A unique all non metric tape measure
This very well built tape measure was a rare find for me. I have more than a few tape measures in a variety of styles and lengths. Those tape measures are all half English inches/feet and half Metric mm/cm. These are all good and useful tape measures. But many times I am reading from plans that have the measurements in English decimal fractions like 2.6 inches. This Lufkin QRL625MP model 25 foot tape measure has normal English fractions on one side and the decimal fractions on the opposite side. PERFECT! I liked this tape measure so much that I bought two of them, one for in my tool box and one for the center console in my SUV. SO glad I found this model and bought two!

Nice tape for the price
Short version: great tape for the price, different labeling takes getting used to (but I like it), strong retraction Long version: I needed an extra tape measure around, but didn't want to spend much ($10 or less) since this isn't going to be my primary tape. I've had multiple tapes over the years; Stanley power tapes, a self locking Kobolt, couple of free "horror freight", a tiny Lufkin that I think is 40+ years old... The latter is what prompted me to check Lufkin again. These are all still going strong, except the horror freight (tape ends bent up, but they still work for the most part) and a Stanley I accidentally cut with a miter saw. First, let's get something straight: this is not going to compare to a more expensive tape. Not sure what some of you are expecting. This has a plastic shell, and feels a little cheap - NOT poor quality cheap, but it feels like a sub $10 tape. It's not a bad thing, you get what you pay for. That said, it has already survived a few falls from 6'-8' onto concrete and does not look or feel any worse for the wear. I have a Stanley that is plastic cased, and don't feel that it is inferior as a tape in general - less durable than metal, but more solid than this one. The retraction is strong - surprisingly strong. Hopefully that holds up. This is nice, but it also leads me to the next con: there is no "bumper" for the tape to strike against when it retracts. Usually this means that eventually the end will bend out of shape, lose accuracy, and stop hooking onto things. More expensive tapes have a spring loaded bumper for the end of the tape to strike against to prevent this. The layout of the numbers on the tape are one of the things that drew me to this tape. I do like it, but it takes a little getting used to after using "conventional" tape marking layout all these years. Tape lock works great. There are some reviews griping about it, but this one works very well. Solid engagement, does not slip. The packaging: I can't believe people are griping about the packaging. Seriously, if you can't get the $!#%ing thing out of the package, you probably have no business using it. I'll give the review from the older woman a pass on this statement. The packaging on this isn't any worse than any other plastic tool package, so build a bridge and get over it. Oh wait, you can't, because you can't get the tape out of the packaging...

Amazingly hard to get out of the package
Once you get most of the packaging removed, you are left with the plastic the clip attaches to. You can't remove the clip to help, because the plastic covers the clip screw.

Convenient
This makes it easier to measure parts from drawings where the measurements are in decimals.

I like—but not the “6”
This is a nice tape measure. Slides well, retracts well, and has a clip for your belt. The best feature of it is the fractions on one side and the decimals on the other—that’s very convenient. The only thing I don’t like about it is that in a recent project, I had to measure 6 inches several times. The number “6” has a line under it to help you distinguish it from a “9”. But I kept confusing the line under the 6 for the 6 inch line. The line under the 6 is at about 6 1/4 inches. I caught myself marking 6 inches at the wrong line several times and corrected my measurement, but I personally found this marking to be confusing and therefore mistake-prone for me. Regardless of that one drawback, I do recommend this tape measure. It’s a good price and works well. If my review was helpful, please let Amazon know by clicking “helpful”. Thanks!

Product fine (more or less); packaging a killer
I ALMOST had to go to the emergency room with the cut I got from a utility knife trying to cut the bank-vault thick plastic packaging on this puppy. There are no instructions on how to open it safely, and I couldn't figure out one, so I used a utility knife. I had to press so hard it slipped, and you can fill in the rest. I understand the need for protection against pilfering, but things now have gone much too far-this not at all the only inexpensive product that has the same issue. And I have the scars to prove it. The second issue is the slide-button-to-lock. I bought this for my wife, and there's no way she can lock it. If I use my meaty thumb, I can usually get it down, but it is MUCH harder to lock than the old Stanley it replaces.

Everyone finds measuring tape obnoxious…
So what took you so darn long? You don’t have to be dyslexic (I am) to hate regular annoying petty measuring tape, reminiscent of your 4th grade math teacher that tortured you in front of the entire class, and well..you still hate! Thank you for making our life easier, we have more important things to do-like my over the top creative projects - A+ Level now thanks to this measuring device that was made the way it should have been at the time of it’s creation! ????????

I like it
I mainly needed a cheap but decent replacement tape measure for regular usage (non-handyman, carpenter, etc stuff) and so far this does the job. I used to use a old but still handy metal Stanley PowerLock, Stanley is all I know but this isn't bad. Like most other tapes it will go limp, this one for me does so at around 9-10FT but if used on the ground its fine. The casing is plastic but feels strong enough to survive falls on hard surfaces and it has a belt clip. The lock also works fine with just one hand and I'm not a strong woman so thats a plus. What I really like is that the numbers are vertical instead of horizontal like many others as its much easy/quicker to read. The tape isn't scratch resistant (I tested) but the coating creates a good shield for average wear. For the price its a great tape measure. If you're a contractor or in some such profession I think this would be a decent cheap measure for on the go but you may want to opt for a metal casing or other features. For the average person just wanting to measure without a ruler, its pretty great.

Excellent product
The only reason I did not give the "easy to read" 5 stars is that I find the very small incremental numbers hard to read due mostly to my poor eyesight. I love that the numbers go down the middle and I greatly appreciate the dual markings on both side of the inch marking. I make far fewer mistakes when cutting my boards etc. It is very sturdy and will definitely recommend this tape measure to others.

Lock does not hold extended tape
I do like the way it shows vertical numbers. Less likely to draw a cut line on the wrong side of the inch mark. Not that I have ever done that:)

Easy to read decimals and great value
This tape measure makes reading decimals much easier instead of trying to figure out fractions. The numbers are big and easy to read. Other brands have new tape models with a better construction and cool features though. For example, this tape could be a little wider, not as curved, and have a better pocket clip.

Lock clip is floozy
I was pretty exited about this tape when I ordered it. The decimals and fractions are sweet, and I do really enjoy the colour. My only qualm is the lock mechanism is garbage, doesn’t hold the tape down worth a thing. And when I go to lock the tape down, the plastic half’s that make up the casing spread apart… all in all i’d suggest a different brand.
