Installed on 1 Andersen 400 Series Tilt & Wash, Back to Buy 15 More Sets!
My wife and I were looking for a simple, effective, and aesthetically unobtrusive solution for the windows in our home. We have 3 little ones 4 years old and younger, and it is impossible to keep track of them all. The 4-year-old has figured out how to unlock windows, and we needed something to keep our peace of mind. Before jumping in whole hog on this solution, I thought I would buy one set and install it. When I say "set", I mean that you get 2 devices per purchase. Reading the instructions, one would think that you could get by with just the left side OR right side of your window secured, but we intend to install the locks on BOTH sides of each window for extra peace of mind. Consider it double security, we figure, and it's worth the extra money. As for installation, these could not be easier to install. Just secure the small bracket for each device in the window slide rail with the supplied wood screws (2 per bracket, 4 per window, if you use 2 devices per window like us). The screws will go through the bottom of the slide rail and into the wood frame around your window. Visually, you can hardly even notice these devices. Off white works great for us, as our Andersen windows have an off white slide rail. We are very pleased that one has to look hard to even notice these devices. Unlocking them is a little tricky, WHICH IS THE IDEA! Adults will have no trouble, but a toddler or small child would have difficulty understanding them. On our Andersen tilt and wash windows, the locks come into contact with the top of window right where the clips are located for tilting and washing. I am not concerned about this, however. The device still works as it should to stop the window from being raised beyond the level you set. So, as the headline indicates, these locking devices passed the 3 pronged test for us--simple, effective, and aesthetically pleasing. I'll now be installing them on all the windows in the house. I would recommend them to anybody considering a window locking device for double hung windows.

Works well, until kids figure them out
We already have Cardinal gates in our home, as they are difficult (nearly impossible) for kids to figure out. Now that they are messing with the window latches, we needed something to secure the windows, yet be easily removable in the event of an emergency. These are very easy to install in vinyl, and simple to operate for an adult. Unfortunately, the kids have already started to remove them as well, defeating the purpose. Maybe it's the kids age, but they still can't defeat the gate latch. I think the difference here is that the nearly all plastic construction makes them a little flimsier. That being said, they do provide security from the window being opened outside, and do work well until kids get older.

DOUBLE CHECK that it will fit on your style of window; EVEN IF YOUR WINDOW IS NEW!
It is wonderful that these have worked for so many people, but they are not compatible with my relatively new, normal windows. I have normal, run-of-the-mill, big-box-store vinyl windows at my house - installed within the last 6 years. The piece that this device is screwed into needs to be solid and flat, but on my windows it is hollow and on a diagonal. I even asked someone who is more “handyman” savvy than me to take a look at my windows and they too could not figure out any way to install them on my VERY NORMAL vinyl windows. He even watched the online tutorial of how to install them! Again, super happy they work for so many people, but as a warning, PLEASE watch the online installation video and really study the shape of the product and how it should be installed BEFORE purchasing the item. I thought I did do my studying before purchasing, but sadly they still could not be installed. Unfortunately, I purchased them, became disappointed that they did not work, and forget to immediately return them. So, I’m out $20. Product looks nice, though. Looks like the concept works well and would be easy to use. I like that it is simple for adults to manipulate, but seems like it would be more difficult for a child to manipulate (easy for an older child if they were instructed how to do it). So many window “locks” are so easy for toddlers to open, that’s why I wanted to try this lock.

Meets code requirements
I had to have something to meet code for my upstairs sunroom windows. These work perfectly. Very easy to install. Instructions were very simple for installation and usage. They prevent windows from opening more than 4 inches for safety reasons, but can be removed with a quick press of a button by an adult that knows the trick allowing windows to open fully. Can reapply stopper in few seconds to prevent opening more than 4 inches.

Simple fix!
This is exactly what I needed to limit the opening of my ground floor bedroom windows. You decide how wide you want the maximum opening to be and install the little thingy in seconds. Works like a charm!

Very satisfied
I purchased this because I have a 10 year old son who is autistic. He has gotten out of the house through one of the ground floor windows which is why I ordered these. First I must say the price is reasonable and they came very quickly. They were easy to install and two in the pack means I can secure two windows since only one is needed per window. It allows you to install it at a height where your still able to open the window a few inches to allow fresh air in. After installation I stood back to see if he could get out of the window and he couldn't. Now I have peace of mind to where I don't have to be in the same room with him at all times fearing he'll slip out one of the windows. Plus it has a safety latch you can pinch together to take the lock off in case of emergencies (he doesn't know about that)! lol

Great piece of mind!
Safety is always my priority. I wanted something to prevent potential intruders from entering my home if I leave the window cracked at night or I forget to lock a window. My downstairs windows can only be opened 3.5 inches with the lock in place. If for whatever reason, I need to open the window more, then the lock is easily removed. I have shown my children how to remove them in case of a house fire and they need to escape through a window. My 5 year old daughter can remove it with ease after proper instruction.
