BEST BANG FOR YOUR HARD EARNED BUCKS!

First off, for anyone planning to install a wall lantern/(s), let's say on both sides of your garage door, (new install). Pick carefully your wall lanterns. I did just that 20+ years ago. I bought two lanterns very similar to these from Yardbirds, when they were being bought out by the Home Depot. I cannot stress enough for first installs to carefully decide whether you want a lantern that hangs DOWN, or one that hangs UP, from the wall mount. 90% of all wall lanterns hang DOWN! Because the first lanterns I bough many years ago hung UP, I installed the junction boxes on both sides of my garage at an appropriate height for a lantern that hangs UP! Now, 20+ years later, the original lanterns were in desperate need of replacement. When I shopped for replacement lanterns, I quickly realized that those than hang DOWN, would be way too low, so I have no choice but to continue with UP hanging lights. If you look at what is available out there, similar to these, you will quickly notice that 90% are lights that hang DOWN. If you are replacing an existing light, with few exceptions, most will have to replace with similar orientation light. If this is a new install, buy the light/(s) first, then decide how high you want to install wall junction box. These wall lanterns were PERFECT replacements for my situation. I like that they are made of aluminum. The are very sturdy, and well built. Only complaint, and this is very minor, is the paint was lacking around the top of the bulb socket on both lights I purchased. Secondly, unless I missed it, THESE DO NOT COME ASSEMBLED! Not a big deal, as they are very easy to put together. While they were still unassembled, I shot them with a coat of can spray paint, as I said original coat was on the very light side. Let dry overnight, and installed the following day. I also put a few beads of caulk around top half of both of my junction boxes as the lights do not come with any kind of o-ring/weather seal, and do not fit as flush against the wall as I would like. My lights are pretty well protected from rain by garage roof overhang, I was more worried about insects getting behind and making junction box/lantern base their home/nest. I think the caulk I put behind should take care of that problem. I put a bead or two of caulk around the junction box the day before install, and after trial fit, a fresh coat of caulk just before install, so the light shaped the caulk as I secured it to the wall, making a very good seal, (I did not want any caulk showing, thus did not want to caulk after light was mounted). For inexpensive outdoor wall lights, if these are the right size and orientation, you can't go wrong. All in all, very pleased. You will not find anything else that even comes close to these for this price, which I think was $12 each.

Perfectly matches exterior decor

This one replaced a similar style that was too weathered and appeared to be the original from when my home was built in 1998. I really appreciate that it accepts 100W bulbs and how elegant it appears.

Easy enough to install

Easy enough to install. Did not realize it has daylight sensor. Thought there was a bad bulb when it wouldn't turn on during the day. Grandson flipped the switch at night and it worked. Figured it out then.

Facile à installer mais le guide d'installation ne sert à rien

J'en ai acheté deux, l'une pour la porte patio puis l'autre pour l'entrée principale de ma maison. Pas difficiles d'assembler puis de connecter. Seul petit bémol, le manuel est en anglais puis les dessins son trop petits pratiquement inutiles. Dans mon cas, pour bien faire les choses j'ai du faire la mise à jour du filage électrique jusqu'au panneau. Sinon, on fait les deux en une heure.
