Excellent customer service! Two new replacements in three years!
I loved this blanket and had no problems with it initially. When I unpacked it this year and put it on the bed I noticed that the socket for the plug on the left side had come out of the blanket. When I picked it up to examine it about a foot of the wiring also came out of the blanket. Since it came with a five year warranty, [[ASIN:B002MUB9CY Soft Heat® Luxury Micro-Fleece Electric Heated Warming Blanket King Size-Slate]I will call the manufacturer on Monday to see if it can be replaced. I am not encouraged by those who say they call and no one ever calls them back. We'll see. . . FOLLOW UP Saw that others had written that they contacted the distributor by phone, left a message and their calls were never returned. I decided to email instead. Emailed on a Friday night, included all pertinent info. Received email from Tracey Helms on Monday morning asking if I would cut out and mail label from blanket to her at which point she would ship replacement. (No paying to return defective blanket.) I did as she asked and received my new blanket in ten days. Can't ask for better customer service than that. NOVEMBER 2014 Originally ordered this blanket in 2011. Was replaced once for connection issues. This year when I put it on the bed and pulled it up, the wires came out of the connector on one side. I called Tracy and left her a message and emailed her. She called me back the next day and I received my new blanket within seven business days. Obviously a continuing problem with wiring and connectors but as long as they are willing to replace non-functioning blanket with new one I am happy. As for the blanket performance. . .I love it.

far superior quality to sunbeam
I bought soft heat throw after owning the sunbeam heated throw. This throw is worth the extra money. I'm sorry I tried to save a few bucks on a sunbeam throw. The soft heat throw is superior by far to the sunbeam heated throw I bought at Costco around Christmas for about $20 (see below review). The cords in this throw are almost impossible to feel and it is very soft and comfy. I would use this throw just sitting around even if it weren't on. The material is very soft and the controller, which sits remotely like a regular electric blanket controller, is easily accessible. The plug is easy to remove from the blanket for washing. This is a much better choice than any sunbeam blanket. My thoughts on the sunbeam throw I threw in the trash the day my new soft heat throw came in the mail: The sunbeam throw has a very few huge stiff cords running through it. The cords are held in place by a few tied strings located more than a foot apart on the throw. These strings are very easily broken leaving the heating cords to move and not heat large portions of the blanket. The portion of the sunbeam throw that plugged in is located in a most inconvenient place with a too short cord and it is impossible to find or reach the controller. The cord plugs into the middle of one side of the throw about 8 inches from the edge. This leaves about a foot of cord sticking out that, depending on whether you put it on top or bottom. My feet were constantly tangled in the cord or the stiff cord stuck up in my face. Mysteriously sunbeam put the controller on a cord about 3 feet long originating from the plug in site. This configuration necessitates finding the cord, reeling it in, and finding the controller. The sunbeam timer (auto 3 hour off) never worked and the controller is so easy to bump that I was left having to reel it in every time I felt cold or hot and check it. There is a clip on the controller to supposedly clamp it to an accessible place on the blanket. Because the cord is too short this leaves the only viable location you can clip the cord to the blanket requires the rather large plug to be in the center of your chest. The plug is so large and cord so stiff that this is uncomfortable no matter what you do. I could not remove the sunbeam cord plug from the blanket without breaking it so washing was impossible. Not that I would have trusted it for use after washing it. About 3 months after use the blanket began to heat only in a 1-foot radius around the power plug. The controller also began to be warm or hot whether the blanket was turned on or not. Update: 2015 - my blanket died today after 3 years of heavy use much to my dismay. Amazon no longer shows this as available. I only found it on electricblanketdepot.com and ordered a new one right away since several outlets were out of stock for months to come. The controller failed last night and refuses to stay on more than a couple of seconds. I am disappointed that a replacement controller at 4elec.com for $19 is unavailable and I was forced to buy an entire new blanket. Nowhere else are replacement controllers available that I can find. I love the blanket so much that I forked over for the entire blanket again after reading recent reviews for other brands of heated throws I felt none could compare with Soft Heat. I will never buy another Sunbeam throw again after the horrible experience I had with their products (see my sunbeam throw review). Update-I received my new Soft Heat throw and am a little disappointed it is not as heavy a throw as the one I already own in animal print (pictured). It is nice to have both weights so that I can choose whichever throw seems most comfy for the temperature. The new throw weighs about 1/3 as much as the animal print throw and is a solid color light green (from electricblanketdepot.com) It is a still very nice throw and works the same as the heavier throw. Both throws have the same low voltage almost imperceptible wires inside. Both make soft enough throws to use without using electricity. Same as last time the controller would not stay on longer than 3 seconds. I called and sent an email asking for help. Within 48 hours Electric Blanket Depot called me and said they would first send a new controller. I received it in 2 days. The new controller worked and has been fine ever since. I am pleased with the company's response. I still like the older thicker blanket better. I use the thicker blanket on bottom and put the new thinner blanket on top. Note the thinner wires and technology in these blankets mean it does not get hot to the touch like older blankets. It does get very warm to feel if you lie under the blanket. I'm not sure why this is the case but it works very well and I don't end up waking being too hot. I like the heavier throw because it covers me better and is more cuddly/cozy. The great news is that the new controller is the same as my old one so I can use it for both throws. I will continue to look for and will buy a replacement controller for future use when I find it. It would have been nice to spend $20 on a new controller rather than $78 (free shipping over &75) for a new throw. I suggest anyone that does buy any throw to buy a second controller for future use. My first one lasted 3 years of nearly daily use. Amazon's only similar offerings totalled $87 with free shipping and wouldn't have arrived for another week or two. I opted for electricblanketdepot.com $77.95 and free 2 day shipping. Saving $10 and a couple of weeks was a no brainer since I can't live without my throw.

Lasted 2 seasons, then 1 controller died
**Update #3 - Received the new controller 1 week later. It works just fine. Given responsive customer support, I'm going to leave my review at 3 stars. **Update #2: Called customer service and was helped thoroughly and efficiently. A new controller is being sent out. Raising product from 2 to 3 stars. I'll leave it at 3 if everything works w/ shipping and functioning of the new replacement controller. *Update #1: Their "support" website is not working...Why is a company support website dead? [...] This is a huge red flag... I will have to try their customer service number during the daytime. One of the controllers died this past year and I am now getting around to replacing it before winter comes again. There is a 5 year warranty according to the manufacture and I'm about to test out how easily this process is. I'll update my review once I'm all done. Pro's: Having 2 independent controller's is wonderful. The blanket is soft and we have washed it several times and it seems to hold together well. The coils throughout the blanket are well placed and provide a good even coverage of heat exchange. Con's: One controller stopped working and it's a good thing it's under warranty still because finding a replacement is next to impossible aside from Ebay. I worry that this product will become obsolete once the warranty has lapsed due to the fact that finding replacement parts might be next to impossible.

best thing ever
It's a warm blanket even without plugging it in. I think it's some sort of thermal material inside. the only annoying thing is that the plug on the blanket gets loose often, and also when I use it just as a blanket the connector sometimes hits me in the face :( it really hurts. like I feel my facial bone getting hit.

Worth every penny. Warms the bed beautifully
The BEST blanket for a cold bedroom. Worth every penny and more. Wish I had had this blanket my entire life. Out of the box, I was surprised and discouraged by lots of plugs and wires. I didn't realize that heat was adjustable on each side. Perfect! My husband likes it hot and I like it warm. Just get it in the bed and plug the wires in. Enjoy. Beautiful. Wonderful. Life changing product.
