Watch out for sizing, but this brace is not for use during sports. this is for injury recovery

BEWARE OF SIZING! The package actually didn't have USA sizing, only EU and UK, which is why people are having problems with the size. Another poster had mentioned that it was way too big. Technically I should have ordered a medium as a size 10 foot and an 8.75 inch ankle measurement. But I am skinny and figured it would be too large in my case. I was right, as I ordered a small and fit perfectly. This type of brace with the plastic inserts is what a doctor had recommended for a past high ankle sprain, and it causes that standard brace limp, which is fine when you need to heal up. I wish the laces were a little longer but works fine, and great product. This is my preferred brand for injury braces, i prefer mueller for elastic sport sleeves or soft braces to use for sport. I get the feeling based on foot size, ankle size, and weight sizing will be different for everyone. I had another mcdavid brace on order from a different vendor for a Medium in case this one didn't fit. When you can't go into the store to try them on you have to take some risks.

Great Support

My daughter uses them for volleyball and they get the job done. She's managed to get a couple of seasons out of them so far, and still going.

Very difficult to get on and off

My physical therapist recommended I use a brace like this when I was going to have a day that I was constantly getting in and out of the car, so I wouldn't have to take my bigger boot on and off. This brace didn't keep its shape after 2 uses and you need the jaws of life to get it on and off.

Very sturdy and comfortable.

I love the look and I feel very safe wearing my brace. My ankle no longer feels weak. It supports my ankle as needed. The only drawback is lacing and unlacing!

An Unfortunate Waste of Money

For the cost, I expected much more from this brace. When playing field hockey I typically secure my ankle with athletic tape (something learned to do from trainers in college athletics). This works great, but I was looking for a more sustainable method. I remembered back in college a canvas brace that a teammate had used, and expected this one to be similar. However, this brace is made from a strange, plasticky reinforced "fabric" that is very rigid and inflexible. I have somewhat knobby ankles and it really hurts the inside of my ankle just walking around the house; I can't imagine playing in it. The brace is also much bulkier than I expected and does not fit well in my turf shoes. Lastly, due to the rigidity of the "fabric" it does not hug the ankle well, and my foot actually slides around in it. All in all, an unfortunate waste of money. I will have to continue using athletic tape. This type of brace *might* be useful if you are recovering from a sprained ankle or surgery, but certainly not useful for prevention in any sport that involves lateral, quick movements.

It does a good job, it's just a bit bulky. I can't fit it into any of my shoes, so I only wear it at home. I'm a nurse so I'm on my feet for many hours a day so its not practical to wear it at work. It does a good job of protecting the ankle, if you play sports then this is perfect!

Great quality heavy duty support

This thing is stiff. To the point it instils confidence in the support it offers. It offers a stiff (although with some flex) plate either side of your ankle. This probably won't stop you going over on it. If it's going to go, it's going to go, and realistically something that could stop it happening would not be comfortable. This finds the balance though, meaning you can be more confident in your ankle holding up, while still retaining a level of comfort. It can however become uncomfortable when for longer periods, with the plates rubbing slightly around the heel area. It also requires loosening of your shoe due it's bulkiness. If you have tight or thin shoes this may be an issue. I've found it to be fine with most of mine. I wouldn't want to wear this on a hike, and personally wouldn't wear it for sports, however did find it very useful to wear generally during the early stages of ankle sprain recovery. I'd happily recommend this to anyone looking for a high level of support.

Awesome!

Awesome Ankle Braces. Once your feet get used to them and the product molds to your ankle shape you will love the motion + ankle protection provided. I also have the Level 3 figure 8 straps and the difference is that this one feels more natural.

Seems like a decent support, its a pity about the awful delivery time

I just received this support today and it seems like quite a good product, certainly better than some of the lightweight supports I've used in the past. It does offer quite a high level of support. The plastic inserts I think would prevent you from using it for actual sports but they would give you an extra bit of stabilisation immediately after a sprain for normal walking. Remove the inserts and I feel you would be able to use the support for normal sporting activities until such times as you are confident in going without. On the negative side of the review the delivery times on this were completely unacceptable. I ordered from Amazon on July 23rd and only received it today, 19th Aug! So effectively its useless to me until I next do myself an injury again. So if you have just sprained your ankle you might be better just buying a light weight support from a local sports store rather than waiting on amazons delivery times. However I haven't factored delivery time into my star rating as my issue was not with the product itself.

Looks weird - does the job perfect!

Top product - was basically having 3 months of what felt like hell playing football after a possible break/ligament damage (i never got it x-rayed). Every time i kicked the ball it felt like my ankle had no strength and basically folded back on me - i lost my confidence in 'striking through the ball' knowing it would go again and again and of course the pain that went with it. I used this for 7 weeks and have gone from strength to strength with my ankle. Don't feel i need to use it any more - have passed onto friends who've had ankle problems - will always be close to hand though should i need it. I did find it a little bulky when putting on my football boots and astro boots but the outcome and benefit far outweighed this and was worth the slight discomfort whilst you got used to it.
