I love the Artwork. Its perfect imo. No complaints. The Design is hampered by the fact that you cannot use a standard bulb (see picture), despite what some other reviewers have stated. The glass bulb will not hold a regular size light bulb, nor will a FlameLED bulb work, as the diameter is too large. The diameter of the hole is 2 1/8 inches, and a standard light bulb is 2 1/2 inches, Flame LED bulbs are the same size or larger. The socket, IS standard, and is an E26 FWIW. So you can take the glass off and put a standard bulb of any size in there, you just can't put the glass bulb back on. (this will be my solution, but impedes the weatherproofing, see below) The glass globe would ideally have a choice to be clear glass, as this would have worked better for me. It comes only with deeply frosted glass, which works for the clear bulb it comes with. A note on the Glass Globe. You remove it by pulling on the glass itself. This is a friction held device only. But it is held very securely, so I do not think it will come loose and break. The worst thing about this light is the electronics. Not that they are bad, but I would give them a 3/5 stars. The cord is too short, at 48 inches. (see pic) Plus, you have a cheap switch, about midway, leaving only 2ft to play with. I assume that many people will want to mount this outside, and if that is the case, weatherproofing would be recommended/necessary, depending on if it will be in the rain or protected by the roof... In my case, I will use a dusk till dawn device to turn it on and off, and hard wire it to my porch. I will try to update my pics once the second Dragon head sconce arrives. An easy 4 stars that could be 5 for some.

With a little touch up it's pretty good

This was a damaged box item, the damaged box was obviously from removing shipping and return labels. Someone had this and used it in what was probably a damp or high humidity location until the bulb went out and from the damage to the bulb socket the outer ring that's threaded for the edison base came out with the bulb. I had to cut the wires near the bulb holder because the screws were rusted to the point of being one solid piece. Now on to the good stuff, the sculpt itself is fairly good quality and the globe is a good size for it. Once I replaced the damaged bulb socket and painted the sculpt it came out quite nice. Throwing in a color changing led bulb really adds to the effect too.

Look great, but short cords

We love dragons, so this was just the touch we needed to add to our family room decor. Pros: -The dragons look awesome! -The globes give nice light with replacement bulbs. (We swapped out the exisiting bulbs for LEDs, so I can't comment on the original light level.) Cons: -The cords that come with the lamps are too short, especially since these are meant to be mounted on the wall - there is no way the lamps could be mounted at a reasonable height on a wall and reach a standard height wall outlet without using extension cords. -The globes are a little interesting to remove to get access to the bulbs - they are held in place by clips inside the globe that push out on the globe, holding it with tension. It is not immediately obvious how to remove them - you just pull them off, but be careful not to catch a finger when the clips spring back into place. It takes a bit of fiddling to get the clips to slide back into the globe, but we were able to get the globes back on without too much trouble. -Only one of the two sconces we ordered came with a lightbulb. This would have been frustrating had we not been planning to swap out the incandescents for higher efficiency LEDs anyway. Cautions: These are fairly substantial, so be sure you use appropriate anchors when mounting.

Gorgeous addition to my living room

I'm giving this 5 stars because I love it but theres some things you need to know. First, as most have stated the cord is short. I mounted mine over a wall junction box then cut and wired the lamp cord out the back. Definitely not for someone with no experience. With that said it still looks great if you can hang it above an outlet, also. Just dont expect a long cord. Also and definitely a big deal for me, the globe only fits an A15 appliance sized bulb to keep the heat down. A lifx or similar smart bulb will not fit in the opening in the globe. I solved this by going to a home improvement store. They offer a glass 6" globe that's got a bigger opening to fit my smart bulb and mounts without modification. Its not a perfect fit but you cant really tell, and it was 5 bucks. All in all I'm extremely pleased and it looks fantastic.

A big hit with dragon fans

I bought this for my nephew's Christmas present. He is 10, and he LOVES dragons. It plugs in, so does not require hard-wiring. My nephew thought it was the coolest thing ever (or at least, at the time... I am sure he is on to new cool things by now). He was thrilled with it, and I didn't hear any complaints from his dad about it, so it was probably not too hard to assemble and hang up. Decent quality for what it was, from reports from relatives--I have not seen it for myself. I would give it 5 stars but it was expensive for an item of this kind. However, I knew when I ordered it that I had found the perfect present, and it was worth the money not to have to shop around for other gift ideas. I knew he would be getting a ton of toys from the grandparents and I wanted something that stood out from that. This certainly did. If you have kids on your gift list that are into dragons or Harry Potter or stuff like that, this will make a great gift. If you are an adult outfitting your own castle, I have not seen it in person so I am not sure how great it really looks. 10-year-olds are not as hard to impress, quality-wise. It was realistic enough that he didn't think it was lame.

Really like it! The detail and the quality are very good. It is solid and has good weight to it. Putting it up was straight-forward (used a single anchored screw). The cord is short (almost 4 ft) but I was lucky to be able to position it directly over an outlet. The switch is around 30 inches away from the head (read on for a workaround for the switch). To access the bulb you basically pull the glass globe down (don't try to unscrew it) - there are three metal wires which are spring loaded to stretch out to hold the globe securely in place (these wires can be seen a bit through the glass). Just be careful when removing the globe because it can get a bit scratched from the surrounding metal cage (I might try to put a bit of felt on the inside of the metal tips next time I remove the globe). Once it was up it looked great, but the control of the light using the cord was a pain. To get around this, first I used a plug with a remote control and this was helpful. Then I tried inserting a remote control colour LED bulb:LE Remote Controlled Color Changing A19 5W LED Light Bulb, 16 Color Choice, E26 Medium Screw Base . This bulb has worked quite well so far (almost a week) - it has a remote so turning on and off is easy but as an added bonus I can also change the colour which adds a whole new dimension to it (note the colour of the bulb gets a bit washed out at the bottom because the bulb is large in the globe, but this does not bother me). I will have to see how the bulb lasts (it seems most LED bulbs do not like heat which can build up in the enclosure and this could result in the bulb's life being shortened, but so far i have not noticed much heat as it is a pretty low wattage bulb - time will tell!). When purchasing the dragon head I suggest checking the different seller's prices - in particular Design Toscano (who makes the product) and Amazon - their prices can differ. I imagine it would be nice to get a pair of these, but I purchased one and am quite happy with it.

My Dragon Lady loves it!

She loves it! Good solid construction and nice detail Just wish the cord was longer. Changing to low wattage coloured light bulb for effect; the included bulb is quite bright.

Very Bright!

Excellent source of light! Much brighter and more vibrant than I anticipated. If you're looking to add a cool ambiance to your place, you can also use colored light bulbs such as red, green, or blue. Perfect for that dark corner of your living room, or as a centerpiece on your wall.
