It's quite
Perfect for air brushing. Works great and isn't so loud.

Original purchase broken, replacement also does not work correctly
The moisture trap and brass connection between the trap and the tank do not line up correctly. You want to have the moisture trap/regulator line up vertical to the floor when screwed into place. They do not. When I tightened down the trap on the first of these I got the brass connector to the tank sheered off and broke. Took a month to get a replacement. Customer service was good. Replacement also has issues with moisture trap. After only a dozen or so hours of use my airbrush 'spits' water and attempts to drain the trap fail. Autoshutoff does not work at all. This comes down to me being penny wise and pound foolish. I should have just plunked down the extra money for the more expensive Iwata or Badger instead of burning through the same amount of money on two cheap Chinese made compressors that both broke after light use for less than a year.

It will surprise you how quiet it is -- Fantastic compressor for modelling
I am just getting back into model building after a break of 45+ years. I had a little compressor from Badger back then and WOW was it loud!!! I liken it to my garage air compressor I have now that I have to wear earplugs for... Well needless to say the D3000R is a tad quieter -- I have it sitting in a space on a bottom bookshelf (it really is small) in front of my work station and when it turns on to fill the tank it sounds like a soft, almost soothing, fast paced "buda, buda, buda, buda" sound. I read the the sound level was 47 decibels but it really takes hearing it to really appreciate how quiet the compressor is. I have used it in one room while my wife was sound asleep (and remained so) in the next -- with both doors open! The pressure gauge is accurate and easy to set. The only negative I have heard about this is that it may be underpowered... For my applications in model painting, it has more than enough power. I spray at between 12 and 22 psi. This little machine can push 45 psi all day so I am a very happy camper. I was going to go with the Badger Aspire Pro compressor but went with the D3000R. Other than the cover on the Pro and an additional $57.00 I can see no difference between the two. Super glad I went with a quality Paasche product. Get it and you will be too!

but it scared the crap out of me
I have found out that this compressor is a Chinese made unit and just has the Paasche name stuck on it. A lot of American companies are doing this now and I find it deceptive. I bought this compressor and used it for about 3 months with a Paasche airbrush. One day while spraying with it I heard an odd groaning sound comping from it when the compressor motor stopped and it was quiet. I leaned my head closer to the unit to see if I could tell whet this was. It was coming from the area of the regulator and dial face. I touched that assembly and it increased slightly. So, I tried to see if I could tighten that connection and stop the sound. The brass connecting nipple BROKE suddenly and the air, under whatever pressure the holding tank is under, all blew into my chest and face a once. I was’t injured, but it scared the crap out of me. I called Paasche Tech Help and described my experience. At first Chuck (the Customer Service Rep, who did an excellent job of helping me) wanted to send me another brass nipple and have me replace it myself. But, after considering the situation, he told me in another call that he was just going to send me another whole compressor. And he did, although it took about month to arrive. The newer compressor works fine so far, with no groaning. And no explosive release. BTW, this Point Zero compressor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004KNDQCM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=JH804W5XFXSZ&coliid=I2BSCDD0V8GO9H looks exactly like the Paasche D3000R, but costs less. I haven’t bought one so I can’t say for sure, but it looks just like mine.

Decent compressor for the money.
Going to start with I am not a pro at airbrushing. I have been on and off now that I started on Warhammer miniatures I find using an airbrush making things a bit easier. I've used the Badger Airbrush Compressor Model 80-2 before back in middle school and that is a workhorse being a novice it would keep going whatever I threw at it. Things I do not like is the regulator and moisture trap it seems like they slapped it together and I have to play with it from being upside down to upright. And sometimes leaks air. Packaging could be a lot better. Yes, it is manufactured in China for Paasche. Noise? What noise? For me, it is very pleasant where I can have it right next to me and sounds like a cat purring. It turns off at 57 PSI and turns on at 43 PSI. From the time of using it, it will bring me many years of enjoyment and if you have an issue with yours just call up Paasche or Amazon they are there to help.

Good product, but you're on your own for assembly/usage instructions.
There isn't much of a manual with this product. As a beginner to airbrushing models, I wasn't totally sure how to use this, or what the plug thing on the tank was for. It's not hard to figure this stuff out, but it does require some internet research (YouTube videos, etc., were very helpful in learning about how to use features of airbrush compressors). My first big obstacle was the fact that the moisture trap/regulator assembly, which you attach to the tank yourself, was upside down once it was fully screwed on. I solved the problem by removing it and applying some Teflon tape to the fitting before screwing it back in. With a little trial and error, I figured out the right amount of tape to layer on in order to make the moisture trap end up vertical once fully screwed on. It has been working like a champ ever since.

Fine Job for Me
The description here says 1/8 HP, but my model says 1/5 as does the Paasche website; anyhow, I assume 1/5 is better The first airbrush compressor I have ever owned; I've only had it for a couple weeks so I can't say how long it is going to last; seems pretty sturdy and well-built though; unfortunately, I tightened one of the fittings a bit too much and it broke - kind of my fault, though I would think a better quality metal would not have had that happen to it; replacing the fitting wasn't really an option because it converted 1/4" NPT to some metric - you can get that part from Paasche, but it will cost a fair bit; so, I just used the extra fitting and bought a male to male 1/4" NPT and that worked; the compressor came with more than enough teflon tape (which was necessary to help make the connections air-tight) The compressor is fairly quiet, but does come on every so often; it didn't bother my spouse who was in the same room as me; it doesn't bother people in other areas of the house, or wake up the kids while they are sleeping; I suppose if you ran the compressor right by your head it would be a problem; its only loud if you manually release the pressure release valve, as the air empties from the tank rapidly; the compressor does get pretty warm, so I wouldn't use it in an enclosure; I'm using the compressor for fairly low PSI applications - miniatures and models - I've never gone higher than 20 PSI; the regulator seems to work fine; couldn't tell you whether the moisture trap is doing anything - I live in a super-dry climate and I've never seen a drop of moisture collect in the trap; Anyhow, I'm new to air compressors for airbrushing and so I don't have anything to compare this to, but it seems to be doing a fine job for me

Nice compressor
I have only had it for about 4 weeks, but so far it works like a charm. It's cheap, performs good and is very quiet. The only negative I can think of would be that it's a US company so if something breaks or so there might be some complications, but I have faith :)

So far, so good!
Five or six hours into actual use, and the compressor lives up to its claims of quiet and steady air. I airbrush miniatures in the 20-32mm scale range and I tend toward lower pressures than a lot of others I know. This has delivered a very steady 15psi through regular use. Even at compressor on/off I have not noticed any appreciable increase/decrease in airflow. You get approximately 60 seconds of air at 15psi before the compressor turns back on. From a full tank, you can continually draw 15psi without any pressure dips for over ten minutes (which is the amount of time I tested), but the compressor does run for the entire time. The unit does get hot, enough that touching the heatsink would be more than uncomfortable. It is very quiet, as advertised. With music on in the background, I didn't actually notice the compressor turning on and off. The sound of air leaving my airbrush is louder (due to proximity) than the compressor at the end of a six foot air hose. I haven't had this machine for very long, so in the event that it begins to perform poorly, I'll update this review. If it happens that I try a higher PSI, I'll also report back my results.

Awesome compressor!
Absolutely awesome compressor. I added a third party regulator to it to tone it down a little. It's super quiet and doesn't heat up at all. Very good purchase. It's so quiet in fact that I regularly forget to turn it off when I'm done painting.

Feels a bit cheap
The first one of these I received was missing the tank nut, which wasn't a deal breaker as I have a spare. However, the metal plate with the markings on the regulator was so badly bent that the needle would get stuck around 30 psi. It also leaked so badly where the regulator and tank connected that I could hear the hiss from there. There are two settings, one that works like every other compressor with a tank, where it shuts off when the tank is full and kicks back in once some of the air has been used. For some bizarre reason, there is another setting where the compressor is always running, even when the tank is full. The noise level is very good (low). I would say that this compressor "works", but it feels more like a cheap knockoff than a mid-range hobby compressor. Compared to a Badger TC910 that I also own, it is far inferior in every meaningful way. Edit/Update: Amazon very quick sent a replacement (5 stars there; it arrived in 2 days). The replacement however, is also defective (regulator). So this gets dropped to a 1 star.
