The bit was dull 6 holes
The bit was sharp when I started. I enlarged 6 pre- drilled & countersunk 3/16" holes to 1/4" with the new 1/4" Dewalt bit. I was drilling stainless steel from China. By the 6th hole the new bit was damaged beyond use. I don't recommend using these bits on stainless steel.

Used on drilling steel
i used this drill bit to drill through 1/2 steel. I worked well, but be careful and cut slowly to not overheat the bit.

Quality.
Right out of the box it drills flawlessly. We’ll see how long it lasts. The price compared to others was high. That being said, I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. This drill bit was made in Denmark unlike most others.

Lifesaver for drilling stainless
Using this 3/32 colbalt drill bit, I was able to successfully drill out a stripped stainless steel set screw. I previously tried the titanium nitride coated drill bits I had on hand but those just didn't cut it, literally. So I purchased this bit and am happy to report that it worked. Just don't go crazy with speed and use an occasional drop ofTap Magic cutting fluid if you plan on drilling into stainless. One detail to note is that at this moment, Amazon's product description states that it's a 'pilot point' bit. This is incorrect. It's a standard split point (this was my preference) as listed in the picture of the blister packaging. Overall, it's a little pricey for one bit, but that is totally outweighed by the time and money it save me by not having having to destroy and replace shower components had I not been able to drill out the screw. So I'm very happy with this purchase. Good luck drilling and I hope this review was helpful.

Got the Job Done
I've been working for 3 winters at getting this stuck (1/4 -20) stainless bolt out of the aluminum binnacle on my sailboat steering pedestal. I've also spent over $200 in gas and tools (on ONE bolt). It took a while but this bit went straight down through the middle of the bolt. I had to get a larger bit to finish the job but I was very happy with the performance of this little tool.

Perfect replacement.
Original replacement for one I damaged on some stainless steel. Pilot point drills, which can be used on metal, aren't as common as brad points which are designed for wood. When I couldn't find it elsewhere Amazon came through. I have a full set of these and would fully recommend them for your shop.

Did not recieve Dewalt bit as advertised.
This was advertised as a Dewalt 1/4 inch pilot point drill bit. I received a 1/4 inch Irwin drill bit in original Irwin packaging. On the back there is a sticker labeling this as a Dewalt bit next to the Irwin print. Still a good drill bit but did not come as advertised.

This bit it truly AWESOME!!!!!!!
I had used 2 different bits Milwaukee and Bosch and I got through 3 holes in a steel beam that took about 1 1/2 total. I got this DEWALT drill bit and I was able to get through a hole in 20 minutes or less. That DEWALT bit made it through 13 holes in my steel beam EASILY. Some of the time was because I was working above my head a little and needed to rest my arms. Also the double looking tip of the bit minimized the jerking right before the hole was drilled through. This bit NEVER got warm either. GREAT Product! I would recommend this to everyone and anyone drilling through a steel beam.

did not work for me
Bought this with the intention of drilling into empty disposable gas cylinders made of steel and stainless steel (similar in size to fire extinguishers). It drills the mini pilot hole just fine, but as soon as the larger diameter engages the drill binds and bucks. Sometimes it even come loose in the chuck. Would be better if it had some sort of taper rather than a harsh 90 degree between the bigger and smaller sections. It might work fine on flat surfaces but i was not pleased with the convex surfaces i tested it on. Worked better on aluminum, but still not as good as a standard bit. Did use centre punch, didn't use cutting fluid

defective
It's a small item and not worth returning --but--the drill was improperly sharpened from factory. It came flat on the point totally unusable. I expected more from Dewalt!

Garbage
I usually use Bosch brand carbide bits for working with grade 5 titanium but I decided to give the Dewalt a try. BIG mistake. These didn't work at all and yes, I know how to properly use them. Save yourself grief and get Bosch brand instead

It is replacement for broken bits
Honest opinion I have not tried it yet it is just a spare replacement for a broken bit I hope it will stand for good quality and brand name
