Outstanding IT Band Syndrome Solution
After many marathon and half-marathon races, the repeated pavement-pounding and cross-training stresses began to take their toll on me at the 21st mile mark of a marathon event in 2013. Experiencing radial discomfort outside of my left knee, I was soon unable to run without experiencing excruciating pain. I finished the race thinking I had injured my knee when, in fact, I had strained my Iliotibial (or IT) band. For those unfamiliar, the IT band is a wide tendon or "fascia" responsible for raising the leg up and down. It extends from outside of the pelvis and down the leg to a point behind the knee. When it gets strained, it tightens up significantly, compressing nerves on the side of the leg - leading to pain outside of the knee. To continue my training, I needed a solution and found it in this adjustable strap. It relieved the pressure on the band, allowing it to heal while I was able to continue running (albeit at a more moderate pace). In about three months - while continuing to run - I was able to increase my distance to where it had been. As a result, I was able to run three marathons in 2014 and one half-marathon due to the relief the band gave me. If you have ever experienced this injury - or want to use it to prevent one - I would highly recommend this product. The only drawback is that, for someone who runs 20-30 miles per week, it is effective for only about 3 months. Yet, despite this, it is nonetheless a near-perfect IT injury antidote or prevention for the long-distance runner.

Good, if only for a temporary fix.
I have had ITBS on and off with running for the past year; I blame my ITBS on beveled roads and my biomechanics. I ordered this product when it was getting to the point that even slowing down and reducing my stride wasn't enough. The Fit: It will take some adjusting to figure out your "sweet spot". Contrary to the picture of this product, this strap works best for me when it's up almost near the mid-thigh region, as opposed to right above the knee. The Strap Itself: This strap works best if you're wearing running pants as opposed to shorts as the "no slip" grip of the band will work best on fabric. Otherwise, on bare skin, you're setting yourself up to having to stop mid run to adjust the thing. Also, on bare skin, when the strap is stretched the band becomes slightly skinnier which would be fine if the velcro also did. Unfortunately, it does not, so the velcro may rub uncomfortably against bare skin. The function: Works well, but buy this in conjunction with a Foam Roller and ROLL THE CRAP OUT OF THAT IT BAND. This strap is not a permanent fix, just a bit of support while your band heals. With a foam roller, you will destroy/prevent any scar tissue, which is important to heal it. Overall: This is a good product and helped me out. I recommend it if you're having trouble with your IT Band.

This product works!
I have been having some issues with pain and weakness on the outside of my knee for the past few weeks. Running made it worse and it would take a few days to a week to resolve. I did some research online and decided to try this product in case it was my IT band giving me trouble. I strapped it on for a one-mile run and felt fine. I wanted to go further, but didn't want to push it. There was no knee pain or weakness afterwards. Two days later, I put on the IT band strap and ran for 3.5 miles, which is my usual distance. I had a twinge of pain near the end of that run, but it resolved with some work on weight machines and a decent amount of stretching. I think this product definitely mitigates any IT band irritation from running. I don't think I would have been able to run this week at all without it. I will continue to use it and be conservative with my running until I am 100%, but I think it is a great tool to help stabilize the IT band and minimize pain and irritation. In fact, I am considering using it every time I run to avoid IT band injuries altogether.

Pain Relief :-)
I suffer from a ITB pain in my right thigh .. it troubles me no end and i was looking for a something to strap it when i run or cycle .... i chanced on this strap and post some review reading i ordered this on amazon. was delivered timely and i am now using it for a few months .. like the strapping and it does give me pain relief when i cycle or run ... however when you run do ensure that you are wearing a inner and strap over else it will chaf the other leg .. no such issues when you cycle as the thighs are far apart .. secondly the strap is tearing off and not sure as to how long it will last now .. however in its defense it has seen lots of use and has helped me a lot

Works great for IT band relief.
Had IT band issues for years. I recently started doing lots of stretches and strengthening of glutes to help combat IT band pain, but I'd still have some pain after some long hikes. I got this to help minimize the pain and it helped quite a bit. I saw similar products at sporting goods stores but they were more expensive and the one I saw was a thinner band. The construction feels solid the part of the band that's closest to behind my knee started to curl up a bit. It didn't affect it's performance, but I wish it retained it's shape better. NOTE: This will only alleviate pain, to get rid of IT band pain you need to strengthen and increase flexibility especially in the hips and glutes.

Helps Patella Femoral Syndrome
In short my knee cap on my left leg sits very high (genetic defect) so I was having some major pain on the inside of my knee when I increased my training. Even though this strap is intended for the ITB, I found that it helped to push my knee cap down a bit, which is what I needed, to help alleviate a great of my pain. The buckle-like closure aids in pulling the band tight for a little compression. The band will slip if you are using it for exercise and sweat heavily. I might have to adjust it once or twice on longer runs (10 miles or more) but that's a non-issue for me. I experience a little chaffing but that is due to heavy sweating.

Great Product - Back up and running
I have genuinely not been able to run for the last 6 weeks for more than 12 minutes before I had to hobble back home. I had just completed my first 3 hour run in preparation for a marathon and felt great, woke the next morning to find I could not walk down the stairs without any pain and things just seemed to get worse from there.. 6 weeks later and very frustrated, I decided to purchase this product... During the day at work my knee felt terrible, like normal, but I wanted to see what this strap would allow me to do in the worst possible circumstances.. I put it on, headed out the door and started to run.. each minute ticked by whilst I waited for the pain to kick in but nothing came so I carried on for a full hour with only the tiniest of niggles. I arrived home, distressed and over the moon. Thank you for this product...........!

Nothing has changed. Maybe not for me.
Tried this strap three times and the same pain at the same moment. 20 minutes running and the pain is there again. I've heard about changing the position of the strap could help to improve but the strap is quite uncomfortable to give it more chances. I'm improving now just stretching the ITB several times a day. Wasted money.

Helped me
I am a runner, had a problem at the back of my knee. Physio suggested it could be the attachment of my hamstring. I had the London Marathon approaching so I wanted to try what ever I could to get through it. I ran the marathon wearing the strap and had no pain throughout. Could be that it was healing anyway or maybe phycological ... but it worked for me.

Rest is for the weak!
This works a treat! I was sceptical as I wasn't too sure how this ITB strap would support my knee. I play a lot of tennis and football and quick turns really aggravate the problem on the outside of my left knee. I put it on as per instructed and was pleasantly surprised how much it did support my knee problem. I don't know the rehabilitation abilities of this strap, but my knee has now strengthened to the point of not needing strap up my leg. Great product and very durable.

Good strap if you really have ITB
I've never been entirely sure whether I had ITB; the physio wasn't either. But I've tried this strap upon recommendation by friends who had experienced ITB. It did a fab job for a long time but I then had to upgrade to a full, closed knee strap. Still I'd recommend this strap if you have ITB.
