High Quality and Fun
I bought this for my son on his eight birthday. We played it all day and he was thrilled with it. I had a slot car race set when I was a kid, a nice one, and this one is much, much better. The cars got better after using them for an hour or so. I think they had kind of a break in period. They began to hug the track even better than at the start. It has a neat feature on the hand control, it's a removable clip that acts as a governor. When the clip is on it keeps max speed to 70% which is still fast. With the clip in I found I still had to slow down for curves. With the clip out the car is really fast and it requires more skill to race well and remain on the track. But whether the clip is in or out there is the turbo boost button which is so much fun, works very well, and makes the cars just fly. But yet, you can still maintain control with proper bursts of turbo at the right moments. The cars will fly off the track if you give it too much speed but that is a big part of the fun. We laughed often when we'd crash at the intersection or fly off the track. Also the looped track (we always called it loopty-loop) works great. The banked curve works great. Both require additional skill but not too much for an 8 year old. I'm very impressed with the fit and finish. Assembly is easy. Track pieces fit tightly together. Nothing slips apart or moves around while racing. I'm impressed with this toy. I'm planning to buy extension components for Christmas gifts.

Fun, but big!
This is a cool track! The directions aren’t the best but with a little patience you’ll figure it out. It was a gift for my 4 year old & he got the hang of it pretty quickly & loves it. I like that it came with a wall plug so we don’t have to dink around with batteries. It’s takes up A LOT of space! The big factor, also adds to the fun factor. The track seems a little flimsy for the price, I’m not sure it could withstand being taken apart too many times. Overall, I’m happy with it & my kid is extremely happy with it.

Slot car racing fun
I purchased this set so that I could race my 8 year old son who loves cars and racing in general. I had an old slot car track but it took 8 D batteries to power and had no power cord so I decided to look into a new set. This set got decent reviews so I went for it. The track setup was pretty easy once you got used to seeing the way their diagram worked. There are some tricks to getting the car to stay on the track but after you figure out how the contacts need to be set in the car it's pretty easy. The cars are really fast and do handle well, though you can't go full bore or it will fly off the track, which to me is great. You have to learn control. My only complaint about this set is the track pieces use plastic pieces to fit and stay together. I can't keep track set up so we had to take it down to put it away. While taking it apart 2 of the plastic posts broke off. It doesn't seem like a huge issue so far but the second time I set it up the same thing happened. 2 more posts broke off. I was even trying to be super careful taking it apart. I'm a bit concerned that it will continue this way and I'll have to replace track pieces after only using it a few times. Definitely loving the track but they need to come up with a better way to click then together.

Great starter set
So far this was the perfect gift for my 5 - 1/2 y-o grandson. Was a bit concerned that he would have difficulty keeping the cars on the track but in a very short time he mastered the controller. The 'speed limiter' clips on the controls helped. He found the 'turbo boost' button by himself and was able to master that quicker than I did. The three banked turns are really helpful for a beginner to be able to drive fast without the car coming off at every turn. This set, with the crossover and the squeeze section, provides a great level of entertainment for the beginner with just the right amount of possible crashes while still rewarding good car control. I'm glad I didn't buy the set with the loop after reading the reviews. I gave just 4/5 stars for durability simply because it hasn't been in use long enough for any better appraisal, but judging by the quality of everything I'm hoping it holds up over the long term. Assembly was straightforward, though it definitely requires an adult to properly snap the pieces of track together.

Good, old school racing fun
I will start with the one con, these are a pain to assemble all the tracks and instruction pics are tiny. Once set up, all is good until you need to take it apart again. My youngest son and his friends have a lot of fun with it. Once you master the throttle, which does take practice, you will be zipping around the track. At first you will have many incidents of going too slow around the loops, or two fast around the curves, either of which will send cars flying off the track. Most kids will still prefer video based racing games where you have a lot more variety of tracks, cars, etc. Still, if you want something to help reduce screen time, this is a good option.

Not for beginners or younger kids.
This DTM Master Class track is my second Carrera set. The first one was Victory Lane, which I liked better. I am no expert but not a beginner either. Loved them as a kid and now wanted to play with my kids. Things to consider with this one: If you or your kids, especially impatient ones, are new to slot car racing you might want to get a different track to start. This one requires more precise control of the controller or else the cars will fly off the track, especcially if you use Turbo mode which I could only use very briefly on the loops. The end where it goes up about 60 degreees I found to be the most frustrating part with trying to keep the correct speed, most of the time it did not make it around that curve. I gave up with this track and connected many pieces of this track to my Victory Lane set and made a longer, less technical track where I can use Turbo more. My kids also like it a lot more since they do not have much patience and they did not last 5 minutes with this set as is. In summary, if you want a track where more precision with the controller is required, this is good. Anybody else, get a different set.
