Excellent quality
We have been using the same XL black/black collar for almost four years with our 132 lb German shepherd male dog. The collar works beautifully and has no flaws of any kind. We are very satisfied with our purchase and highly recommend this handcrafted collar.

Horrible Color, Beautiful Leather Craftsmanship
The collar appears extremely well made. In fact I have not seen leather this well made in any place other than a specialty store for ranch animals. The point for me was to buy a collar that would hold up well, in a color that would be bright and visible without having to buy a nylon collar. This is the first collar seller I've found that provided that. We were originally going to order the lime green. But, on insistence by the resident boss (Toddler), our dog is a girl and girls like pink, so I ordered the pink/black. The image shows a bright hot pink. That being said, on arrival the COLOR of the collar was not at all as expected. It looks like a very muted maroon color... in fact it matches the collar classified as "red" on the seller's web page more so than the pink as pictured. A bit misleading. It makes me wonder what that vibrant lime green color would have looked like. Upon opening the package from amazon, toddler proclaimed, "Hey!! That's not pink!". If you are purchasing these with a color matching ideal, don't. They don't match the images online. As to the durability of this item, will update as she wears it. If this was from a store, I would probably return it and pick out a different color. I would rather have all black, or a blue of some kind than this muted salmony color collar that we have. However, it isn't worth the hassle of returning and waiting on getting a different color, especially with how well made the collar appears to be. The quality of the leather collar and workmanship surpassed expectation. The holes punched within the leather are oblong, uniform, and easy to insert the post through. Not like a lot of leather collars that have a simple hole you have to line up and push through. The stitching is heavy, and should last quite awhile even with other dogs tearing at the collar at the dog park. The leather is thick, and stiff, not a flimsy strap. The hardware on the collar even went a step further than any store bought collar I've purchased thus far, leather or otherwise and included a separate leather strap to hold the excess leather down to keep the dog from chewing the end, whereas most collars only use the D-ring. The bar the strap gets inserted through before you put the post in has a roller on it to help feed the leather through the ring. Beautifully designed, very impressive workmanship.

not the same collar I got 2 years ago.
The purple and brown is the one I just ordered and got last week. The turquoise one is on my mastiff I got over 2 years ago. Definitely not the same I did no maintenance on the collar I've had 2 years and his is holding up great he 160lbs. I ordered a collar elsewhere that just fell apart. so I decided to get my basset heeler the same collar as him.I am disappointed. hers is all scratched already. Maybe i can clean it up? But if I haven't had to do anything with his, then what's the difference? I'm super sad with the rest of the changes as well and unsure what to buy for my big guy his has held up but was hoping I could get a new one for him also.

*Very* pleased! (with collar *and* leash)
A very well-made, sturdy collar - not to mention attractive! I was a little apprehensive about the black-and-white snakeskin not "showing," per the photo at the time, its being on the inside, but this is not an issue. I got the matching leash, as well. No worries re the snakeprint not showing there! My hands tend to blister and cut easily, or just become sore, so I usually wore bicycle gloves or the like when walking my large, and strong, dog. I don't need them with this leash, as the padding in its handle makes it comfortable for me to hold onto - even when she's mid-lunge, having spotted a person or dog she must greet *immediately*! I assume the collar is just as comfortable for her to wear. (I figured a "leash review" would be relevant here per this comfort factor.) UPDATE: I'm taking away one star; the end of the collar is too short to stay for any length of time under the "loop" meant to hold it down. (I'm using the second hole from the end, so of course this won't always pertain.) I worried about the collar coming off, so have fashioned an elastic hair "tie" to act as a second, very tight loop. I had just about an inch of leather to "work with;" if I had to use the first (closest to the end) hole, I'd have had less than 1/2 inch. They put these loops on for good reasons - perhaps primarily to prevent a dog's snagging a loose, hanging end on something - so this is something I wanted to point out. Also, I just discovered, while measuring, an inch or so around tear on the edge of the interior "snakeskin," which I now realize is lambskin. I don't think this material was mentioned before, but I could've just missed it; I have a "thing" about it. So; the leather is very durable, the lambskin not so much, and I'll have Krazy Glue on my fingers for a week. So, I strongly suggest you call and ask for measurements re the hole placements.

Beautifully Crafted
We bought this collar for Doug, our Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix, in the hope that it would offer a comfortable, durable, and attractive alternative to the ubiquitous nylon collars we'd tried before, and are in no way disappointed in this purchase. It IS a beautiful collar: soft, cushioned, and supple. The collar appears to be very comfortable for our dog, colours are lovely, and it looks to be made to last. Our one complaint is the same as many others have already stated: namely, the unused portion of the strap is long and lacking a retaining loop to hold it in place; nor is there a way of cutting it without risking the unravelling of the stitches. My husband's fix for this was to bore a hole and add a very short screw and bolt, which seems to work suitably well and still allows for us to remove the collar as needed. It would however, be nice not to have to MacGyver a solution in the first place. In any case, it was still more than worth the purchase price and I do recommend the product.

Well made leather
I am very pleased with this well made leather collar. I got the brown lined in pink and it is a beautiful pink. It looks great on my Belgian Malinois. This was a good purchase.

Good looking but very stiff.
Not as padded as I thought. Hard to put on and take off cause Its too stiff. My dog doesnt like it. I would recommend getting a regular one. A bit pricey. I paid 35$ for this and I bought one at the vet for 10$ today.

Excellent Collar
Great quality, thick real leather. Not the cheap garbage you come across so frequently these days. Looks great and my pup seems to enjoy it. Fair warning though, I bought large and it is huge, she's only a 6 month old GSD, so she has room to grow, but it's on the tightest hole and the end was flapping around like crazy, so I had to use velcro to make sure it doesn't flap around anymore. All in all, I would highly recommend this collar.
