Older version is better

Like- It's brand new. Dislike- No zipper like the original version (see photo). Tool tray should be underneath like the original version. (See photo). Using a couple heavy duty carabiners for the shoulder strap is a good idea.(see photo). I always put a layer of caulking on the base of the tool bag to greatly increase the sturdiness, durability, and longevity of the bottom of the bag. (See photo)

I had a previous bag that I retired and I like the new one better because of the plastic compartment on the side, instead of the bottom. I think my old one was about 20 years old.

Great little tool bag

Great bag! I work for a maintenance department at a university. I often get service calls with little information, but requiring a lot of walking to reach. This bag is the perfect size- It's light, easy to carry, and keeps me discerning about what tools I bring along, but it seems to hold about 95% of what I need for most jobs. I rarely need to walk back to the shop or truck. The parts tray is a great feature, and the big central pocket is the perfect size for a small drill, multimeter, and other odds and ends. This bag is popular in our department, and some of our guys have used it hard for years. Assuming the construction is the same as it used to be, I expect this bag to last a long time. If you're the type who needs a separate pocket for every little thing, you might not like it as much, but I find the design very efficient and easy to organize. For example, it doesn't have a pouch for every one of the 7 screwdrivers in my bag, but I can easily group tools like screwdrivers, nutdrivers, wrenches, etc. together in the several larger compartments, and save the individual exterior tool pockets for tools I use constantly. Everything packs efficiently, and i'm always surprised by how much i can fit into this relatively small bag. Everything i need. Altogether, very pleased with this tool bag.

Excellent, lots of storage for a bag of this size.

I love this bag, it is just what I was looking for. I am a gas utility worker, and this bag is great for the tools I use everyday. I take this with me on all my jobs, and never have to hunt for a tool. Everything has it's place. I usually have at least one 14" adjustable wrench, 16" pump pliers, a 14" flat head screw-driver, a bottle of leak soap, pens, wax crayon, match extenders, volt-stick, washers, plugs and caps, boxes of matches, several small crescent wrenches, several wood dowels, a rag, pipe dope or Never-Seize. The "hidden compartment" with it's plastic tray is perfect for small nuts and screws, extra matches, small sized caps and plugs, etc. Every guy I work with has admired this bag and wanted to know where I got it. It's plenty rugged and durable. I love it because it has the storage of much larger bags, and the pockets and spaces for tools were well thought out. Sure, it would have been nice to have a few more deep pockets in the smaller sizes. I find I have to over-pack some of the small pouches on the outside of the bag, or stuff falls out sometimes…but this is a small quibble. I would buy it all over again, and highly recommend it.

Old style 1526 was great. The new version is a cheap POS.

I have one of the old design 1526 bags and I really like it. It is going on 6 years old and has taken a major beating. I ordered a new one in early 2017 and received a redesigned bag with the parts tray on the side. The new design is awful. All the materials used are much cheaper and very thin. The parts tray is much cheaper as well. This was a bad move by CLC. If I cannot find one of the old style bags I will end up with a different brand. I returned the new style bag mainly due to the fact that I prefer the tray underneath the bag as it adds to the stability. After having my current bag for as long as I have, I would expect to get about two years of use out of the new style bag because of the downgraded lighter weight material. ***update 5/26/18*** I ended up with another of this new style bag due to my old style one finally getting holes in it. This new bag is so aggravating. They really screwed it up every way possible. First, I have lost 4 measuring tapes off of this bag within a few months because they moved the tape holder down so low that when you set the bag down it randomly unhooks the measuring tape and gets left behind. The parts tray being under the bag added so much rigidity to the old bag, having it on the side makes it stick out and it digs into you as you carry it. The lighter weight material used is weak and floppy compared to the old style bag. All the tool pockets are loose and floppy as well causing tools to easily pop out. When you set the bag down the whole bag just kind of sags and the tools lean outward. This is just a sad, pathetic bag. I F ING HATE IT. ***UPDATE 7/17/19*** I have had this new design bag for Coming up on 1-1/2 years. Needless to say, it's toast. I will be lucky if I get a few more months out of this bag. The bottom has numerous holes forming at the corners with the plastic support inside showing, multiple pockets have holes, not just on the bottoms but also on the sides randomly. The material is worn through by things such as a plastic empire level, the rubber handle of a Klien screwdriver, forget anything that's actually metal. Skip this bag and find something else.

This bag is solidly made and stands up with 10-lbs of tools.

Seems to have the right number of pockets for the bags size. I ditched the parts box and use that pocket for my driver-bits case. I haven't found a use for the little pocket with the velcro flap, it doesn't stay closed.

Great little bag.

Seems a little pricy for what it is. Great layout, though and the build quality seems good. I can't speak to durability yet, but I have used a number of CLC bags and pouches over the years - they have always been reliable. This bag should stand up to years of daily use. Would buy again without hesitation.

Very nice and practical tool pouch

I have the larger version of this tool case. This is a more practical size. It is sturday, has plenty of pockets and space for tools and small containers.
