Works fine but can break if overloaded.
I bought two of these, for 22’ boats of different weights. They are used on a large lake and each boat has whips. One snubber is working fine after two years. The other, placed on an older and much heavier boat, snapped under load. I’m not sure how I could have used it any differently, so now I know not to try it on especially heavy boats.

Absorbs the Shock of the Surges in the Marina on a 40 ft Yacht Using 3/4 inch Rope. Works Great!
We have been using these snubbers for about 3 months now. They work great! We have a 40 ft yacht and we live on it. The rope we are using with the snubbers is 3/4 inch. We bought four to use on each side and end of the boat. We live in a marina in Southern California, so we don't get extreme weather, but we definitely have surges in the marina. All of a sudden you will feel a hard jerk on the boat. Since we live on the boat, we are familiar with the surges that come and go with the tide all day and night. We bought the snubbers because of a recommendation from the people living in our slip right before us. We are a little more exposed to the open ocean than other slips in the marina, so more susceptible to the wind. We can definitely feel the difference since we put them on. The snubbers takes some of the shock so it doesn't put the full impact on the cleet. I have read other reviewes saying that they wore out quickly, but we have not seen any deterioration in the time we have had them. Would definitely buy them again to absorb the shock of the surges in the marina.

REVISED: Dock Edge beat Taylor Made...so far -CORRECTION - TaylorMade still holding strong
When new, this is the best of the two types of snubbers. I have on my 47' sailboat docked in a heavy surge marina. Easier to work with and longer than the comparable Taylor Made 5/8 dock snubber. I have a pair of both on my lines, but so far the quality, size and easy of use make the Dock Edge snubber better for my purpose. Six months after installation, Dock Edge is still doing well but is stating to show potential issues. The top loop on one of the Dock Edge snubbers split open, although it still holds the line fine. There also seems to be some wear on the shaft from lines tightening during surge loads. The comparable Taylor Made snubbers seem to look brand new after six months, handling the surge well. The past six month have had mild surge in our marina. Now that summer is starting, the surge frequency and tension is intensified. I will update as I learn more, but I am thinking the Taylor Made will last longer. UPDATE 8/1/2019 - Dock Edge broke while Taylor Made show no sign of stress or wear. Equal time in the conditions on the same boat. This Dock Edge is in the trash. For short term, it was great. I installed 2 of each. The other Dock Edge is still ok, but neither are holding up like the Taylor Made.

Great product and great quality
These are great. I have 3 of these on my 38 foot boat. I would definitely recommend to folks who have creaky ropes. I can sleep through the night now that I am not woken up by the wakes rolling in. The price is a little much...but the quality thus far seems good. I have had these for about 10 months and the rubber still looks strong and no sign of cracks. I have notice the way I am tied off I have two of these on port and stern side of the bow. I wonder if they sometimes create a pendulum effect by one stretching and then the other transferring that forcing into the opposing side and so forth. I have not done any test to decide that this is true...but it seems possible.

Glad I had them during major storm...
Yesterday morning my marina on Lake Travis near Austin was hit by an unexpected storm which tore many of the anchor cables loose from the marina. The entire marina pancaked together and was driven up on shore. I live aboard and was there during the storm. I was amazed at how well these snubbers did to help cushion the blow to my 355 Carver Aft cabin. Yes they are twisted like cheese curls but they did their job remarkably well. I would definitely buy them again.

An absolute must-have for any boater.
These snubbers are effective both in use and in terms of cost. We use these doubled up for tight berths and high traffic waterways. The basic idea behind these is that if you're berthing close enough to your dock to get off the boat without major incident, you're likely using short lines to do so. Those line, if they're good, don't stretch very much. In rougher waters, areas with wake, or even in changing winds, the boat will move a bit violently, stressing the cleats and other deck hardware as well as dock, pilings, and dock hardware. These snubbers act like the suspension in your car, allowing some cushioning to protect the boat and hardware from shock, loosening, and sheared bolts (or destroyed superstructure).

Perfect for my searay
20 ft searay is protected by the snubber. There is a significant difference when waves pull the boat with these versus just regular dock rope. I will never go back to regular rope again
