Half the price of the Columbia Web Site!
Save a lot of money ordering multiple pairs. Been wearing these for years. They wear well and clean up easily. Useful in many arenas. Very comfortable. Drys fast!

Look great!
Gift to husband. He has had several spots of skin cancer, that's why I chose these. They look great on him and are comfortable!

Debunking the belt issue...............................................................................................
Debunking the belt issue: First off, 1st or 2nd review of a couple hundred purchases on Amazon. In short, I love these shorts and there have been some reviews that voiced a concern with the belt; however, they are somewhat misguided. I'm writing this review because they are by far my favorite shorts and really, really do not want them to ever be discontinued.... For some reason, Columbia stitches the cardboard tag for the shorts through the belt of the shorts on the RH rear side. A typical consumer, myself included, just rips off the tag, puts them on and goes about his business. The problem is that the two threaded stitched loops that were used to attach the tag typically DO NOT come off when that cardboard tag is ripped off - they stay there attached through the belt. As a result, the belt is attached to the rear of the shorts and will not slide to adjust when tightened. A simple solution is to use a pair of scissors to cut those stitched loops off. At that point the belt is fully adjustable and actually works really well. AGAIN, JUST CUT OFF THE STITCHED THREAD LOOPS THAT GO THROUGH THE BELT USED TO ATTACH THE TAG. I actually almost threw a pair away for this reason, but was going to cut out the belt for other uses and came across the stitching. I wish they would note this, or even better, not stitch through the belt, but they've been doing this for years. COLUMBIA, DO YOU READ THESE??? As mentioned before, these are by far my favorite shorts and I have at least 8 pairs. I wear the shorter 9" ones for wade fishing or jet skiing. I prefer the 11" ones for hiking, general around the house duties or going out. They are a very comfortable nylon, are cool, very fast drying and breathe extremely well in hot weather. I live in Ohio, but spend a lot of time in SW Florida and these are comfortable in both locales. I'm 5'-10" and about 170#, well.. 180#, and the mediums sit well and don't have to be hiked up all the time like other shorts. The 11" hits the middle of my knee and the 9" hits a hair above the kneecap. There is a mesh brief inside that is not too tight or to short, so undies are not needed to be worn. They don't fade, I have had none fail in stitching, they don't pill, hold up to 100's of washings, are stain resistant - seriously they are darn near perfect. I honestly can find no fault with these shorts other than the issue with the tag stitching and that's easily remedied. There's a zippered side pocket for phone or wallet and two front pockets. None in the rear. I'm surprised that nobody else pointed this out, but it is not really obvious. I really don't write reviews, but I'd love to hear your feedback on this one if that's how it works. -JK

Really nice
Got these for my husband for vacation. He says they feel so light and comfortable. They packed super well because they’re so thin and they weren’t all wrinkled. The style is so nice he could wear them on excursions or for a nice dinner.

This swimming suit is awesome! Like other reviews
This swimming suit is awesome! Like other reviews, the suit is a bit large--but not by much. I am completely satisfied with the fit; hence, the 5 star review. I purchased a medium, which I would say would fit a 32-34 in waist; however, it's made for those closer to the 34 inch waist. Also, I'm 6 ft, and the suit comes down to the middle of my knee. (Apparently, there's a shorter version, a medium 9; but when I ordered a straight up medium, they sent me a medium 11--I was happy because that's what I wanted all along. Actually, now that I'm looking at the picture on the ad, they look exactly as advertised). The suit is water repellant (which is kind of funny for a swimming suit), has solid construction, dries super fast (due to the water repellant feature), blocks out UVA, and tightens with a belt as opposed to stupid draw strings. As other reviews stated, you have to cut the tag off of the suit and cut through the thread when doing so. That frees up the belt to move around the waist, as they sewed the tag to the suit through the best. Not a big inconvenience, considering how awesome this product is. Adding to its coolness: the suit can easily pass for a pair of casual shorts (as other reviews suggested), and can be worn for that purpose if desired--they're that comfortable. The cargo pocket closes with a zipper (a nice/secure feature), but the pocket's a tad on the small size. If you were wearing the suit as a casual short, you couldn't fit a wallet in the pocket. But for swimming, nothing's coming out of that pocket for sure. Overall, I would buy this again and highly recommend it to others. My only complaint is the way the suit's size is advertised. Again, I'm happy that the medium I ordered ended up being a medium 11; but I'm not sure that's a guarantee with this product.

No fly
Great fit, very comfortable. A bit panicked when looking for the fly when you forget what pants you are wearing. Having no closure at the waist an no fly will have you pulling up the leg in a hurry.

All types are nicely finished with the exceptions I will discuss below
This is one of three types of Columbia shorts that I just purchased. All three types were made in Vietnam. All types are nicely finished with the exceptions I will discuss below. The shorts have two good sized side pockets and a nicely sized zippered pocket on the left leg. This particular type is very close to the shorts that I have been wearing for over 20 years on our trips. They are very comfortable, look nice, and dry quickly. I selected the 9 inch inseam, because those fit me just at the knee. Com;paring these shorts to the Whidbey shorts, the material in these are stiffer, but still very comfortable. I find having the zippered pocket on the front of the short to be superior for travel in areas where there are known pickpockets. Rear zippered pants are at higher risk for undetected attack. The third type, the Backcast shorts, also have two deep side pockets and zippered back pocket - like the Whidbey shorts, and additionally have a small fourth pocket on the right hip for which I can't really find a good use. The Backcast shorts have a drawstring instead of a belt The shortcomings of the Palestine Peak short are the same as the Whidbey - a really cheap belt buckle and the fit and finish of the shorts where the belt inserts into the waistband are not as nice as they could be. For that, the shorts get a four instead of five rating.

Comfortable yet unable to keep their color
Comfortable as they come but don't expect the color to stay. Both these, and another pair I purchased became light pink sort of like skin color fairly quickly which was disappointing.

Great short with a relaxed fit.
I have a few of them and really like the colour, fabric and mesh liner. A very flexable short whether near water or hot and humid weather, I'm always comfortable. The relaxed fit is just that, offers enough space in the thigh and waist area without feeling tight.

Rugged and small
I hate the texture, it makes me cringe, it's like that rugged feeling you'd get from cheap winter coats in the 90s, they're cool to wear but small on the fit too, if I could; I'd get them refunded... I won't be purchasing much Columbia in the future
