Must-have for hot nights & old houses.

I actually trust the security of these locks more than the original spoon style, since they rely on shearing force rather than tensile forces of the screws in the upper sash. I leave them locked at all times. When installing, take your time and make sure that the piece on the inside of the track will clear around the corner of your sash without tearing into it! Once the screws are tight, I found I needed a little bit more space than I thought I dry-fitted for.

Work decent

These do the job. Though they should come with spacers so the slider can slide all the way back when installed. But we got them to work so they are doing their job.

Great for first floor windows

I am able to leave my windows cracked open all day for my dog on days where ac isn’t necessary. Gives me piece of mind.

Could work better!

Main issue is the button doesn't slide all the way from one end to the other when installed ... the plate isn't raised enough, so the button hits it. Annoying. Yet it will still provide lock protection when the button is kind of lamely jammed near the bend. Disapointing.

The BEST option for a window stop

Heavy gauge stamped steel construction. Better than the other "flip-over" (wedge-shaped) vent locks because this one CANNOT get bent or mangled. It also has no hinge to slip out over time. This one is fool-proof. Unlike the competing wedge, this one (1) is spring loaded to pop either in or out of the way, and (2) has a small impact plate to protect where it touches the rising window. When the window slides up to hit this window vent stop, it sounds and feels rock solid. I have bought and fiddled around with a lock of window and door security devices/gadgets. This is one of my two my favorites security devices. When you install it, you might have to shave a little bit of wood off the window where you can see through the channel that the pin slides in. This lets the pin slide freely, without rubbing the wood underneath. This may add one minute or two to the already easy and fast installation.

Big bag of nope.

I've got older windows in an older house. If you describe your window situation in a similar way you probably have at least a few window locks in questionable condition. Some may be missing entirely. On top of that, you may not even have the ability to put a standard window lock on your window. Even if you've got older windows in an older house with top notch in good working order window locks you may desire the ability to leave your window cracked at night. Or during the day! I've got about 25 windows in various states of lockability. For the most part they lean towards the "nope" end of the locking spectrum. I also love leaving my windows cracked to enjoy a cool breeze or take advantage of natural air conditioning afforded to a two story house. After studying the reviews of several window sash locks, it appeared that these would be the most sturdy. This is not the case. I first encountered a problem that many reviewers appeared to encounter - the screws held too tight to soft wood making it impossible to move the locking mechanism. This was indeed a problem and any review should rightfully deduct a point or two for the company not updating their design to take care of this. Not to be deterred, I ventured to my local hardware store and dropped a few cents on some washers to give a tiny bit more room to the claustrophobic mechanism. This worked marvelously, yet revealed a fatal flaw. The locking mechanism is attached via a rivet type fastener to what is effectively a washer on the other side of the brass place. The rivet is very weak, and with only two moderate lifts of the window I was able to smash the mechanism off. This is on a window where I only allowed a 3.5 inch opening. There is literally no way that one should consider this an effective product. While it is a nice concept, the engineering and execution is a complete failure. Avoid this product. I cannot conceive of a situation you might put it to effective use. (in the photo you can see the broken lock and an unused one)

Wood Window Vent Lock,

I have used these for years and was so happy that Amazon still sold them. I feel better now when I open a window that it will stop it from going up any further. Easy to slide the knob back if you want to open window completely. Highly recommend these.
