry and then applied the adhesive backed baby lock. You're supposed to wait 24 hours before using the oven, but that wasn't so hard. After that, we've had it for months now and I've not had a single problem. It is easy to turn to open for adults. If a child figured it out, it would probably be easy for them, so far my little one just knows the oven doesn't open and is now getting old enough to understand that it's hot and not for little ones. But we still use the lock because I would rather have it than risk it. It's definatly worth the money, and I think that it's one of the best out there.

Effective (at least when two are used)
I have an older 1960-era gas oven, and used two of these on my broiler drawer, one on each side. As soon as she could inchworm, around 5 months, my daughter discovered that pulling on this spring-action door makes a delightful "bang!" and she would go over there and do it over and over if I let her. Traditional top-mount locks would not work because the door to the broiler is just below the oven door. I installed two of these on the broiler because I was afraid that if my kid really wanted in, the force might break against a lock on just one end. These are not as tough as the hinge-style oven locks, and I can see how some reviewers had trouble if only one was used in a situation with substantial leverage against it. I installed one lock on either side of the door. They do allow a tiny bit of movement, so that my daughter sometimes still tries the door because she likes the banging noise of pulling on it and letting it go. But it's a lesser noise now, and no risk that the springing action will trap tiny fingers or a face. It's an effective deterrent because the satisfaction of the major spring action has been removed, and she gets bored after one or two tries. After about six months, they are still effective. However, the green/red indicator on one of them stopped working and now shows the opposite color of what it should (shows red when properly engaged). But it still works fine to keep the door shut.

Didn't fit my oven... but I found a way
The space between the oven door and the smooth flat surface above it where the swivel oven lock can be installed is too wide for the lock to stop the oven door from being pulled open. This space is 2cm( a little less than an inch) wide on my oven. Now don't let that deter you from purchasing this product. The reason the gap above my oven door is so wide, i realized, is because of the oven lock that must be engaged to use the self cleaning feature on my oven. Now this particular oven lock was not enough to stop my 20 month old son from opening my oven, all you have to do is slide it back and forth to lock and unlock the oven door. In fact one of his favorite pasttimes is doing this, along with putting his cup into the oven. Here is my solution for those of you with a similar problem. Engage the self cleaning lock on your oven and attach the Dreambaby Swivel Oven Lock in a location that when turned to the locked position will prevent the self cleaning oven lock from being slid back into the open position. I hope this description makes sense. I tried to differenciate between the 2 locks so as not to confuse anyone. So in the end you will have to lock the oven lock, then turn the Deambaby Swivel lock into the locked position and (TADA!) combined my son cannot open the oven door. Any questions, just ask!

Kids can unlock it
We needed to replace the oven lock we've used for the last 5 years as the adhesive had finally given out. They no longer make the one we had, so I bought this as an alternative. My 5 year old and 2 year old were immediately able to open the lock. A young baby wouldn't be able to, but it didn't seem to take much effort for my boys. Since I mostly need it for when my toddler randomly tries to hang from the over door, it'll be adequate for our needs. I don't need to worry about my kids purposefully opening the oven at this point (I hope...). If you are trying to actively deter a mischievous kid that really wants to get into the oven, I'd skip this one.

Good but not great.
I'm using these to keep my little one from opening his dresser drawers. The child proof squeeze to turn does not have to be engaged in order to turn it , just applying a little pressure is enough to bypass the child lock. It currently works to keep our 10mos old out of the drawers. Not sure for how much longer though. Compared to our actual oven lock, my hubs would easily snap this one apart if he forgot to unlock it before pulling open the oven door.

The product seems great... for a different oven.
The space between where the product is mounted and the top of the oven door is too great and therefore causes the product to not work as intended. I was afraid of this happening before I ordered it, but really liked the design and thought I'd try it anyway. With a little force you can easily open the door even with it in the "locked" position (one of the first few days we had it I forgot it was there and managed to open the oven even with it locked). On the bright side, just the presence of the lock has deterred our youngest from attempting to open the oven. It does provide a little resistance so I'm sure that helps.

Don't waste you money!
This product is not worth it. Adhesive is not at all strong. My son was able to open the oven and this lock just popped right off. Don't waste your money!

Buy something else for an oven lock
This product is terrible. It didn't work at all for us. It didn't stick well at all to the oven. I would never buy this product again.

Little tight
Little tight turning to lock/unlock may loosen some in time but seems to do the job.
