No guessing

Just plug in your Spektrum smart battery and it takes care of everything including record keeping of how many times each battery has been charged! Pretty cool!

Arrived damaged

Ordered this on sale for $115.00 and got it a week later to use with my new Spektrum G1 Smart batteries. Opened the box and heard something rattling inside. As I continued unwrapping the plastic from around the charger itself, 2 small screws fell out of the plastic. Turned the charger over and things continued rattling around inside charger and I noticed 2 of the 4 base mounting screws were missing. I did test the charger on 2 Smart batteries and it seemed to work well, but I didn't trust it. Whatever impact it took to break something internally and knock those screws out of the base could have messed up some of the electronics and possibly cause it to fail early. I'm sure Spektrum wouldn't cover it under warranty if it needed to go back within the warranty period. I wasn't given an option to exchange it for another, so I returned it which means I would have to pay the regular $149.00 if I wanted another. I decided to purchase a HTRC C150 charger instead since it was much cheaper ($56.00) and I'm already familiar with the older Imax B6 charger which works the same. Plus, I already had all the leads for my different batteries from the B6 I could use with the new C150 and wouldn't have to pay extra for new leads to go with the Spektrum charger. Hopefully I'll have better luck with the C150.

Why the voltage limits?

There are set limits as to the charge voltage, from 4.2v to 4.1v, cant go any lower, but WHY?!? I like to charge my batteries to around 80%-85% max (4.01v-4.08v) to preserve battery longevity, which I can do with any no-name Chinese lipo charger, but I can't with this charger. This charger forces me to charge to 90% (4.1v minimum), which a lot of times I don't need, especially with high capacity battery packs. So it's either charging to 90% and eating up battery longevity, or baby sitting the charger and disconnecting before it goes above 80%.

Works the way you would expect

Simple to setup and use. Especially easy with smart batteries but they are not necessary, and it works well with other batteries. Good flexibility in the setup of charging parameters.
