I love this crate and so does my dog
I purchased many many crates for my dogs in the past 45 years, I bought the cheapest and I bought the most expensive. You used to have to get them at the pet store and pay anywhere from $90-$200 for standard great. Thank goodness for Amazon. I just added to my "stable" of dogs with an eight-week-old golden retriever named Bentley. Now he's just a little guy weighing in at 12 pounds but he will get bigger. Right now he fits in a small crate and I mean fits. He can get in it but he can't lay down or turn around. I needed to get him a crate he can grow into so I went online to Amazon and looked around. I saw my old friends Midwest who stood by me with durable crates during my dog show days. They always made a sturdy crate out of heavy-duty material that was well engineered and well put together. It's been a few years since I bought a crate and a few things have changed. Pretty much now everybody offers a folding crate that wasn't so back in the day Midwest was one of the first to offer that feature and they did it well and they still do. They have a variety of sizes more so than most manufacturers so I chose the middle middle size which is a little bigger than other manufacturers middle size. Some of the features I like was this one has double doors, one on the side and one on the end. Each closes and locks sturdily and securely with two hasps on each door. Nowadays the bottom tray is made of plastic instead of steel so with a little lighter and more resistant to corrosion and easily cleaned. I ordered this crate and it came promptly from Amazon as I am an Amazon prime member. It was packaged well and arrived without damage and I had it set up in less than 5 min.. The only problem was the location where I was going to use it was against a wall and the doors were all wrong. Well I solved that by swapping the ends by bending back four hooks on each end, then squeezing them tight again to finish up, this took all of 3 min. to do in my crate or I should say that Bentleys crate was ready to go. One of the big advantages of having the second door is that when I wanted to introduce Bentley to crate I left both doors open so he could wander in and out at his leisure. I placed a few toys and water bowl in their as well as a wee wee pad and some bedding. He was curious and wandered in and out. I will admit however, the first night he was full of screams and barks and crying for most of the night. It was his first night in a crate. The second night I placed him in the crate and he laid down and was quiet until early morning. When he saw me and heard me moving around a little bit he started vocalizing so I took him out. The Crate also comes with a divider so you can change the size as your dog grows. At this point I'm not even using divider and giving Bentley full run of the crate. I am really glad that Amazon is selling these and the price is phenomenal. If you go to a pet store I'm sure you will easily over $150 for this crate or poorly made imitation. I really recommend Midwest and I think you'll be very happy with the quality and the operation of this crate. if you're a first-time buyer, check the AKC standards for how big your dog will be, then buyer accordingly. Don't buy too small as you will have to buy bigger later on. I give this five stars I love it I know you will too and it's recommended buy If you found my review helpful please click yes on the button below I really appreciate your support for that I intend to leave reviews to help others make decisions prior to purchase taste upon my recommendations or disclosure and I utilize your reviews to help me with my purchases as well. my reviews are honest factual and accurate thank you

We bought another 3 months later!
We previously purchased the Midwest double door crate, 18 inch. That was a sturdy, affordable crate we were highly impressed with. Our puppy Pip was so small at 8 weeks (1.75 lb) we believed he wouldn’t outgrow it. We also purchased the Midwest charcoal bolster dog bed to put inside, which was comfy and fluffy. Pip is a chihuahua/australian cattle dog mix, and ACDs are infamous for being nippy/orally fixated; he is such a chewer he kept trying to pull at/eat the fabric, so unfortunately we couldn't trust him being unsupervised with that in his crate. Pip surprised us by doubling his weight 2 months in a row and outgrowing his first crate, so at 4 months (9 lb) we decided to get the 24-inch single door this time. We forwent the Midwest bed insert and looked for something more flat/without fluffy fabric, and settled on the “KROSER dog bed crate mat” which is more of a denim-like texture around memory foam. He settled in without prompting and loves his new big boy crate! You want the crate to be just big enough for the dog to stand and be able to turn around, excess space is not recommended for dogs that are being house-trained as more space means they have less reason to hold their bladder while crated. We use our crate for when we leave the house and Pip is not supervised (at least until he outgrows those destructive puppy tendencies), and during dinner time; instead of him begging under foot he has learned that laying in the crate while we're eating means we will share treats, so he waits in there willingly with the gate open.

Have bolt cutters nearby and weight down the top. Great customer service! And some advice
I broke this into sections, so that the reader can jump to whatever part they want. Weigh down the top of the crate: We almost had a mishap with our small breed puppy (a poo-chi). She was about 6 months old at the time and had been potty trained in it. Since I am early retired, I am home all the time. I also never left the house without her. This is what she became accustomed too. As long as she heard me doing things around the house, she was perfectly fine. I finally decided to take this one step further and leave her in there with the gate locked while I went out for quick errands without her (not more than an hour). She seemed to have no problems with this. When she was 4 months old, my siblings and I threw a 60th anniversary party for my parents. She was crated far longer than normal as the party took place at a catering hall. We got home 5 hours after I left her. Inexplicably, She was able to tear apart a bag of dog food that was sitting on top of her crate as I was staying with my parents for the anniversary party and really didn't have any room to put the dog food bag except on top of the crate. It was inside a brown paper shopping bag and when we got home, my puppy had torn a good section of one side of the bag into little pieces, yet the bag and my dog remained where I left them 5 hours ago. This always puzzled me. Now reading other reviews, it sounds like leaving the bag on top of her crate may have saved her life. It's possible that she was able to stick her nose out enough to get at the bag. Had the 5lb bag not been there, she might not be with me right now. Have bolt cutters nearby: What I did witness scared the living daylights out of me. One time Iwhen I was leaving her behind when she was almost 8 months old and now 8lbs, (I always stay with her for a good hour before I leave just to keep her relaxed.) She already knew what was going to happen and immediately started protesting by trying to bite the bars. I was trying to get her to stop as she has done this before and stopped whenever I asked. Unfortunately, this time, somehow, she fit her snoot through the bars, top jaw on one side of the bar and bottom jaw on the other (this occurred on the vertical bars which are spaced further apart than the horizontal bars). She continued biting despite my asking her to stop. Then in one of the bites, she was completely stuck with the bar in her mouth and her upper and lower jaw not having enough room to slip out. I thought she was a goner as she was starting to struggle so bad and calming her down wasn't working. I tried helping too, but didn't have any good angles to work with. She finally obtained an angle with her lower jaw that she slipped it out and then was able to get the upper jaw out. I was so relieved. She won't even try to bite the bars now, but I never wanted trauma to be the reason why she stopped. While she was struggling, I was going to ask my father if he still had bolt cutters. Just as I went to ask, she freed herself. Customer Service: The part about customer service had nothing to do with this event. I ordered the double door crate for the flexibility of orienting the crate any way I wanted (In fact, I'm about to rotate it 90 degrees today). When I took the crate out of the box and assembled it, ,which was extremely easy, including pushing the clamps down to hold every wall in place, I couldn't figure out where the 2nd door was. It's the first time I was looking at a crate to be honest. There were lots of clamps and other items like the 1 door I did see. I even thought maybe the second door slid up vertical some how, but nope in all aspects. This was a single door unit without a doubt. The box said double door, so I immediately thought someone switched out a double door crate and put a single door crate back in. They have a plaque welded on the side which includes the model number. The model number on this single door crate was, in fact, the model number for the double door crate. Go figure! Amazon customer service referred me to the manufacturer as this was a warranty problem (um, okay?). Midwest customer service asked me to take pictures on all sides including the side with the welded plaque with the model number. I sent the pics in and no less than 10 minutes they called and told me they were sending me a new crate. No questions asked. Beautiful!! Advice #1 (only advice, you don't have to take it :-) ) My dog goes in and out of it all the time because I throw her toys and chews in there to keep her familiar with it. I am using it as a piece of furniture, too. I got a beautiful custom crate cover from Etsy (not unreasonably priced) in a pattern that fits my bedroom. I am looking to get a glass top to make it a table top, too. My puppy is completely comfortable with the crate and I love the idea I have turned it into a piece of furniture without the $400 price tags of furniture crates (well, it will be a piece of furniture once the glass top comes in). The glass top easily showcases the pretty crate cover while protecting it from spills and dust. Once I get the glass top, which is quite heavy, it will also serve to weigh down the top so my puppy can't get stuck between the top and one of the walls. Plus, I am putting other things on top of the table, so it will truly be weighed down well. Advice #2 (only advice, you don't have to take it :-) ) Lastly, don't throw away your old phones. There are apps on android and iphones that help you monitor your pup while you are gone. The one I have functions in infrared light as well, so I can make sure she is okay well into the evening.

Good cage for the money but not the easiest to take up and down
I have used many cages and for the price this is a good cage but two stars docked as to put up and down is possible but not a nano second job however for travelling around the country with my dogs I know it will keep them secure in the car - heavier than I expected

Not as Advertised
First off, when I bought this item it said it was sold and shipped by Amazon.ca. A day after I purchased it, the listing disappeared. It took 3 days to ship out and when it did it ended up being shipped from the states. Second, the dimensions are not what are advertised. The listing says it was 27" in height, but it is only 25", which is a bit shorter than I wanted for my dog and now I'm worried she won't be comfortable in it. And I cannot return it easily as it was shipped from the states instead of from Canada.

Glad I chose this crate!
I love this crate. Assembled in 10 min. Divider is a little bit harder to attach on bottom but that makes it fit properly once it is in. Strong material and 65lb puppy has not bent any part of it. It I put a blanket in the crate but will replace it with a nice Midwest bed once he stops chewing everything up. Once you get the divider out the crate is easy to unclog and fold for travel. Clips together and has carry handles. In the pic there is no divider. I will put it back in today as my puppy is not yet big enough for the whole crate. 5 stars because I find no fault with this crate. I am very happy with the purchase. I paid for this crate so this is an honest opinion.

Perfect Size
The media could not be loaded. The crate does the job however, I have never had such a hard time assembling something. It arrived broke and bent to start off, it was clear someone had already sent it back and with reason. It took me 30 minutes of literally pulling and prying to get the door unhooked from the opposite side of the crate. I’ve attached a short video with no sound because my frustrations are clearly heard. In the video I show where it is bent, and stuck. Overall it does work and does the job, it’s very large, sturdy and takes up a lot of room. My dog loves it, but I was very frustrated and disappointed with the damaged product and the amount of sweat was unnecessary.
