Excellent faucet, installation instructions need updated
This review is specific to the Delta 440-SS-DST Collins Single Handle Kitchen Faucet with Spray in stainless steel finish. After browsing the manufacturers web site to select the style and finish we wanted, we learned more about the Diamond Seal Technology and decided this was a must have feature for us in whatever fixture we would eventually decide upon. Loving the more traditional look and function of this type of kitchen faucet for our double sink, the choices were very limited. A lot of the models for sale now have the retractable sprayer head which didn't appeal to us for our needs. Thankfully Delta hasn't completely abandoned this style of faucet. We received the faucet assembly quickly and nicely packaged. Delta even had a number of the components wrapped separately in the box to protect the finish, a nice touch. This unit was installed in a residential sink and nearly everything went together well. Nearly. And this is the only thing that I've withheld a single star on. If you decide to make use of the sprayer portion of the unit when you're installing, the manual (of which mine is Revision D) states to `insert the diverter hose end into diverter housing until seated.' This connection utilizes 3 o-rings for sealing purposes. I thought it strange there was no mention to use plumbers silicone grease on these o-rings. So, I followed the instructions and made the connection `dry'. It leaked at that connection. After turning the water supply back off, putting a pan under the line and disconnecting the above mentioned connection, I dried off the o-ring area well. This time I applied the plumbers silicone grease to the o-rings and made the connection again. No leak. Yay! I need to email the company and make them aware of this, if they don't perhaps already know it. I suspect a `Revision E' manual that mentions applying the grease along with the addition of a grease capsule with the hardware kit would prevent others from having an issue and perhaps prevent some unnecessary returns. We've been using the faucet for just over a month now and love it. As has been mentioned by a few others here, some of the time there is a noise from the sprayer diverter area when you run the faucet (it doesn't happen if you're running the sprayer). It has no effect at all on the performance of this unit at all. It's just a tiny noise. Perhaps not all units will have this happen. It doesn't bother us and I almost forgot to mention it until I looked at some other reviews here. Our unit came with the 1.8 gpm (gallon per minute) aerator which suits most of our needs just fine. If you need more flow, for filling a water can as an example, you may want to order the 2.2 gpm aerator which is part number RP18508. There is also a 1.5 gpm aerator available if you're looking to further reduce water usage. This unit should do fine being installed in any typical residential sink. If you are looking to install it in a more commercial or heavy usage situation (say as a shop sink off of a garage), there is a Delta part that will help you achieve that. But, this is where things can get a bit weird due to Delta having a single instruction manual that covers multiple versions of its faucets. Oh, and to add to it? There are -many- revisions of that manual, so be certain to read the next 2 paragraphs carefully lest you make an oops and order the wrong parts. If you have a Delta 440 series faucet, which the Delta website refers to as a `4-hole 8" installation', you will need the `Delta Stabilization Plate, Model # RP37490 (I pulled that specific name and model information directly from the Delta website. Amazon.com also carries this part for sale, under the same model number, but for some reason they refer to it as a `Victorian Stabilization Plate'. Thanks to Jenkins for pointing this oddity out. An interesting point of note is that this part is not listed at all in the revision of the installation/parts manuals that we received with our faucet. But if you are installing any of the `single hole or 2-hole' series of the Delta product mentioned in the same installation manual and you wish to stiffen the mounting point for a firmer mount, then you will want the `Delta Stud Reinforcement Kit, Model # RP63792' which Amazon.com also carries. This part is listed in our installation/parts manuals we received with our faucet, even though it doesn't fit the 440 model faucet. Very odd! All in all, if you like this style of faucet and sprayer, I think you'll be happy if you bought this model. In a final note, it is now March 29, 2017 and this faucet is still working perfect! Zero problems at all.

DRIP , DRIP, DRIP
LIKED IT UNTIL IT STARTED DRIPPING ALL THE TIME, IF I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT FROM THE STORE I WOULD HAVE RETURNED IT.. BUT AMAZON ONLY GAVE 30 DAYS AND I DIDN'T INSTALL RIGHT AWAY AND IT STARTED DRIPPING ABOUT A COUPLE WEEKS LATER. I'M GOING TO CONTACT DELTA AND ASK THEM TO SEND ME A VALVE CARTIDGE.

Easy to install
I needed to replace my "no name" chrome kitchen faucet. My sink is white and I wanted to replace the chrome faucet with white. There are very few white faucets available, most have pull down or pull out sprayers, I have a separate sprayer. The Delta 440 is the only white single handle with a separate sprayer available. Many reviews complained about the faucet dripping when off or difficulty in controlling the temperature of the water. I decided to take a chance and I am glad I did. I do have a few (3 or 4) drops when first shut off. The handle off position is very positive and it is not possible to move the handle left or right when in the off position. My guess to the drips may be do to water remaining in the arch of the spigot. The few drops do not bother me. Controlling the temperature of the water has not been a problem. When moving the handle straight back from the off position the water temperature is warm as it should be. There is enough travel to both the hot and cold positions. Installation was not an issue. Included water lines, 3/8" compression was very helpful. I did make one change to the install directions. To connect the sprayer to the base of the faucet requires removing a plug from the faucet fitting and then inserting the sprayer hose fitting. It requires two hands to accomplish this task. The install instructions shows to do this connection after the faucet is installed on the sink. Very difficult to accomplish while laying on your back and trying to work behind the sink. My change was to install the sprayer first and feed the hose through the bottom of the sink hole for the faucet. This enables the connection to be completed above the sink with no difficulty. The comments about the sprayer connection leaking may be due to trying to accomplish this task according to the instructions. Is it possible that changes to the engineering of the faucet have taken place since the older negative reviews?

Very slow
I'm disappointed with the slow flow rate of this faucet. It works well and I'm able to do everything I need to with it. However, I often go off to do other things while it's filling a 2 qt. pitcher or running water into the sink to wash up some dishes.

easy install
I actually had more trouble removing the old one, but it was one of my first plumbing jobs that did not result in the occasional four letter word. After installing it we found that it operated well. Smooth and easy. Just the style we wanted too, which is getting harder to find. The sprayer also is a lot better than our old one, it does not spray very hard, easy to control. Edit 12/22/2018. Won't shut off, drips. The handle feels rubbery. Something has gone wrong and I'm not sure how to get it fixed under warranty. Perhaps I just got a bad copy, but I'm not happy. Edit 12/30/2018 I emailed Delta's customer service about my issue. They sent me a replacement cartridge priority mail. I did not have to send back my used part. The cartridge fixed the problem and it was easy to install. I may have just gotten a bad part, or perhaps some dirt got lodged in it. I did dissemble the bad cartridge and could find nothing wrong with it.
