Eh.. it's art!
It's art I guess and not to be judged as a tool? The business end is small... but it will fit on a bottle cap... just. I don't know why they couldn't have made it standard size, but whatever. It is fairly heavy. It was evidently painted by hand... on a boat in moderate seas... by a child. Too harsh? Well... for the price, I guess I expected more. I guess it's aimed at " we'll make it look obviously hand painted... by globbing paint and a run here or there. Looks great on the shelf... from about 10 feet away.

Retro Rocket
Bought this as a gift for my Dad, who has always been interested in rockets and spaceships. It has a great design and excellent weight. Opens bottles pretty well. However the paint job left something to be desired, particularly the red paint. Several flakes off of the nose and the edge of the fins, plus a pretty noticeable thin spot on one of the fins. I guess it gives it an "aged" look, like a rocket that's had a few trips. Still, it is a pretty cool and unique "retro" gift. Note: this is the second one I had to order, the first came with 2 of the fins broken off, so note that it can be fragile in those areas if not packed well (which it was not the first time). Received a full refund of the first, and I ordered it enough ahead of time for that not to be a problem.

Big disappointment.
Very disappointing. I had really wanted to love this cool design. I don't even care if the seams and casting is uneven because that just adds character. This could have been a neat conversation piece to put on my bar but it was a failure. Yes, I think as art it is fine. As a functional piece it's terrible. The flame area is basically just too small to accommodate a standard bottle cap so it doesn't catch beneath the rim to lift it off. You COULD keep going all around the cap, prying it up in small increments until it comes off but it's terribly inefficient. I can take a bottle cap off easier with a spoon, a lighter, a beer can, even a dollar bill... yes really. So, if you just like the retro look to display on a shelf, fine. But don't imagine for a second that you're going to just pop the cap right off of a beverage bottle. Too bad because it COULD have been a pretty cool product.

Much smaller than i thought.
My dad collects bottle openers and i bought him this for Christmas ... he loved it but i was a bit disappointed in the size of the opener, it is so small, i'm not sure if it really COULD open a bottle. For example (and i didn't notice this when i was buying it), look at the size of the bottle caps in the picture and look at the size of the opener at the bottom of the rocket body...much smaller than the size of the caps. So if you want this to just sit on the shelf in a bar, it is great and looks really retro and nice...if you want to actually USE it, it's not practical at all.

Form not functon
Gave this as part of a bar set for a wedding shower gift. One of the fins broke off the first time they used it. Very cool looking but not very functional... and very heavy.

50'S ROCKET SHIP LOVERS TAKE NOTE:
It's a Bottle Opener? That may be so, but this wonderfully made-heavy duty cast iron replica deserves a more honorable station in my home. The look and feel immediately bring me back to my childhood, when toys were virtually indestructable and could actually be used as weapons (LOL). I've been searching but, I haven't found another "rocket" as cool as this one on the net yet.

Sloppily painted and barely useable
The painting is very sloppy and I feel like a child painted it. It's also very difficult to use to actually open bottles. You have to fiddle with it for quite a bit before you can barely get the cap open. What a waste of money this was.

Buyers remorse...
I like Toscano stuff a lot, I have buyer's remorse with this item though. It is not going to be functional, which is actually fine for me. I purchased it more as something to look at. I was hoping it could be attached to the wall, not so. The paint-job..... yikes! With Toscano, this is something that usually doesn't bother me either. However, the painted number on the item... looks ridiculous. Not sure why they couldn't have done a stamped number to keep it a bit cleaner looking and more in line with something you'd expect on a "rocket". For the price I paid, it makes it all the more painful. I would not purchase again.

Not rocket science
Would look great if viewed from very far away... Like out in space And try opening a bottle with it... Pretty big design floor for these rocket builders!
