Attractive, Good on Both Sides but Shrinks a Bit.

I immediately loved the plaid pattern on the DII Mountain Trail cloth napkins. Colorful and decorative and the pattern and color is easy to match in our homes motif. We washed one of the the DII napkins per the instructions to compare to a new one and was fairly happy with the results. Read on for our evaluation. -- ATTRACTIVE: In general these are very attractive napkins. The plaid and red to white colors make for a wonderful look when added to a place setting. -- WASHED FINE: I wanted to see how they would stand up to washing. After one wash the napkins were still colorful with just a hint of fade when compared to the unwashed one. I suspect after several washes it will begin to fade more and more. -- SHRINKS A BIT: After the wash when comparing to the new napkin the washed napkin shrank about 10% in both dimensions. Not a big deal and one would expect some shrinkage with 100% cotton if not prewashed as these napkins are not. -- GOOD INSIDE OR OUTSIDE: Due to the design and sewing technique both sides of the napkin look equally good. -- FOLD OVER EDGES: The edges are made with a 1/2" foldover and a single threaded seam to hold it in place and this seam did hold in place after the wash. -- GOOD WASH INSTRUCTIONS: Unlike other instructions from foreign manufacturers (India in this case) that are indecipherable hieroglyphics, these instructions are in plain english, easy to read and state cold gentle wash, warm gentle dry. -- NEEDS IRONING: After the wash, will need to be ironed. Even if machine drying at a setting that supposedly reduces wrinkles ironing will still be necessary. -- SOME LOOSE THREADS: There were some loose threads left over from the sewing that were not cut off. One was about 6" long. CONCLUSION: I like these towels and the plaid pattern is good on both sides. I hold back 1 star for the shrinkage and loose threads.

100% Cotton

I lived in England in the 80’s and learned to appreciate serviettes, aka cotton napkins. We were gifted silver napkin rings decades ago and on “date” night for forty years the cotton serviettes come out, wrapped in antique silver napkin rings and grace our table. Normally, I like white but it’s nice to change things now and then, so we have a few other napkins I am willing to use but most just don’t cut muster. If you add polyester they no longer are soft nor absorbent. These napkins are soft and absorbent. They are the perfect size and look nice on a table in the north woods. We will love them on our table for years to come (and I might add their companions, the moose napkins). The downside to these napkins is they do wrinkle. I washed them at a normal warm temperature. Dried them for 30 minutes and removed them from the dryer. I then hung them on a rack to finish drying after shaking them out thoroughly. I will add photos and you will see they are wrinkled. I’m not put off by the “character” in the cotton fabric and will use them happily but, for some, this would be a negative and I need to mention it. Overall, they are a five star purchase and I would recommend them to anyone who likes useful napkins not just pretty additions to the table that no one will want to use.

Soft - Wash Up Well - Nice Pattern

When I first got these I thought they were way too big compared to what we are used to using, but once I washed them and dried them, they shrank to 18x18 which to me is the appropriate size. I wash all my napkins in hot water and dry in a hot dryer because I am more interested in them being clean and sanitized than looking perfect. I felt that these did not wrinkle up a lot and could easily be smoothed out by hand or with a mister bottle. The one in my photo has been washed and I did not iron it. I especially love how soft these are. We actually use our cloth napkins ...they are not just for show, and these feel soft when I wipe my mouth, hands, or face with them. I also like the pattern because lets face it, over time these will get some stains, and a pattern will make it not show up as much as a solid color I feel these are a great value for 6 quality cotton napkins that will last me for years to come! If you can't find fabric for face masks, you can use these!

These napkins wash well, and when social distancing isn't a thing any more, they'll work great for family gatherings. They do come out of the dryer wrinkled, but a quick pass with my steam iron, and the napkins were ready to go. Since I can't find suitable fabric for making face masks at my local fabric store, I cut these napkins into face masks. I used the free duckbill face mask pattern that I found Online. The fabric is thick enough (and tightly woven) so I can make the masks without a third layer. If you want a third layer, you can use interfacing or an old sheet set. When using the extra large pattern, I can make 9 masks from the six napkins. When using the large (typical adult) size, I can make 12 face masks out of these napkins. This gives me an outer and inside layer. I used fabric-covered hair elastics for the ear pieces, and I use my sewing machine's zipper foot to sew the elastics into the casing. I've got enough napkins that I can make enough for my family and friends -- plus enough for all the employees at the grocery store where my son works.

DII Set of 6 Mountain Trail Plaid 20 by 20 inch Cotton Napkins

Colorful and cheerful this set of six 20 by 20 inch Mountain Plaid napkins are a good choice for everything from a picnic or barbecue or just to brighten an everyday table. They also work well when used to line a bread serving basket. A 1/2 inch neatly sewn hem adds substance to each piece. Made of 100 percent cotton the napkins are medium-weight and well-suited for the job. Because they are all-cotton there is the potential for shrinkage if high heat is used so laundry care instructions are to machine wash in cold water on gentle cycle, tumble dry on low heat and if needed iron on low. After washing shrinkage was minimal. To reduce any wrinkling remove promptly from the dryer or line dry/dry flat. It works well to remove them from the dryer while slightly damp, smooth out any minor wrinkles and allow them to finish drying before putting away. Excellent.
