Think this is okay !
So, I am not a professional and to be honest at many times during this process I had no idea what I was doing. All of this started because I was using the manic panic 30 volume bleach kit on my long hair that had colored blonde ends and naturally brunette hair. I was originally planning on bleaching the ends/middle to dye them Wella’s frosty ash and T18 toner but after showering off the bleach my head was strawberry blonde with one brown chunk in the back and my ends were lemon yellow. I applied the frosty ash dye and toner anyway so I had a strawberry blonde head while everything else was grey. And before you ask...yes i used Wella 20 vol developer for every toner and dye. In the past, I had dyed the hair ends of hair and a few highlights on my head with the same manic panic bleach and Wella sand blonde dye and it looked good. So I am not sure why the bleach spread and covered my whole head this time. In the process of trying to get rid of the grey I was dyeing the grey hair Wella’s sand blonde. Also during this time, in a panic, I ordered more bleach and this dye to redye my hair, waiting almost two days after trying to get rid of the grey with the sand blonde dye. Day one: For this dye, I wasn’t sure how much lift was needed to make this dye work, but I re bleached my whole head, including what had already been bleached and dyed (my hair was not happy and I knew it). I tried to lift as much as possible. Think this dye requires 10 levels of lift(?). The pictures with my review highlight my progress starting from the shower after re bleaching my hair. I had super light roots and and some strands but a lot of my hair was lemon yellow to pale lemon yellow or even lighter. I had wet hair in the after bleach picture at at some other stages, and we all know that hair looks darker when wet. After I let my hair air dry a little I dyed it with this, left it on for around an hour and then showered it off, hoping to remove the yellow in my hair. It did and I was happy ... but then as it dried, all I could see was still yellow in my hair. So I went to sleep. Day two: woke up and applied the dye to dry hair, then waited an hour and rinsed off. I wanted to get my hair looking like the blonde that this dye is supposed to make hair look like, and I guess I just might just need to apply more to make that happen. Or something in this process was wrong n that’s why it didn’t work on my first try. But for now, I need to give my hair a rest. I am thinking I will add more dye of this dye in a few weeks. Until then, I’m using anti yellow shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner, which I’ve included a picture of. If it is true that this dye requires a lemon yellow or a pale lemon yellow, my hair (or at least almost all parts of it) had that level of lift. If my hair needed to be lighter, I also had very light (almost white) bleached hair. Everything was bleached. I left the bleach on an absurd amount of time. I couldn’t tell (still can’t) what level of bleached hair this dye showed up better on. As I keep messing with my hair and this dye I will keep this review updated. I am ride or die (dye lmao) for Wella Products but I am not so sure what a non professional is supposed to do to make them work to their potential. I understand the allure of going and getting your hair professionally done but I’ve done that, I’ve gotten nothing past the tips of my hair colored and it’s cost me almost 400 each time. So for now I’m doing it myself. At the end of day two, I straightened my hair (which I’m sure is bad enough but it’s ok!) once it had air dried. I also made sure to do some hair masks during the most recent shower after rinsing off the dye. My hairs always been super dry and it’s really really dry now (the ends especially) so I will be trying to manage that as well as the color. Does the tone down the yellow? Yes...but possibly not enough/over time? Or, depending on how much you bleach it? I had hair with some of the lightest level of lift and I don’t think it showed up on that but I also could be wrong. Also the smell...smells like death. But all Wella dyes and toners and developers would never win an award for the best scent, as far as I know. So yeah, this is alright. I’m sure if I get it to the color advertised I will be happy. But of course, all of this could absolutely 100% be user error, but I did try my best given the unseen results and circumstances. I’m just wondering why the bleach spread to all over my head the first time. Like that was wild. Anyway, I think you should try this out and see how it goes. I don’t regret using this, because I don’t think my hair looks that yellow now, so I’m sure it can’t make anything worse. (The lighting in the pictures (not so much the natural light) is slightly yellow) I will update this.

PRETTY GOOD STUFF!
My salon used this on my hair and now I color my own hair….WAY cheaper and looks even better! I went to Sally Beauty to get some, but they close at 7pm now, when the other shops in the strip close at 9 or later…..SO…I ordered here that night and got it the next day. I like the gel…it’s not runny. I give it 4 stars because it IS stinky, like most hair color and probably not healthy at all, but….my natural color is black now, and the 6N/611 turns it to a soft brown or soft reddish brown, depending on how long I choose to leave it on. I looks really natural too! In fact, I have super short hair, and when I wore it black (natural) for a few months, people thought I was coloring my hair black instead of my “natural” soft shade. :-)

Happy.
It did come out darker than expected, but maybe it’s made that way to allow for some initial fading. It covered my grays, and it feels soft and healthy and it worked in 20 minutes. Will buy again, maybe there’s a color called “lightest”neutral brown or something like that. I’m just thrilled to not see all that gray right now.

tone your hair before using this, yellow shows through.
kind of aggravated at this color. usually i can get away with dyeing my hair the lightest ash shade possible to tone it, instead of waisting money on a toner that doesnt last. i used to use revlons lightest ash blond, or their silver blond, but i started getting hives from their color. so i switches to wella color charm bc i never had an issue with their permanent gel colors before. i tried the lightest Aa shade of this, & it didnt really do much. i used 20 vol, & yeah it gave it an ashy look, but it was almost like a translucent ash. the yellow stayed behind & thats not an issue ive had before with permanent colors. im going to have to tone, & then color at this point..no, my hair wasnt poris, i spent 3 years as a cosmo & i know how to take care of my hair & prep it properly, but this color just isnt as strong as the photos. the yellow shows through & my ocd is flairing. tone first! 3 stars bc no hives so their ingredients are honest..went over this with adore baby blue & it looks mermaid aqua...

Excited to find on Amazon
The store I use to purchase this hair dye at is no longer carrying this brand. I was so excited to find it on Amazon…and it was actually cheaper than what I had been paying, so I stocked up. It is pretty easy to follow the directions and apply. Definitely wear gloves. I usually leave it in about 5 minutes less than what instructions say, because in my hair if I leave it in the full time it turns too dark. The color looks natural and really does not dull overtime. When my hair grows and those wonderful grays start to reappear, I just do the roots. Half a tube is more than enough for the roots.

3A Darkest Ash brown
Used 3A darkest ash brown, a lot of the reviews said it was like black so I was skeptical however it’s 100% not black. It gives the perfect dark brown with no copper/red. This is right after it’s dyed, and I added a before picture for comparison. I went with one of the darkest ones because It is going to fade, I find with these dyes it goes strong for 3 ish months before it starts to fade, but obviously that will also depend on how often you’re washing your hair. I usually use the liquid toner but I actually liked the gel I found it was a bit thicker and easier to apply, also less smelly.

Very dark
I ordered used 5A/246 Light Ash Brown. I had read in a few of the reviews that it turns out darker than expected. I still decided to give it a try - still deciding if this was a mistake or not. It is very dark, more like a dark ash brown. Like another reviewer said, it is very disappointing. I’m hoping it lightens over the next couple of weeks of washing. The colour is inaccurate so I gave a 3 star review, however my hair feels very soft and it’s very shiny. So the formula is good, but the colour is much too dark

The only thing that works to get out brassy tones !
FINALLY. I’ve tried so many different toners/purple shampoos/Demi permanent dyes and this is the one that landed. The colour turns out darker than you think (I was a level 7 to begin with and it looks a lot more brown indoors) but I finally got rid of the brassy tones in my hair. I tried so many other products from igora, fanola, joico, and it turns out this $10 Demi permanent dye was the winner ! As others have mentioned, go lighter if you want it will darken your hair 2-3 shades, mine came out darker than expected but I still love the tone. If you have thick or long hair definitely opt to get 2. I didn’t use the activator (it’s basically just 6% developer so I used my 20 volume from wella). Left on for 20 minutes as instructed and it already got quite dark.

Definitely buying again!
This is a review specifically for 1-N Black/Noir. I love this dye. I dyed my hair roughly 2.5 months ago with it and it has yet to fade. It doesn't shine purple or blue in the sun which I LOVE. Definitely a true black colour. This dye also doesn't bleed when you wash your hair in water that is as hot as the devil's lair, which is a major win. (Just make sure you wash with cold water until it runs clear after you apply it) If you've been considering switching from semi-permanent black to demi-permanent black, just do it. Your life will be a million times easier. I have yet to try bleaching out the black, but I will update this review when I do. EDIT: The dye is a bit difficult to bleach out. Depending on the level you want to lift to, youll definitely need 2 or 3 bleach sessions.

10 NA demi, used to blend gray
I have coarse resistant hair, dark blonde; this coloured adequately using Wella developing lotion with 30 min process under plastic wrap. Overall colour remained dark blonde, yellow tones. Fairly natural, boring colour. I can understand complaints of this product darkening hair. Somewhat drying, used half shampoo/half conditioner to rinse out then deep conditioning. Hair is smooth but dull, lacks shine. If I were not so sensitive to the chemicals (smells) I would return to the Wella toners for colour result; however the demi process is low odour and I may continue to use the 10NA.
