Sun protection without being hot!

Wore this shirt all over Vietnam. Sun protection but without being hot - comfortable sizing for plus size. Lightweight, easy to pack (and rinse out after tour of pagoda on a hot day). Love the color!

Nice silhouette, pockets too shallow

I liked the fit and the color. The fit is cut for a woman but what i was really looking for is deeper pockets to fit my phone, pockets were too shallow. Had to send it back for this reason.

Looks Nice, Not breathable, 100% Nylon NOT Omni-shade fabric

Columbia Women’s PGF Bahama Long Sleeve UPF 30 Breathable Fishing Shirt, Light Lichen, Large. First thing I noticed was the sleeve does not say Omni-Shade on the left upper arm. That means it is not the fabric I wanted for Hot weather. The fabric feels durable and slightly lighter than some, but not breathable. The fabric is wrinkle resistant but not wrinkle free. Proper washing instructions say wash, and hang to dry but taking time to smooth out the wet creases was better before hang drying. As soon as I put this shirt on I could tell it was not breathable fabric, it's 100% Tactel Nylon. However, the upper back is fully vented. Both the sides and across the whole back is a flap that is tacked at the corners and with a single tack in the middle of back flap to keep it in place allowing the breeze to travel under and cool me off. The inner layer of that same area of the upper back is a soft Polyester mesh. I have wide shoulders and the shoulder seams sit right to the edge of my shoulder points at 17 inches across in this size Large PGF Bahama Long Sleeve. Any less shoulder width and it would not have worked for me. When I hold my arms out in front of me touching hands together the side shoulder vents allow more rounding of my shoulders so more stretch ability. The shirt is fitted and rides up without any armpit room. When I pull both shoulders back as in rowing a boat, it pulls at the center breast buttons of my 40C, and the arm pits seams are pulled forward and up by my chest. In other words there is no extra fabric around the chest area. The sleeves are exactly to my wrist points so when I put my arms over my head the cuff raises by 2 inches up my arm. Also because it is form fitted, it makes it difficult to roll up the cuffs. If I roll the cuff to below my elbow, the inside tab to button it up in place is too short. If I roll the cuff up above my elbow to button it in place, there is too much fabric at my elbow bend for extended periods of holding binoculars or camera and the fabric binds too tightly. The fabric however holds a rolled cuff nicely all on its own between wrist and elbow. The Chest pockets are well positioned on the chest and single Velcro uncomplicated. The length is only minimally longer in the back than the front. I want to love this shirt and it would probably be my favorite shirt if it was the Omni-shade fabric that breathes. I’ll keep this one for cooler mornings and evenings for layering and cool weather trips for protection against mosquitos.

Functional and Fun UPF 30 Shirt

This is the second Columbia Women's Bahama Long Sleeve Shirt I have purchased this month, and I have ordered a third. For years I have looked for sun protective clothes, and never found any for any price that I was willing to wear more than once or twice.When the first one of these shirts arrived (in Collegiate Navy), I knew this was a shirt I would wear regularly and immediately ordered one in Isla from a different supplier. I live in the very sunny high desert of New Mexico, and am a photographer and gardener. This spring I was treated for a small skin cancer and some other precancerous changes. My dermatologist has stressed hats, sunscreen, and sun protective clothing. COLUMBIA Sportswear Omni-Shade UPF 30 has the Seal of Recommendation from the Skin Cancer Foundation. I can put on sunscreen in the morning and not have to reapply it every two hours in the areas the shirt covers. This is a functional shirt with two pockets that close with Velcro. The sleeves can be worn long with the cuffs buttoned, or rolled up as shown. It washes easily and dries quickly. It has a much-appreciated back vent. I would consider the shirt in Medium too large if I planned to wear it buttoned up with nothing else. But I will use the shirt as a layering piece to throw on when I go out of doors, over tank tops or tee shirts in the summer, and warmer turtlenecks in the winter. This shirt is what I have been looking for for years, and it fits my lifestyle perfectly. I like the colors I have so far (Collegiate Navy and Isla) and would have every color if I could afford that. The hat in the picture is the Joseni hat in beigeJOSENI Women Floppy Sun Beach Straw Hats Wide Brim Packable Summer Cap (Beige) . It is not UPF rated, but it is a cute hat that I'll wear for brief outings such as running errands in town or going to lunch with friends. I'll wear the Columbia Women's Bahama Long Sleeve Shirt anywhere and everywhere I go in daylight hours. Five Stars for a product that is both functional and cute. Edited July 22, 2017: This summer I have purchased a total of four of Columbia's Women's Bahama Long Sleeve Shirts in different colors: Isla, Tiki Pink, Collegiate Navy, and Fossil. I purchased the first only because my dermatologist strongly suggested I wear sun protective clothing. These have become my favorite shirts - lightweight, wash and dry easily, great range of colors, sleeves that can be worn down or rolled up, plus handy, useful pockets. They are great for active women who are out of doors and want a little extra sun protection. Perfect for layering.

I love this shirt and color!

I already have this shirt in other colors but I like this color the best! Navy blue. I am 5'4 and 105 lb I got the medium. It fits perfectly for me. I used to stay out in the sun a lot when I was younger and I've had skin cancer so I like to be protected.

Sleeves and body too short

I have several columbia tamiami button down shirts that fit great. I wanted to try the Bahama shirt but it was made like a petite shirt. The sleeves and length were so much shorter and the material was much stiffer. If you are closer to 5 foot then this might work. My 5 foot 8 inch body looked like I was wearing a shirt 2 sizes too small but more than wide enough for me.

LOVE this Columbia top

I am an older woman approx. 175 lbs, 5'6". Often clothes are not flattering on me. I love the way this Columbia top fits. The shoulders actually fit me & I find the style so flattering & rich looking Also would be light for a trip (& easy to wash in a sink & have dry quickly on a hanger.). I purchased more than one at a great price because I just think it is more flattering to me than most tops. I did not rate it for working out because I have not used it that way. Just a well crafted, smart looking product.

Review of PFG Bahama Long Sleeve UPF 30 Breathable Fishing Shirt

I like the idea of these types of shirts, being UPF quality to it, and the material is breathable. I returned this shirt as it was too big even though I followed the size chart. The material of the shirt was fine, and liked the button up tab on the sleeve to shorten it. The green colour of the shirt however, was not what I thought it would be. It looked to me to be similar to the Operating Room personnel wear as scrub suits. I will continue to look for a shirt of this characteristics in the future.

Order a size larger.

I have two of these shirts I’ve been wearing for ten or more years, size L. Ordered this in size 1x to get same fit. The two I have had for 15 years are my favourite shirts. They are still in very good shape. You know how every now and then you buy an article of clothing or a pair of footwear, and you get more wear out of it than all the rest of your clothes? Well, that is how these shirts are for me.

Style and fit

Nice style…However if anyone needs update on sizing….they fit small. I tried to follow others reviews and size chart. Started with a large. But I am 44-45 bust and needed the1x. It’s Perfect. Will buy again.

UV protection

Fits perfect, light and is great whe are Fishing in the sun. My husband and I do not regret these purchases. We wear them whenever we know we will be out in the sun for a long period of time
