High quality gate
It’s so pretty and really looks nice in a home. But I didn’t like the way the door opened and couldn’t imagine myself opening the gate that way several times a day. So I returned it. Also it didn’t come with installation in package like it said.

Inner cat gate let's the dog through.
This gate is supposed to keep out rat terrier out of the hall where we set out the cat food. The gate opening is 10 inches wide which allows the dog to go through, not just the cats. We lock the small Gate when the cats are eating, but the silly things can't think to jump over the gate when they are done. They just cry till we open the gate. Due to the size of our dog vs. cats, I may have to get a friend to make me a gate that has slat openings just wide enough for the cats, not the dog. If you had a larger dog, this gate will be wonderful. Unless the dog can jump it...

Nice looking but really frustrating
I bought this because I wanted a nice looking baby gate that would allow our cat to pass through. I think the gate is attractive and serves its purpose, but I’m deducting one star because the wood inset was scratched upon arrival and deducting another star because it comes with with large, tacky, impossible to remove sticker that totally ruins the aesthetic. After spending 45 minutes, a bottle of goo gone, and all of my patience, most of the sticker is still there. Very frustrating.

Solid Installation
One of the better investments for keeping new pup and cats separate from each other. For marking the cups for a fixed installation, use Frog Tape across the jambs on both side....a short horizontal piece. Locate the centerline of each jamb and run more tape vertically. The 2.5in tap will cover the cups and leave you some wiggle room for getting the plumb line marked at the half way point on the jamb. I used a 4ft level to mark a line down the center. Install the unit to fit the size opening (up to 37.5inches) and tighten up enough to get the entire unit plumb across the front vertical. Use a torpedo level with a magnet back to adjust the vertical pickets across the width. Use a measuring tape to measure the space between the jambs and the first picket on both sides and try to adjust the those to plumb along that axis with the torpedo level. Once the door latches shut and stays shut....take something dark enough to mark the tape around the perimeter of the caps. Remove the unit and then locate each cap once pulled off of the ends to match up the cap and circle. I use a scratch awl and hammer to center the hole to the cap through the Frog Tape. Once you've matched all of the caps to the marks on the tape....use the awl or a 10d finish nail, nail set or punch to mark the holes of the cap through the tape. Remove the tape and then using the packaged screws to mount the caps to your jambs. Reinstall the unit to fit into the cups; tighen up, plumb on face and vertical pickets to adjust the tightening bolts so that everything is square in the door opening. The caps are the preferred installation and if you're mounting in a cased opening (no door stops)....necessary to prevent a pup that will be a dog soon that might be able to push one of the tighteners our of plumb which all alter the other three tighteners and allow the unit to move until it fails. Worked perfectly for each of the two units that I've installed today.

This gate works perfectly and looks very good. If you don’t want a gate that is cheap plastic and wood this is the gate for you.

A great gate for large dogs.
I bought this gate and the smaller version. Both gates are functionally the same and both work great! As a bonus, the small cat door can be easily removed. The connecting rods for the cat door are spring mounted. -Rotate the small door open so you can see the rod through the upper/lower tube aluminum -Using needle-nose pliers and a pocket knife; grasp the rod and lift it, then use the knife to wedge and lever the rod the rest of the way

Not a baby gate
The media could not be loaded. Do not get this as a baby gate lmao. Our chonky cats can get through the cat just fine so it's good for chunky house cats, but also for babies apparently haha. My son is 9 months old and he's able to get through it so unfortunately it doesn't serve the purpose we got it for. It's not the sturdiest either unless you screw it into your wall (it does come with screws). Also, it doesn't fit in our door frames which is why it's in a hallway instead. It's pretty meh to be honest, the wood panels came cracked but it doesn't affect the frame at all.

Just the job to separate pup from cats!
I bought this to stop my 4 month old Labrador getting upstairs and upsetting my cats. In a nutshell, it works brilliantly! Dead easy to install, nice looking (for a fixture I'm probably going to have to live with for a few months, much nicer than all the white coloured alternatives), uncomplicated to use (single handed operation door catch, whereas most others require two hands). It seems sturdy enough but then my pup doesn't jump up against it, probably because it's usefully higher than most of its competitors. The cat door is happily utilised by my moggies, but it is a little too wide and my lab managed to squeeze through it. I solved this problem by removing the cat door and cable tying it back over the frame shrinking the gap, works fine now. Didn't need the extension panels but great that they were included just in case. All in all, a superb dog gate and worth the money.

Great gate
This is a great little gate , my naughty collie keeps getting into the living room when I’m out and barking at the window ! He has defied all attempts to keep him out ,my little cat likes to come and go and her feeding dish is kept in there to stop dog from eating her food . The gate has solved the problem completely although said dog sulked for days when he realised his mischievous ways have been thwarted.i am very pleased with this product.

This is better than the savic tall because of the locking mechanism
I run a Dog Home Boarding Service in Newcastle. I have a need for pet gates as you can imagine ! I have tried three so far, this one, a scandinavian and a Savic tall. This is better than the Savic tall because of the locking mechanism, the free extension, the opening mini door flap and the colour/wood. The Scandinavian gate is a different beast all together as it fixes to walls/frames and opens and closes like a door thus giving wider access and no bar to step over. They all have their uses in different situations and places around the house. If you get one gate .. get this.. unless you need the extra height. Edit jan 2018. Used for 6 months now and remain very happy. I now own 4 of them. have made up some bungee cords with hooks to keep them open yet able to be shut with a shove.. when I don't want them closed all the time. The wall cups mean you can effectively screw them to a wall and I have done this on a couple of them as they can be pushed over with 3-4 large dogs (80-100 kg combined weight) pushing on them in certain circumstances. Edit Jan 2019 This gate is arguably a comparable gate if you need extra height. Unlike the Carlson tall gate, this one opens both ways and slams shut. Poor quality
The gate when installed is okay and sturdy. The side extensions are removable which gives you flexibility to place it where it’ll work best. The general quality of materials is poor, it requires two screws to be used to assemble the unit, the receiving threaded section is poorly riveted to the frame, meaning I wasn’t able to install it. It doesn’t affect operation of the gate but does indicate poor manufacturing standards.
