SUPER cushioned feel, and great for wide feet too!

I always order Wide size with Columbia. compared this to the Columbia Trailstorm (W) and Columbia Newton II (W). This wins hands down. Issue with Columbia Newton II: wide size is still too narrow, shoe is heavy and stiff sole Issue with Trailstorm: very narrow, waterproof has leaks and gets my socks wet. But very cushioned sole. Narrow sole and prone to rolling my ankles. Peakfreak: cushioned sole (same material as Trailstorm), but wide enough for my feet, and guaranteed waterproof! Wide sole and very stable for my ankles. Five stars!

Comfortable, dry, and warm

First pair of Columbia hiking shoes. Replaced my North Face Hedgehog. Shoes are comfortable and didn’t require any break in. Feet stayed warm and dry even in 10-12 inches of snow for about six hours.

Comfortable and keeps my feet dry.

I don’t have much bad to say about this boot. So far it has been great, keeps my feet dry and plays well (with proper insoles) with my plantar fasciitis. Wish they were a bit stiffer though. I work outside 8 hours a day in all weather. In the winter my feet didn’t get cold and had no problem in shush or snow I wear a 10 1/2 extra wide and they fit me perfectly.

Piccole

Solitamente con Columbia prendo il numero esatto - porto un 43 - ma questa volta il 43 era piccolo ed ho quindi dovuto fare il reso. La scarpa è in ogni caso leggera, ma non la consiglierei per trekking impegnativo ma per passeggiate tranquille.

Demasiado amplio.

El producto es de excelente calidad, pero es demasiado amplio (largo y ancho). Tuve que devolver el producto y tendré que comprar 1 talla más pequeña que mi medida normal.

Solide Wanderschuhe

Bei Wanderschuhen nehme ich immer eine Nummer größer als üblich, das hat sich bewährt. Eigentlich 42/43 lag ich auch dieses Mal mit Größe 44 genau richtig. Die Schuhe sitzen perfekt. Ein wenig Geruch (nicht sonderlich unangenehm) am Anfang, der aber beim „Auslüften“ schnell verflog. Das sogenannte ‚Eintragen‘ habe ich beiläufig im Alltag ohne Probleme bewältigt. Die Schuhe sind gut verarbeitet. Sie sind als wasserdicht deklariert. Das wird sich erst im Dauereinsatz bei miesem Wetter bewähren. Schon jetzt war festzustellen, dass sie eine recht gute Haftung bezüglich der Sohle aufweisen. Diese ist – wie leider üblich – nur geklebt. Nach langjähriger Erfahrung weiß ich, dass das in der Regel dazu führt, dass nach einer bestimmten Anzahl von Jahren sich der Kleber und somit die Sohle löst. Das ist auch bei Schuhmachern bekannt. Aber, soweit ich weiß, gibt es auf dem Wanderschuh-Markt keine Alternative, außer man wählt genähte Lederschuhe. In diesem Preis-Segment ist ein „Made in Vietnam“ jedoch nicht unüblich. Das Schweizer Modell wäre dreimal so teuer. An der Verarbeitung ist insgesamt nichts auszusetzen. Ein großes Plus sind die Schnürsenkel, die sich nicht wieder öffnen, wenn man sie ordentlich verschnürt hat (Es wird häufig genau an diesem Detail gespart). Ein wenig muss man beim Reinschlüpfen in den Schuh aufpassen, dass man nicht an der obersten Öse mit dem Socken hängen bleibt. Am besten den Schaft ein wenig auseinanderziehen. Fazit: Ich gehe davon aus, dass ich mit diesen Schuhen lange auf vielen Touren Freude haben werde, mit dem Wissen, dass ihre Lebenszeit begrenzt sein wird.
