You'll probably have to order up one size.

I have a 28" waist and 38" hip and all of my jeans are sizes 4 or 6. Based on other reviews, I ordered a size 8. They're a touch too big at the waist (totally still wearable), but there's no way I could go down a full size. They're definitely baggy in the behind (though I don't actually have a behind, so maybe that's the problem). The legs looked super wide out of the package, but looked normal once I put them on. The material is nice and light so I expect I won't sweat to death in them and that they'll dry quickly. They look completely ridiculous rolled up into capris. But maybe it was because I had hot pink knee socks on at the time--I looked like some sort of weird munchkin from the Wizard of Oz (I'm 5'8"). I took off a star because, while I expect heavy creases where they were folded in the package, they're also pretty wrinkly elsewhere. I'm hoping that after washing and hanging dry that I don't have a wrinkled mess on my hands. I plan to take them on a two month hiking/camping/road trip and, while I don't need to look polished on the trail, I was hoping to be able to wear them OFF the trail, too, and not look like a slob.

Ok pants, odd sizing

My measurements almost exactly fit the chart for size 6, with my waist being slightly smaller at 27", but these were very snug in the hips. If your hips are a teensy bit over the chart measurement you'd have to size up for sure. They just aren't going to be comfy for moving and stretching. You can see in the photos they're stretched to the limit around the hips. Unfortunately, when I tried a size up in black, the pants were HUGE! I included a photo for comparison. The difference is very odd, in my opinion, with the 6s being almost exactly the body measurements stated and the 8s being 42" around the hips with a 34" waist (they do sit low--not a natural waist measurement). It seems plausible that their sizing just isn't consistent and it's the luck of the draw, but who knows. It's too bad I'll have to return these, because they look like just what I wanted, and I like the idea of the roll-up option, though mostly I planned to wear them as lightweight mosquito protection for hiking and working in my yard. Sigh. Back to the drawing board.

Run's Much Smaller Than Normal Size

I have 4 other pairs of Columbia pants that all fit great, so I ordered the same size in this one. I thought maybe they sent the wrong size, it fits like it's 2 sizes smaller! Order a size or 2 larger on this one. I do wish it would have fit, the pants itself is exactly what I was looking for - light weight and all.

Great travel pants for hot weather

I wear this type of pants all the time when we travel, which is about 8 months a year, and its hard to find them at this price. An 8 is always an acceptable fit; I am under 5'4" and I wish I could find more "short" to buy. But at 115 lbs the 8 is good, and I carry my extra weight in the thighs. I like the length they are when folded up also and the attachment to hold them in place is fine. The pocket on the leg is large enough for my cell phone. To be perfect the leg would be a bit narrower at the ankle, but that is being hyper-critical.

Runs very small. Order at last two sizes bigger.

Sizes with Columbia is usually accurate. These pants aren't. Size way to small and length too long to where I’d have to gave them hemmed. Sent back and didnt reorder.

Don't wear to the airport!!

I was looking for a pair of pants that would roll up. Bought them for a vacation. We live in a cold climate and when we arrived in the warm climate I would roll the pants up and not have to change. I love them. They are exactly what I was looking for. However at the airport twice I had to be frisked by security. I laughed about it because I knew I wasn't trying to get anything on the plane. The second time they showed me the screen and it lit up in the crotch and in the pockets. Have no idea why. There's obviously something in the pants that is making it do that. If it weren't for this I would give 5 stars.

Great Product, Sizes are TINY

I am usually a size 6 or medium in most brands and usually for Columbia. I have tons of clothes from Columbia but I couldn't even get these on. They were WAY too small. The fabric was light and soft but the only downside was that I couldn't get them on to enjoy them. I will not reorder because I don't trust this pant model for me. If you want to buy these, order at least two sizes up.

runs very small

They are well made but run about a size or two too small. I have an Eddie Baurer pair in 14 that fit perfectly and noticed someone mentioning that they run small so I order up one size and it was still too small. I ordered three pairs in different colors and they were all different running from The black pair was WAY too small, to the Sage was too tight to the lightest tan pair almost fit, but all were the same size. Very skimpy. so disappointed as I am leaving for SE Asia in three weeks and now have to find other brands to order and rush delivery.

Run very small but great hiking pants

I followed the advice of other reviewers and bought these in a size 10 when I normally wear a 6-8 depending on the brand. I am petite curvy with a butt and hips and they fit me perfectly. They are fairly baggy in the legs but I think this is the style. I will need to hem them (about 4") due to my 5'0" height, but otherwise great. They are also very lightweight

Odd sizing

Loved the colour and the fabric however something was wrong with the sizing. I have over four pair of Columbia pants all size 10. This size 10 fit up my legs but there was no way to even begin to zip them up, let alone squeeze in, so small.

Disappointed

Look nice, but the pants fit like a size 6, not a 12. Might have an incorrect label as I by them in the store and they fit fine.
