DON'T WORK; READ THE DIRECTIONS

I have been struggling keeping our kitty from attacks food in the kitchen. tried different barriers and a remote shock collar. The shock collar worked but only when I was standing around. So, I thought I'd try Pet Safe Proximity Fence with this collar. I got the collar and put the battery in and locked it in place - NOTHING. Tried a second battery but still nothing. Thinking it was defective, I returned the collar and got a replacement. I put the battery in the second collar and again NOTHING!! Finally, I READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY. I noted that you turn the battery until it points to "on". I looked carefully and did indeed find "ON" although it is very hard to see. I turned the battery until it pointed to "ON" and it worked!!! Has been working great ever since. Having problems, READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY!!!

It works and is perfectly safe if you know your animal!!

First and foremost,...I NEVER write reviews. But, I felt compelled to after reading probably a hundred reviews before purchasing this system. I was very hesitant, but unfortunately, after trying everything else, I had no choice but to try this. My cat found the dog door :/ She is my most curious feline (I have four cats, three dogs and four horses) and I could not keep her from going outside once she realized she could. We live in the desert...surrounded by LOTS of predators and she is the perfect size. So...I decided to give this system a try. Firstly....know your animal and their health. My cat is a young, healthy feline. Secondly...and probably the most important step in this process...when you are setting up the system and making adjustments...try it on yourself first. YES....I said try it on yourself first. I put the collar on my cat at the lowest setting....she stood next to the controller while it beeped and played with the dog door. I turned it up a click, tried it on me and then put it on her again. Again, she stood next to the dog door and ignored the collar. So...I turned it up another click and yes, shocked myself! That level got my attention and guess what, it got hers too!! It did not hurt, but it definitely registered with me, so I was ok putting it on her. That was the very last time she's gone near the dog door. She walked near it...then got a small shock, which resulted in her leaving rather quickly. She hasn't been back near the dog door since. Cats are curious but also very smart. They will not get "shocked" over and over...they will figure out very quickly the cause and effect. I have been fostering cats for many years and I would never, ever use anything inhumane on one of my animals. I even use humane catch and release mouse traps! This system works and if it's a choice between a small shock and my cat getting eaten by a coyote or owl, I'll take the shock.

Worked until cat was big enough to jump over it

Installation was fairly easy since we have a 6ft fence around most of the property and a 3.5 ft fence along the front (1/4 acre - but we needed the extra twist tie to have enough wire to keep back door clear of beeping). The warning flags worked as a deterrent. For training, I carried the cat up to the flags and turned quickly when we heard the beep. The cat was used to being on a harness (since he learned to climb/jump the fences at an early age) but he wasn't cooperating with the idea of me leading him to the flag line and pulling him away. I sat outside and kept an eye on him after the third walk around the property in two days, letting him roam free. After two shocks (lowest setting) he avoided the flags. At 9-months old, our kitten (who now weighs close to 12 pounds) figured out he could jump high enough up the fence to avoid shock - he was chasing a squirrel when he discover this (as I watched from the other side of the yard). We kept increasing the power of the shock, but no luck. We're contemplating buying another roll of wire to make a double loop higher up the fence, but that won't keep him from jumping over the lower fence :-( For now, I just sit outside with him and have lunch, work, or read a book while he lays on or under the picnic table. It was just nice to be able to let him out by himself while I stayed inside when the weather was bad.

replacement item

We purchased this item to replace a previous model we had. The receiver works very well, however the collar it is attached to frays easily. I used an old collar to temporarily keep the previous receiver in place on one of our cats. Maybe upgrade the collar and it'll be a much better product.

Waste of time and money & now my cats are traumatized.

I knew I was taking a risk thinking this would work on cats but I was still hopeful. It wasn't hard to install (even having to cut a hole across my asphalt driveway) and it does work (tested it on myself). Where it failed for me was training my cats. My sweet, easy going cat would let me put the harness and leash on her but she got so freaked out by the leash/harness that she ran to the door to go back inside. Once inside before I could get the leash off she bolted through the house getting the leash caught on a wrought iron coat rack that proceeded to fall over (thankfully didn't land on her) and dragged the coat rack around the house kncoking over vases and breaking things until I caught her. That was Fail #1. The other cat (orange tabby) was the one I really got this for because he escapes anytime someone visits. I can't for the life of me get him in his harness. I tried slowly getting him used to it rewarding him with treats. After 2 weeks I finally got the harness on him. He was doing fine outside on the leash until he got wrapped around our grill and went ballistic when the leash was tugging at him. He was so scared that he was doing flips 2 feet in the air to try to get out of the harness. He managed to wiggle out and got loose with the shock collar on. Thankfully the landscapers were mowing our neighbors yard and he never got near the invisible fence. I opened a door to the house and he ran inside. Fail #2. So that was a complete waste of my money and time.

Except for the collar…

It took a while to train our cat to this, but it actually works in the end. She has been without leash for the past 5 days and seems to instinctively know the boundaries she should stay within. I just wish the collar was a breakaway one, or could be adapted as such. I’m worried it might cause her problems when she’s out exploring the yard.

remplit parfaitement son rôle

J'étais vraiment très sceptique avant l'achat et l'idée de conditionner mes chats par impulsion électrique ne me séduisait pas du tout. Mais je cherchais un moyen pour lutter contre la prédation extérieure et les accidents afin de cantonner mes chats dans ma propriété. J'habite en campagne varoise non loi d'une route très fréquentée et ici l'espérance de vie moyenne des minous est de 3 ans, encore moins pour les chatons (à cause des renards notamment, des oiseaux de proie, des pièges des chasseurs et de la circulation routière). Ma propriété est principalement clôturée par des végétaux ce qui rend le système anti-fuge très performant car les chats sont naturellement freinés à l'approche des limites (par rapport à une zone sans obstacles). J'ai pris soin de couper les branches en hauteur et tremplins naturels passant au-dessus des clôtures et de régler la zone de déclenchement à environ 3m du fil. Le système fonctionne parfaitement avec une circonférence de 400 m de fil autour de la propriété. Pour info il me manquait 10m fil mais j'ai fait un ajut avec du fil en cuivre de 0,7mm vendu en magasin de bricolage. Idem si vous devez réparer un fil cassé, cela m'est arrivé en me prenant dedans mais chose très pratique, le boitier émet une alarme sonore assez puissante quand le fil est rompu quelque part, ce qui vous prévient immédiatement. Je tiens à préciser que mes chats sont fugueurs et très bon chasseurs, ce sont des norvégiens qui excellent dans l'art de grimper. Grâce au système ils ne pensent plus à vagabonder (j'ai installé la clôture il y a 4 mois) et se concentrent dans le jardin qui est suffisamment grand pour eux. Il est primordial de les éduquer avec le collier pendant un certain temps. Pour moi ça a été 3 jours par chat. Promenade avec collier et harnais au début sans impulsion mais avec l'avertisseur sonore le long de la propriété. Puis impulsion force 3 (ils ont le poil long). Ce n'est pas douloureux j'ai testé à la valeur maximale sur moi-même mais ça surprend comme un petit coup d'élastique sur les doigts. Lorsque mes chats étaient surpris par l'impulsion je les tirais par la laisse vers l'intérieur de la propriété et les caressais pour les rassurer et leur signifier que la zone de sécurité est à l'intérieur (dès fois qu'ils paniquent et pensent à s'échapper vers l'extérieur). Ils ont compris naturellement très très vite. Je les ai lâchés librement au bout de 3 jours et les ai surveillés une bonne semaine. Tout a été très naturel et au bout de quelques semaines j'ai pu enfin dormir tranquille sans surveillance (enfin presque car un renard visitait régulièrement le jardin, j'ai donc été obligé de monter une clôture électrifiée extérieure... Vous l'aurez compris j'adore mes chats!). Sur le même collier j'ai mis en plus un traceur Weenect (en vente aussi sur Amazon, lol je deviens commercial!) ce qui me permet de les retrouver immédiatement si malgré tout ils arrivaient à passer (alerte en cas de sortie de la zone définie sur le traceur qui marche lui aussi très bien en zone rurale) ou si Maître goupil accomplissait son forfait (fort heureusement les chats se sont aguerris avec l'âge et arrivent à faire fuir le renard mais je pense qu'un chaton ne ferait pas long feu...). Mes chats ne regardent plus vers l'extérieur, sauf accidentellement pour suivre une petite proie mais sont stoppés net dès l'avertissement sonore, les oiseaux dans les haies qui font clôture me remercient , bref l'appareil remplit bien ses fonctions pour le moment.. J'espère que mon expérience sera utile pour ceux qui sont dans le même cas.

Génial, mais !

Voilà, j'ai acheté cet outil, car je devais "confiner" mon persan, pour éviter qu'il puisse aller trop prêt de ma clôture, sinon risque de... bla bla bla . Je savais que ce produit fonctionnait bien pour les chiens (vieil électronicien...), mais j'étais fortement sceptique pour son usage avec des chats. Le net m'a "dit" que si, ça "marchait" et, en effet, testé/utilisé, ça "marche" ! Toutefois, AMHA (A Mon Humble Avis) cet appareil fonctionne avec des chats s'il y a une clôture physique (et j'ai des témoignages là dessus), Car, si pas de clôture physique pour briser son élan, le matou, très, très vif, emporté par son élan, sa chasse (même si c'est après de minuscules sauterelles) franchit la clôture électronique, prends sa dose de décharges électriques et se retrouve de l'autre coté, la barrière électronique l’empêchant de revenir et là, c'est la merd... :( :( MAConclusion : A mon avis cet outil est génial, mais, pour des chats, n'est utile que s'il y a aussi une barrière physique, c'est absolument indispensable !

Fonctionne très bien et fonctionne avec un émetteur plus ancien. Mais anarque sur les piles

Collier acheté en remplacement d'un collier ayant plus de 10 ans et qui ne fonctionnait plus. Ce nouveau collier fonctionne très bien, fonctionne avec l'ancienne génération d'émetteur. Le bruit du "bip" d'avertissement est identique, il n'y a donc pas eu besoin de faire un ré-apprentissage. ATTENTION : Cependant, le système de pile des nouveaux colliers est clairement abusé. Format "propriétaire", donc piles hors de prix pour une durée de vie très limité. L'ancien collier fonctionnait avec des piles "basiques" cr2032, que l'on trouve facilement à petit prix. Celui-ci nécessite des piles RFA-188, format fantaisiste.

Prix élevé mais ça évite de perdre ses chats

Cela faisait un moment que je voulais investir dans cette clôture. Nous avons un petit terrain mais à côté d une route passante. Nous avons 2 chats une de 2 ans et un de 7 ans, tout 2 habitués à la laisse et au harnais. Reçu rapidement installation pas compliquée une fois que l on a compris le fonctionnement. Et mes chats en une après midi ont compris les petits drapeaux ça bip et après le coup d électricité. Après deux coups ils s arrêtent au bip et font demi tour. C est vraiment ce qu il nous fallait. Je recommande ce produit mais pour certains chats qui n ont jamais porté de collier ou de harnais, l apprentissage sera plus long. Tout est très bien expliqué dans la documentation. Juste à voir le temps des piles.

Trop violent attention à votre chat

J ai acheté ce produit dans le but de protéger mon chat car mon jardin est entouré de 2 grands axes . Malheuresement ,mon chat a fait une mauvaise réaction au collier. Le collier etait au plus bas (2 sur le collier), mon chat ,qui est en tres bonne santé ,a fait une crise de tachycardie suite au coup electrique . Apres 1 nuit en observation chez la veto, il va mieux . L idée etait pas mal, mais attention à la reaction de votre chat . Je ne souhaite pas retenter l expérience avec mon loulou
