Technically it works, but you can do better with your money.
After my partner and I decided to play around with some light bondage I went shopping for a rope. I, like most new people to this, was completely clueless and searched for something like bondage rope. We all know that there is nothing inherently special about bondage rope compared to "normal rope," but we don't know what type of rope is most appropriate for bondage use. Hence we go to Amazon to discreetly search for bondage rope to avoid the experience of having to go to a sex shop and ask a friendly clerk. Bondage rope is pretty much marketed to that demographic. They make it easy to find something that will work for what we want. That is what you get with the Doc Johnson Bondage Rope. It is soft and hurt rub your wrists raw. It is long enough to do some creative knots. It works for the novice. Although it works, it's not good quality. It feels only a little thicker than what you would expect from a draw string on a hooded sweatshirt. Not only that, it frays just as easily as the string on a hooded sweatshirt. As others have pointed out, once you calculate price per foot of this bondage rope, you really could go to a hardware store and buy a rope of better quality, with finished ends, and still pay less per foot than this rope. That is because you are paying for convenience of finding your first bondage rope, but not getting anything of real quality. If you end up liking rope play you are going to want to get a better rope. If you end up not liking rope play you could be spending less money on a better rope to experiment with. Either way, I would say you should look somewhere else like a hardware store for your first rope. Just go online and do some research into what you should get. The general consensus is nylon solid braid rope 7/16" (11mm) or 3/8" (9mm). If you are lazy this will get the job done, but there are much better ways to do that.

Nice, Soft Rope
If you're looking for a good rope to start out on, this would be a good option to consider. This rope is soft and flexible. It is wide enough that it won't cut into the skin and soft enough that it feels nice. For those who have a bit more experience in this area, one thing about this rope that might influence your decision to buy it is that it is not perfectly round rope. It is sort of a flat rope (without being flat or flimsy in any way). It still works very nicely but when tying certain knots, keeping the rope from twisting is just another inconvenience. Also, the softness means that decorative knots take more time to make (having to tighten it up little sections at a time to make it look right). If you're not concerned with appearances, then these factors shouldn't bother you. It's an excellent rope. The ends do not come wrapped, so it is necessary for you to do it yourself or the rope will fray. Simply use some electrical tape and cut. Ta-da, problem solved.

Soft Ripe
this is pretty solid, there are better purchases for the money. The ropes are Very Soft, so if you want to be less comfy, try jute. No complaints though.

Great bondage rope - Really soft!
My partner loves the feel of this rope on her skin. It feels really high quality and works exactly as described. I'll likely be buying a few more of these soon.

Bought this for use with the wife. Very soft and gentle to the skin. Even tied tightly or use to pull with it still felt comfortable to her. I needed about another 12' in length to be able to do basic tie downs on our king size bed but still worked. If you are looking to tie hands and feet to a king sized bed and hope to have enough to tie breasts or so, this wont be enough but you can buy this in triple packs so no worries.

Great for beginners but will fray if you don’t put whipping on it
This product is fantastic for beginners to rope bondage. My only real gripe is that the rope has no whipping meaning it will fray super fast if you dont know how to do it yourself. I recommend checking out crashrestraint.com for a tutorial on how to do that. Overall good product

awesome for first timers
It is a great product! The only thing we had to do was seal the ends with a lighter but it was no problem. It is soft enough so it doesnt cause skin irritation but not to soft to unravel. My boyfriend and i were both able to easily use it. I am plus size and and he was able to do a full body knot system on me with the length of this rope, and with his small frame i could do a little more intricate knot work with the extra length. First time bondage experience for both of us and we love this rope!!!!!

This product is soft and comfortable, and
I now own two lengths of this rope. I could probably do with one, if I cut it in half. [I have a queen-sized, shorter-height bed that I wrap around underneath and across). I used two because I have a weird aversion to cutting things (because I can't undo it). This product is soft and comfortable, and, if you use it correctly, doesn't leave marks, burns, or abrasions. I would definitely buy this several more times (or look for a cheaper alternative, if I could find the same quality and characteristics). That being said, I didn't look very hard for alternatives.

No rope burns!
Well, what else can I say? I've tied my girlfriend up in a numerous ways possible with many different knots for many different occasions! There have been no rope burns or discomfort of any kind. I have been able to senselessly plow my restrained lover in numerous positions and she is loving it every day. No friction deterioration, the knots are easy to dismantle once we are finished, everything was comfortable and of course, we were able to experience our deepest of fantasies as I brutally dominate my lover. Wonderful product, wish it came in a longer length!

Good quality and strong but flakey
It’s strong rope but its flakey so all the red stuff goes all over your bed sheets and pillows and socks but I think if you wash it before using it then it will be alright

Alright. Cheap and the product matches. So bang for the buck it’s good for getting the job done, but won’t be our primary rope for sure.

Great quality for the price
I have to say, I wasn't expecting much from this rope at all (considering how cheap it is) But this is great! It's soft and just long enough to practice basic restraints (a few arm, leg and harness) Would highly recommend for beginners before investing in real Japanese silk rope.

Good quality bondage rope
Fairly good quality rope, it works extremely well for bondage (as advertised). It has a fair bit of stretch to it, and it looks and feels great, the rope is very soft and comfortable. The only problem we've had with it so far is that the ends start to unravel very quickly, I'd recommend taping them before use to get the most out of the rope.
