???? Yay! Finally a door hinge for the wheelchair!
We have been trying to find this hinge for years! We lived with a curtain, checked all the medical supply stores who have ramps & wheelchairs, then hired a professional to install a pocket door- he took the $ and disappeared ….So, one day while searching the internet I saw a video of a woman holding 2 2x4 wood pieces with this hinge. Finally found it on Amazon! Thank you!

Impressed
In ordering these hinges, two main question were in my mind. First, was how well engineered where they? Second, how useful were they. Answering the second question first is, they are very useful and work exactly as they should. Installing these hinges really opens up the doorway when the door is open. They work G-R-E-A-T! The extra opening space makes all the difference in the world to a wheelchair or transport chair. Answering the first question is, overall, they are well engineered, but could be slightly improved. They are more than strong enough for inside doors. I do not believe they are meant for outside doors. I was worried that I would have to cut into the door trim to install these. NOPE! They clear the frame, nicely. The reason for the 4-star review is due to the following engineering slights (I do mean slights, these are not overly bad complaints and I would rate this product 4-1/2 stars, if I could). - The holes for mounting almost aligned to the existing hinge holes. Not enough to have to perform rework, though. - The hinges do not come apart at the hinge-pin. This makes mounting a little more akward. It would be easier to screw on the hinge halves and then mount the door at the hinge-pin. Not a biggie. - The instructions are in small print on the side of the box and are difficult for an old-fogy, like myself, to read. Do make sure to follow the instructions and mount the hinge to the door FIRST. Also, it's not obviously easy to figure out how to mount at first glance. Looking at them for about 2 minutes had it figured out, though. All in all, excellent product and I plan for more. Order from Amazon, as I can't find them in the local 'big box' stores. Now, I want some heavier duty offset hinges for the front door.

Works great. Bought 3 sets and the finish was different on one
Great. Does the job well. I bought three pair and they must have been from two different batches (or suppliers). One box had a smoother/shinier brass finish than the others. Both finishes were good, and not enough difference to exchange or lower grade. The structural quality is excellent and was the same for all hinges received. Similar quality to most residential interior door hinges. I had to chisel the wood slightly from the doors and the door frames because the original door hinges were not curved as much as the new hinges, but this was not a big deal. The holes for the screws aligned close enough, so no need to me to modify. If yours has a significantly different, fill the existing holes with a wooden round dowel or carved dowel and glue it in hole. Let dry and then drill new pilot holes that are just big enough for the screws fit tightly. We have very large molding with a back-band, but no chiseling was required on the facing of the door trim. NOTE: If the door and trim is very close to the wall, one has to ATTACH ALL THE HINGES TO THE DOOR FIRST and THEN ATTACH TO THE DOOR FRAME. Otherwise the door cannot be opened wide enough to screw the hinges to the door. TIP: HAVE AN ASSISTANT to help align the door with the door frame. The door has to be lifted off the door while screwing the hinges to the door frame. I had no assistant, so in order to raise the door to the correct height for aligning, I put layers of corrugated cardboard under the door itself to get to the correct height. That way, I was able to hold the door in place with my shoulder while aligning and screwing the hinges to the door frame. After hinges are attached the cardboard can be pulled out fairly easily.

Adds width to a door easily
These work great at adding an inch or two in clearance for a doorway. I am wheelchair user, and have been using hinges like this for years to provide a little bit more clearance on the sides of the chair. It is definitely cheaper than having a wider door installed. I will say they are not as sturdy as a regular set of hinges as they have all the extra metal, so if you run into the door fairly frequently, they will bend. Still, I have found them to be a very good tool to provide additional accessibility to my home.

Not perfect but they work.
First, nothing is perfect. These aren't perfect. They only come in sets of two. No instructions so you will have to figure out exactly how they are installed ( The angled part of the hung goes up against your trim on the side of the door swing in-ward & install in exactly the same recessed spot as your old ones.) Save your old screws because they don't give you any. Made of a thinner metal and pin than a normal door hinge. Little bit pricey for the quality. You may have to use a pin punch (or something like a framing nail) to change the position of the pin (up or down) and a hammer. BUT, THEY WORK! I am in a wheelchair & I have been banging up my doors. These give me almost 2" more opening width. The door edge is no longer exposed to my abuse. Much better flow into and out of my bedroom and bath. Like I said previously, not perfect but I would give them a thumbs up for anyone with a wheelchair bound or walker using person in their house. I love them and so does my door.

Works
We had to install these in order to get my husband's wheelchair into the restroom. I thought they would be clunky and ugly. The worst part about them is getting used to opening the door the opposite way, I continue to forget and then feel like an idiot when I am fighting the door. They are really strong and look nice.

Better access for wheelchairs with Health Smart hinges
The hinges did what it says on the box. The door opens to allow the full width of the door frame to be used so that the wheelchair now gets through easily. Decided to get joiner to fit rather than try myself. Have purchased two more pairs for other doors, now that we know it works. Please let Spinal Injuries Association, and other wheelchair organisations know about these hinges. I only found out about them by chance.

Does what there supposed to do.
Absolutely fantastic, saved me the expense and time of having to widen the doorway for my wife who is a full time wheel chair user, who ever devised them needs a medal ????
