Quiet, smooth flow reduction
This adjusted the flow rate of my shower head from painful down to a gentle 1.2 GPM with my insane water pressure of 80+ psi. The final flow rate is going to depend on your shower head (this was used with a 2.5 GPM head), so the actual flow is likely going to be less than the advertised 1.5 GPM unless you have an old high-flow head and high water pressure. The noise level is very good (I can't tell it's there), unlike some other flow-reducing valves that generate a loud water hissing noise when turned down. I'm still deciding whether to use this flow reducer in combination with a gasket or not because the outside ring is similar to gasket material. Currently I just have the reducer in the head and there is a small leak, so I may add back my O-ring to see if that stops it. UPDATE: After about a month of use the flow regulator failed (all of a sudden my shower switched to pressure washer mode)! It appears the heat and pressure caused the outer gasket material to delaminate from the center hard plastic piece. The pressure then wedged the latter into the shower head opening at an angle, so the water was able to flow through the opening between the gasket material and the center piece. I'm not sure if the failure was due to poor product quality or my fault because of a poor installation (no guidance about using a separate gasket is provided with the product), so I only removed one star from my rating. I may try purchasing another one and using with a gasket to see if it fails again or not.

Which way to install???
It's a simple and I think probably a good device. But I really can't say. Comes in a little plastic bag. One side of the disc is a little different than the other. So which way to install? (no instructions with device) I installed it before contacting Delta) Oops! I then contacted Delta. Rep said both sides are the same. NOT. I opened the pipe fitting to inspect the device. It had fallen apart (apparently I installed it backwards?) I closed the fitting with the impaired device still in the pipe. It restricted the flow of water - to what specific extent I don't know. I e-mailed Delta and suggested the put a very brief instruction/picture in with the device package. So the device is going to stay in there until I get a ball-type flow restrictor valve - the kind with a little handle. PS. DELTA customer service line is very responsive. I think they simply did not understand the situation.

It's not very universal. Maybe it fits Delta showheads better, but it didn't work very well in my Moen showerhead. It did reduce the flow from over 2.5gpm to 1.5gpm and the flow was still more than adequate. The problem with it is the rubber gasket around the outside does not seat in very well and after the first few minutes of the first shower, the water pressure blew it apart. Since it didn't rest against anything solid, I found a rubber grommet that fills the space between the end of the pipe and the shower head swivel. I'm hoping it will hold in place and intact. I think I can make this one work, but I probably should have got the hard plastic one that screws in with the threads rather than relying on the thin gasket to hold it in place with no support.

Didn’t hold up well
I recently moved to a home with a smaller water heater and where I have to pay for water. I decided that restricting the water flow somewhat was necessary, since I emptied the hot water heater with a slightly longer shower. I Installed this, and it worked well enough for a while, but the plastic part started to separate from the gasket material, allowing the water to go through. Not worth the extra $$ for the Delta name.

Delta Hand Shower Flow Regulator
The flow regulator easily snaps into the end of the hand shower hose. The water flow is greatly diminished. Just what we wanted, in order to cut our water use.

Bought this to reduce the crazy high water pressure coming from one of our showers that didn't have the restrictor in the line. I've been trying to find one I could add to the hand sprayer line at the local big box stores, but they didn't stock them. I tried this one and it seems to work well. No weird extra noise or anything noticeable except for the softer spray coming from the shower. Oddly expensive for what it is, but worth every penny to us to crank the power down on that shower.

no more pressure washer in my shower!
I use this with my new handheld shower that was too forceful. It does make a little bit of noise, but really no louder than the shower head was when all the unrestricted water was blasting out of it. If your shower is trying to blast off, this will probably make it just right.

(I ordered 2) Poor quality. I went to install them and one failed with the outer rubber ring snapping. When I got the second unit installed but it lasted a week and the kids complained the water pressure was turned back up. Found the second units rubber ring also let go and the reduction ring went into the shower head. I now will have to try another type that screws inline with the shower head or maybe just ordering a new shower head (since I cant get this plastic disc out) I will say that before the rubber failed, the water pressure was what we wanted but for the money spent, I would have assumed it would lasted at least a year or two..
