Old School Shimano Freewheel Removal Tool
For the uninitiated (me about two days ago) this tool fits the "old style" Shimano cassette. This is for removing a threaded cassette. "New style" cassettes have a lock ring and the cassette itself is not threaded. Both tools are 12 spline, but the older style is a slightly smaller diameter. This tool worked perfectly on my 1987ish Shimano cassette.

Center hole was too small...
I finally got it to work but spent over a half hour with a file reaming out the hole so it would fit over the axel and get to the cassette. Once it engaged the gears it fit and I was able to remove it. So.. make sure you're aware that this thing has a smaller hole that may not fit your axel and engage the cassette.

Only 11mm axle hole, why!!
I could not use it, it simply does not fit on my 12mm axle. And even if it did it would be rather short, and there would probably be only 3mm left where I could grab it with the wrench, unless I would only stick it in half length, increasing the risk of stripping. I give it 5 stars for sturdiness: I tried with a brand new and sharp steel drill to scratch off some material to widen the axle hole. It does not budge, the drill is weaker than this tool.

Worked
I had to replace an axle on my bike and had to remove my Shimano free-wheel. I had to use a breaker bar to get it off, not the tools fault, but the tool is small and kept slipping. I finally put it on a vice and got a better angle. The tool worked for what I needed it for, but it was almost not deep enough to get a good grip on the nut.

It works
Works ,its a bit loose but didn't have a issue with it , I'd recommend using a socket wrench, but I did use a adjustable without even scratching the paint on the Shimano socket bit , adjust your wrench till I'll tight , or use the right size hand wrench or socket bit n you won't have a problem , I'll be using to switch cog gears on my single speed mountain bike for different gear ratios

Definitely not for 70s era shimano freewheels
I bought this on the advice of another reviewer who said it's for vintage bikes with shimano freewheels - this is not true for my Japanese-built early 70s road bike (need an even smaller diameter, can't seem to buy anywhere). Other than that, it seems ok but is not as solid as my similar park tool. Assuming it will wear poorly with use.

It works
Not the best quality, but it works. How many times could this be used? I don’t know, but most people probably won’t use it more than a couple of times—myself included. And the cost is low. It probably wouldn’t last long at a bike repair shop.

This is a "UNIVERSAL" ( in bad sence of this word) Cassette-Freewheel Remover
It's not a Freewheel Remover, but this is a "UNIVERSAL" ( in bad sence of this word) Cassette-Freewheel Remover. It loose for the freewheel and the ribs were not so robusts for cassette and stripped almost immediately when trying to use it after the first attempt. Would not recommend buying it.

Doesn’t work in shallow nuts
Don’t buy this one if your axle nut stops the socket from going at least 1/8” deep into the cassette nut. The tapered end just slips and you can’t get enough torque on the nut to break it free. I had to cut off the tapered end with a hacksaw before it worked. Otherwise it seems fine.
