Easily the best caulking gun I'll ever have the pleasure of using.
After well over a decade, possibly more, my old Newborn caulking gun decided to be non functional on me. However, instead of buying another Newborn brand, as most of their caulking guns are made in China, I wanted a caulking gun that was made in USA. Then I found the COX brand and have never looked back since. Not only is half as heavy as my Newborn caulking gun (this caulking gun is made out of quality nylon) but for the first time in all the years of caulking I've done, I finally found a caulking gun that won't cause the caulk I am using to drip. Essentially, this caulking gun incorporates drip free technology. What that means is that I no longer have to do some caulking, then pull back and then resume like I had to for the longest time with my Newborn caulking gun. That used to drive me crazy and not ever having to do that ever again is worth buying alone. What I also really like about this caulking gun is the quality of the plunger and the fact it's all one unit. The Rod is made out quality steel, in addition, this rod has a nice finish as well. In addition, the trigger on this caulking gun significantly much better than my old Newborn. Instead of having to use a great deal of pressure/tension, this trigger usage is rather seamless. An added bonus, this caulking gun comes with a caulk pointer, this was quite useful when I did roof patching and the caulk I used is much denser than the regular types of caulk I use. All and all, this is easily the greatest caulking gun I'll ever use and I only recommend Cox brand caulking guns now. Made in USA, affordable and actually live up their claims on the packaging label. The other caulking gun brands I tried (Workforce, Newborn etc) weren't nearly as good this brand and typically were twice the price, despite the fact their products aren't made in USA or at least not anymore. I highly recommend this and would wager to say, this is a caulking gun that even a professional contractor would use.

They don't make 'em like they used to.
It'll have to do.Probably still better than the competition but nowhere near as robust as the one that finally gave out after over thirty years of daily use. I suspect this one will work just as well. I'm sure it won't last as long. It is very much like the original but everything about it is as I said, less robust. On the original both parts that you wrap your hand around are cast. On this one the back half is still cast (though much lighter) but the "trigger" is stamped from sheet metal just like all the cheap knock offs. Every piece is thinner and less substantial that it was before. The design is basically the same so I do believe it will work the same way. The question is, for how long?

Very Good Caulk Gun
I have used this gun for a few jobs now. Other reviewers are right that the light weight of the gun makes a difference, and that the fiberglass body prevents you from marking up other surfaces during use. On the one hand, I was surprised that the handle flexed when I was laying down very viscous caulking, although despite this flexing in the handle, the gun seems like it will last some time. I have also found that with more viscous caulk, the gun does not leak when I lay it down between runs of caulk, although with the LIGHTER caulk, there is SOME leaking - not, however, as much as with the other guns I have used in the past. I rate this gun four stars because the black, built-in seal-breaking pin is virtually useless. Its attachment to the gun is poorly designed, and it will inevitably get lost. It might seem like a small detail, but there are times - like when you're up on a roof without another alternative for breaking the seal in the caulk - you really want a good, built-in pin. As a work-around, just tape on a piece of metal wire or something comparable. Despite this flaw, I am impressed enough with the weight, precision of the piston control, and general ease of use to plan on buying another one for a friend, who is starting home renovations soon.

Made in England and works great
I had broken two caulking guns using old construction adhesive tubes. Then I got this. It was easier to squeeze, and is sturdier than the other two (from other companies). I love it.

NOT made in USA as listed in description
I'll go ahead and give this 4 stars since the item did arrive 2 days earlier than expected. However, I specifically looked for a made in usa product and since it was listed right in the item details I went ahead and purchased. But the product says very boldly, made in England. At least it wasn't made in china... I would be sending it back if it were, but seeing as I've been waiting on using my Bird Proof repellent for this item, I'm going to keep it. Can't say yet how well it works, if it sucks I'll definitely update!

Meh...
Had high hopes for the composite (fiberglass?) model, but it's a pretty big let down. For starters, the seal piercing pin is too loose. It slides out while caulking and gets in the way. I had to tape it, something that shouldn't be necessary if it was built better. Another negative is how narrow the grip is. Also, it'd be nice if there was a tip cutter.

Great Caulk gun
UPDATE June 2012 - still using this same caulk gun. Still works great. Seems very strong and reliable. No issues so far. ---------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL Review This is a great caulk gun... I didn't realize it wasn't metal when I ordered it (guess I didn't read very close) but that hasn't been an issue. I've probably used 20 or more tubes of caulk with it now and its still working great. It does a good job of releasing the pressure when you let go... if you are pumping hard on the caulk you might still have to hit the thumb-release to keep the caulk from oozing out. But during normal use it usually doesn't "leak" when you set the gun down. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it doesn't have a way of cutting the tip off the tube. My old caulk gun (that died after 5 years of use) had a spot on the handle that would cut the tip off the tube. Not a big deal since you are likely to have a razor knife with you anyway. But a potential improvement for the product.
