Very Good Air Pump
Just perfect.

good equipment that I trust
This is just a really good pump. It's industry standard in west coast fishing industry specializing in live fish. I use it on my boat, and trust it to keep several thousands of dollars worth of crab or fish alive. At times as much as 45k or 50k can be riding on this pump. The last pump ran for a decade it seems like. A couple cheap 15$ rebuild kits ... maybe only one. . The buyers that purchase my fish use them , and on a much larger scale. Idk what to say about the price. I really don't consider the cost of good equipment. I do consider the cost of losing a load of fish, due to bad equipment. But in the boat worls, 180$ for an important component is ridiculously cheap. Once awhile back, few months ago, my generator failed, leaving me with no real source of AC, that normally powers the pump. But I do have a tiny inverter that runs off the DC alternator on the main engine.. 400 watts. I use it to power a couple laptops and a few 20" monitors. I decided to give it a try and.... true to the claim, the pump seems to have used no more than 100 watts. Hummed away for the duration of the trip. Anyway... rambling here. I like these pumps , I stake my income on them, and don't foresee making any changes

These pumps are very reliable and long lasting.
These pumps are very reliable. About the only thing that goes wrong is when a diaphram tears. Repair kits are readily available at a reasonable cost and you can repair them yourself. Danner company is very easy to deal with if you have any problem.

This pump means business
This pump is so powerful, great for aerating a 300 gallon tank for compost tea, plant feeding, etc. Kind of loud but my gardens outside so I don’t care. Two thumbs up! Puts my other $114 pumps to shame.

solidly built
good airflow from my 8 foot deep pond, reasonable price replacement diaghrams. With tax, I paid $202.81 HOWEVER, Amazon refunded me ~$164.81. After running the pump for about 6 hours a day for about 4 months it totally failed. .The inside was covered with carbon dust. I called Amazon and UPS picked it up . RESTOCKING FEE was $38. Gee free returns of an item that failed and they restocked it?

The item itself is great once it is repaired
The item itself is great once it is repaired. I received 2 of these, 3 months apart. The first one is so quiet you cannot hear it run. The second sounded like an airplane crash. I called Danner for advise, and the very helpful people said I should not have a product of theirs that is defective from the box, and I should return it. Amazon of course agreed and was prompt in not only exchanging the pump, but sent it out ahead of the product return. This is where the experience gets interesting. The replacement pump did the same thing. When I turned it over to see if the rubber feet were on, I could hear something(s) rattling around inside the housing. So, I need the pump, not a continuing exchange senario. I removed the pump housing per the instructions, and found the problem. There are 2 brackets that hold the diaphram assembly to the base. During assembly, these brackets were put on with screws too short for the job. (And there were extra screws laying in the base as well.) When I tried to reinstall them, they would tighten slightly then spin. I bought new longer screws and re-assembled. Problem solved. I assume this is an import. And it jibes with things I get from what I assume is a China company.. So Amazon and Danner 5 stars for customer service, and China 1 star for what is their standard quality control.

POOR DESIGN - INADEQUATE HEAT REMOVAL LEADS TO FAILURE
I bought the AP100 air pump for my pond and at some point it went silent. When the unit failed, it was very hot (uncomfortable to touch)! When I opened the unit to determine if a replacement diaphragm was the problem, I saw that the magnetic coil assembly is completely encased (by design) in a manner that does not adequately allow for cooling the magnetic coils. The excess heat had introduced a break in the wiring within one of the coils, which caused the unit to go silent. The two pictures of the inside of the unit show the magnetic coil assembly with the (white plastic) internal cover installed, which is how the unit is designed, and the other picture shows the unit with the plastic cover removed (so you can see what the coils look like). After the unit cooled down, it might re-connect itself - but after a short period of time (an hour), the unit would go silent after it heated up. This mode of failure is likely due to an intermittent break in the magnetic windings somewhere. From looking at the product manual for the AP100, I could not find any evidence of a thermal protection element, which could also explain the behavior. Because there is no thermal protection switch included in the unit, I conclude that the excessive heat has caused the failure - as a break in the wiring. I also have another air compressor, a Matala HK-60L, which has never been a problem, and stays relatively cool when compared to the Danner AP100.

Powerful pump at 12' depth in 1/2 acre pond.
I have this connected to a 9" round small bubble diffuser via a 3/8" sinking air line, in a pond that is 12 ft deep and approximately 1/2 acre. I was concerned at first because this is rated at 6.53 psi, and I wasn't sure it it could handle the depth. There was no need to worry, though, because this pimp puts out a serious amount of air, and is very quiet. I had planned to mount it to our wooden dock, but was concerned that maybe vibration would be transmitted into the wood, and become amplified and annoying. Fortunately, the pump has tapered legs on the bottom made from soft rubber, which isolates sound really well. The housing itself is cast aluminum, which isolates sound well, too. I built a waterproof wooden cover for it, but even without the cover, the sound is barely noticeable. It makes the same 60 hz sound that an electrical transformer does, but a very quiet transformer. The only thing you notice when you walk close the pond, is a large amount of bubbles in the middle. Some people are asking about the cubic inches per minute, because the title is different than the description. It is actually 9150. It says so on the side of the box. I'm quite happy with this pump.

Great pump, silent and powerful
The pump arrived well packed. The casing is plastic and the pump gets hot a little after hours of use, but it is capable of supporting it. Not too hot for the fittings to melt, that is good, unlike the others pumps that are full metal enclosed magnetic motors. EDIT : 1st May 2023 Pump bought May 13 2021, I kept it inside during winter, so it runned continuously for 2 summers (2021, 2022) and this spring (may 2023) the air flow went down dramatically. I had bought the repair kit. I hope it will resolve the problem.
