Runs on the Large side and rubs against the heel of your foot
I love the shoes but have to do something about the inside of the heel so it doesn't tear the back of my foot to shreds. Which is why I only gave it 4 stars. They do run on the big side so I probably could have ordered at least a half size down without a problem. They are comfortable and sturdy.

I WAS SOLD FAKE DOCS?!
The first pair I got might have been inauthentic, sold by NetRush, for a handful of reasons. 1. I bought it new and it came in an Amazon shoe box, no tags or stickers on the shoe. 2. The tag is an ironed on with what seems to be a white vinyl transfer that says Made in China. The real ones seem to have the tag stamped on the tongue, Made in Vietnam. Although I cannot speculate the official location of non-made in England Docs; It’s safe to say that I’ve never encountered a white printed on tag before, and these next few points will hopefully persuade you to legit check your shoes before wearing them out. 3. The moulding of the sole seems to have all these circle injection marks, which I haven’t seen on any of my previous docs, plus the grid pattern in the outsole is tighter on the authentic. I compared them with my 1460 boots, and the pattern on the authentic ones match it more similarly, and I bought the boots directly from a Dr. Marten’s store 4. The stamp on the insole is larger in the authentic. This really might vary on shoe sizes, but from my research it seems that the stamp goes edge to edge along the dotted insole. I cannot say for certain if the first ones I received were inauthentic or not. But to prevent this from happening to you, make sure the seller Amazon is fulfilling from is an verified Dr. Marten’s dealer. The authentic pair I got was from Tilly’s and I know for a fact they are a certified DM’s dealer. Docs are a worthwhile investment that should last you years, so make sure what you’re getting is the real deal! Hope this helps!

My Favorite Shoes
I mentally prepared myself for a break in period having previously been warned, but, from day 1, these shoes have been super comfortable. If I were to offer advice to anyone considering these shoes I would suggest ordering the European size (if possible). I sold European shoes for 40+ years and know that the US sizing that is listed for these shoes is not accurate with the size they choose to send (e.g. a ladies US size 9 shoe is equivalent to a 40 European size).

Nice shoes
These are really nice shoes, but the back of the shoe can cause blisters depending on your heel height. So maybe use Dr Scholl's insoles, a must for this pair. Very comfortable and durable.

One major flaw
I have unusually shaped, quite wide feet and it is very difficult to find comfortable shoes. There are a couple brands that I can rely on that just seem to have a format that they follow, regardless of actual "model," where they tend to just fit. For this reason I haven't bought a lot of new shoes, and as old standbys fall out of production I have an increasingly limited number of shoes I can replace them with. Over the years, I've had many friends get Docs and have been relatively pleased with them, so I thought I'd give them a shot since they were reputed as being comfortable. Unlike Eccos, which are my usual go-to, they are made of reasonably hard leather and have a pretty long breaking-in process. My biggest complaint, however, is the backs of the heels. The stitching in the middle, along the back, is very hard, and very sharp. After only a couple days they had irritated my Achilles' tendons very severely, and I was worried that they wouldn't be tenable in the long term. Instead, I invested in some heel liners and it made a world of difference. Most of the shoes I've worn besides these have had cushioned, slightly raised heel backs. Without that, the heel liners have been a necessity. But besides that one complaint, I'm glad to have found another brand of shoes that fit my feet, and more importantly, the soles of the shoes themselves are very comfortable and I can spend a lot of time on my feet without feeling any fatigue. And, at the price they're at, I can afford to potentially replace them more than once every two or three years. Only time will tell how long the soles hold up, but they are at least thicker than the soles on the Eccos, which wear through in only about a year.

Beautiful! I love them!
Beautiful! I love them! Lifelong fan of Doc Martens and I needed a pair of 'dress shoes' for a new office position, so I went out shopping for Docs. The females in my life suggested that "Docs are not proper dress shoes because of the Ugly Yellow Stitching!" going even further as to suggest they're not even appropriate for a business casual environment. I disagreed and love the yellow stitching but not wanting to under-dress I reluctantly listened and bought some square Frankenstein-looking Italian dress shoes at the mall. Dark days followed. THE SUN FINALLY ROSE! the day I saw these beauty Docs WITHOUT THE UGLY YELLOW STITCHING yet super durable comfortable quality like 1960's British policemen and policewomen and postmen and postwomen used to wear! So eat it the females in my life! And eat their words they did as they admitted upon seeing these puppies that "They are really nice looking dress shoes!"
