Warm Parka - Weak Zipper - Odd Pocket Placement

Bought this to take care of livestock on cold, windy, and rainy days. Works great. Not too heavy or bulky. Stayed warm and dry. BUT, ... the zipper is tiny, plastic, and a little difficult to get started. Looks like it will break or pull out very easily. AND, ... why did they put hand warmer pockets at thigh level, instead of at chest level, and flap pockets at chest level, instead at the thigh level? Like someone read the pattern wrong. My arms are not long enough to use the bottom pockets as hand warmers, and the chest pockets have flaps and are too high to use as hand warmers. That said, I bought one for my husband and one for myself. They work for most of what we need them for, to stay warm and dry during stormy wet weather.

Description is inaccurate/incomplete + other issues

I ordered a jacket similar to my 15 year old worn out Columbia jacket. This jacket seems to be quality but I have multiple issues. 1) Description states "adjustable cuffs" but this jacket has the knitted inside cuffs which can not be "opened up" on warmer days. 2) I ordered the same size as my old one and while the jacket I got fit well, it was a good 6 inches longer than my old one. Hey I don't want to have to reach down to my knees to connect the zipper. 3) After trying it on, I put my old jacket back on and discovered this new one is not as heavy nor as warm. 4) I assumed the inside liner would zip out like my old one but it is sewn in.

Horrible quality zipper. Absolutely pathetic quality

The parka itself is really nice. Feels thick and warm and there is no question about its protection against the cold. However, THE ZIPPER. It is really bad and it broke within just 3 months of me buying it. I handle my clothes really carefully so I have no idea how it broke with normal use. I have to send it back to Columbia to get it repaired and they don't cover the shipping costs. It will take atleast 2 weeks to repair and add 2 more weeks to account for shipping time. Meanwhile I am left without a jacket and I have to buy a new one to survive the winter. Absolute waste of money and I would not recommend anyone to buy it just because of this poor quality zipper.

Very nice parka

This is a good "big coat" for when it is really cold and storming. I like that you can snap or zip or both. The adjustable hood ties are a little stiff but are a nice feature to keep the wind out around the neck. Lightweight - seems very cosy.

Very warm, zipper breaking is inevitable

This coat has been extremely warm for me. I live in rural Alaska. It's not uncommon for some winter days to be -30. Usually I would wear this with a fleece underneath and a trapper hat and it kept me plenty warm. Lined pockets keep my hands warm as well, and have zippers to keep the weather out. Everything on this coat is perfect--except for the g**d*** zipper! I read reviews saying that the zipper is the weak point, and so made a point to always button the flap after zipping in order to relieve some of the stress on the zipper. Doing this, and being careful not to put too much stress on the bottom, I managed to make it through one winter season before the zipper began to separate from the coat. This summer, I thought about replacing the coat, but justified in my mind that I could just continue for one more season and it would probably last most of the way. Nope. 2 weeks into this winter, the aglet fully separated from the bottom of the coat. This coat cannot now be zipped at all. Since things take months to get here, I'll have to wait until the spring to get a new coat for next winter, but I will not buy another coat from Columbia if there's even a whisper of a weak zipper.

Almost Perfect

4.5 Stars. As I write this - I am the ONLY reviewer that is not an Amazon Vine reviewer (aka...they all got the item for free). I paid for mine. I had it on my watchlist and waited for holiday sales and pulled the trigger. It is now even cheaper so a great time to grab! I got a 2x and it fits as I expected. It keeps you damn warm when being attacked by frigid wind. The cuff lining on the sleeves help tremendously. The lining may look a little weird, but it works and the coat itself isn't terribly heavy. It is exactly what I was looking for. My only negatives - the hood(detachable) is pretty flimsy. I suppose if you had a stocking cap on you'd be good. The zipper has given me issues - like you have to really be diligent to line it up otherwise it will spread. Maybe this just takes more time to become second-nature.

Different fit and quality to the same article in retail shops

It's a really great 5-star jacket when you get the right fit and item. My 1 star is not a reflection on the actual item but on getting something incorrect from Amazon. Tried on in retail shops. The small was just a bit constrained for layering underneath so chose the medium. The medium was not available so ordered on Amazon. Same Columbia description but the product number was different. (Who ever looks at that) The medium I received from Amazon fitted like an XL. I eventually found a medium in retail and compared the two. The Medium from Amazon was larger by inches in all directions than the medium in retail. Also the item from Amazon did not have the omni-heat lining in the sleeves. So either a different product or no quality control.

Nice warm winter jacket

This is a really good, lightweight and comfortable jacket that can keep out the winter cold. Only problem is the cheap plastic zipper, its junk. It will constantly break, splitting at the bottom end or near the middle. This issue has been posted by many people over the years (on different Amazon reviews for other sizes). I'm surprised Columbia hasn't addressed this, they usually offer good quality and fix their mistakes if needed, not this time. My wife sewed on a good steel zipper for me, now I have a great winter jacket.

Manteau confortable mais la fermeture éclair est en cours lactique et à brisée dans les premières semaines d’utilisation…..décevant! Je vais devoir l’apporter à la couturière.

the Ultimate of Warm (200gm insulation) ! (but zipper can be improved)

i wish the zipper were of LARGE teeth + 2-way : however, this is super warm for even -15C, and a thin layer of polar fleece would handle -30C or colder, easily ! VERY GOOD DEAL, especially when on sale. . . Fits large (roomy) for layering.
