Heavy duty

Heavier than most coolers. I keep mine in my garage when I’m working on projects or yard or truck or tractor. I like the bright yellow.

Pros and Cons

I bought this for 2 reasons. To be able to lock it at work and to insulate my food during winter. Pros. You can put a lock on it. Very well built! Tough! Cons! It's heavy and bulky. Not an everyday lunch box. No side drain hole. Expensive. Do I recommend this product? If you intend to use it as a lunch box everyday at work? Hmm. . . It's weight and bulkyness will put you off. So for work no, unless you don't do much walking. On the other hand if you want a small cooler for a six pack it's ok.

Latch broke on 2nd use.

We bought this for use in our Polaris RZR and it fits perfectly in the rear trunk and keeps our drinks cold all day during our rides. Surprisingly, when I went to use it for a car show, one of the latches broke when I went to load it up. Being a big fan of Dewalt products, I was really surprised when it happened. Now to see if I can get it covered under warranty.

One of latches broke a week after I received the cooler.

Cooler it self is very sturdy but the latches are weak. One broke a week after I received it and I can not find replacement latches anywhere. They are not offered on any website I can find and I’m not the only one that has had this issue.

Built Tough

This is a Very Sturdy Cooler BUT it's too heavy for my 68 yr young hubby. He loves Dewalt so this was his Birthday present, but by the time he fills it it's just too heavy with his back issues. Darn, but he loved it!! Make a lighter weight and I will buy!

There is some kind of flaw in the latches that allows them to break for no discernable reason.

The 10 qt cooler itself seems very rugged and it's perfect for my kayak. I can easily open and close it with one hand without having to turn around in my seat. But, after using it only three times, one of the latches broke while latching it. The latch wasn't stressed or strained and it just snapped in half for no discernable reason. After seeing other reviews with this same complaint, it seems like DeWalt would come up with a better quality latch and perhaps replace all of the old latches in a recall. I expected better quality with the brand and at the price. On a positive note, I called DeWalt and they are sending me a replacement latch at no cost. Perhaps they should make the latches out of aluminum or at least a sturdier or reinforced plastic.

Love this thing.

Overall, I absolutely love this cooler (10qt). It has come with me on week long camping trips, social events, and long road trips, keeping food cold up to 4 days. Knowing how to properly pack this cooler is the key to ice longevity (pre chilling the cooler, pre-freezing all meats, and packing all food and ice like a tight tetris puzzle. The size of this thing makesit super convenient for everyday use. After 2 years of use a latch did break, though dewalt was quick to ship me 2 free replacements (great costomer service). Highly recommend this super little cooler.

Best Christmas Present EVER

My hubby is a major DeWalt user in his construction business....so much so that when he built his garage/work space he painted the interior DeWalt yellow. So when I saw this lunch box I knew it would be the best Christmas present ever. Only complaint my hubby has....no cooler came with it, and it's not available to get it in Canada. Other than that....it does the trick.
