What's Not to Like?

This candle is not the flickering Luminaria but for the price - and included remote - you can't beat it. Excellent deal.

Safe Candlelight

The media could not be loaded. No candles with open flame are used in my home, its just not safe. True story, I was attending a Superbowl party a few years ago. A little votive candle burned all the way to the bottom and the little metal disc in the bottom began burning and with two dozen people in the room, flames shot up and ignited the nearby draperies. We quickly put the fire out but Yikes! Candles really create a calming ambiance, and this flameless candle is the solution. This candle measures 3” in diameter and 5” tall. It has a real wax exterior so it looks and feels like the real thing, including the thinned irregular top border so it looks as if the candle has burned down a bit. Of course this fake flame is obviously fake when the candle isn’t lit, but it looks absolutely real when burning, including the random flicker. There is a small remote with controls: on/off, flicker or steady flame, low or higher light, and the ability to set a timer for 2-4-6-8-10-12 hours. The remote uses a CR2025 battery (included), and the candle requires two size C batteries, not included. In using the candle, I much prefer using the flicker feature but there is very little difference in brightness between low and high. Additionally, I find the remote rather inconsistent in turning the candle on, the off button is more reliable. It takes me about 3 presses of the button to turn the candle on. To get around this, I plan to turn the candle on using the remote, then the on/off button on the bottom of the candle will work. I probably won’t regularly use the remote. Clearly attention was paid to help protect the candle from damage in shipping. It arrived with shaped blocks of styrofoam inside the sturdy box, to prevent any movement. There was even heavy plastic film around the wax candle to protect it from scuffs. Unfortunately when being packed, this plastic apparently folded over, putting a small crease mark near the base. Additionally the top edge was also slightly damaged in shipping. While I can overlook these blemishes, it would bother me if I had intended to give this as a gift. I hope the manufacturer reads this so changes can be made in packaging to prevent this minor damage on future products. Due to the packaging and resulting defect, FOUR stars. Good fake out, good to gift

This is a nicer quality fake candle. It has four things you can set: on/off, bright/less bright, 2/4/6/8 (for 24hr cycles), and slow/medium/fast flickering. I found the change in flickering and dimness hard to discern but noticeable when toggling. This has the right amount of light in the right places as well helps if look like a real candle. The flat wobbly flame other brands have, still seems to be a better dupe, but this hits the goal pretty close. This wobbles, flickers. Just the solid shape moving vs changing like a real flame is the main look difference. The hardest thing was this uses C batteries. This height seems just right for being on its own. I've had an item change on me in the far past. At purchase this was called "Softflame Flameless Candle - 3 x 5 White - Fickering Moving Flame Pillar Candle, Includes Remote Control - Real Wax - 2 x C Battery Operated - Not Included" This is a new product, so it's description may adjust to suit the product over time.

Great flameless candle

This candle is super cute and gives off the illusion of being a real candle when you view it from a distance. I like the white color as it goes with any decor but I would like to see it offered in other colors. The remote is my only issue with this. You must be within 5 feet of the candle for the remote to work. While this is convenient that you don't have to pick up the candle to change settings, it is weird to have to get up and walk across the room to use a remote. If the remote had a longer range, I would rate this 5 stars.

Crisp white elegant realistic looking candle

After receiving another set by Softflame that I loved, I purchased these Softflame pillar candles in three sizes. I got them in 3x5 3x7 and 4x6, they each came nicely boxed and wrapped in plastic to protect the wax, with a remote and manual inside. This review is for the 3x5 size but I included pictures of all three sizes for comparison. They do not come with batteries for the candle, you have to purchase two C batteries separately. These candles have a different wick then your typical Flameless, they aren’t a flat piece of plastic waving on a wire. Its their own technology, while the wick housing moves, the light inside appears to move as well giving it a real flame affect that I feel looks closer to the real thing. These candles are a bit over priced at around $20 each depending on size but they are super nice Flameless candles they last longer than most and require less frequent battery changes.

Beautiful moving "flame"

I am very impressed with how this candle works. The flame is not like the "paper" flicker flame candles or like the plastic flame on the black wick type candles. This candle has flame made of a soft rubber like material. The light for the flame is inside the flame. It flickers and moves and looks very realistic.It comes with an upgraded remote control that works well to control the time 2/4/6/8, the brightness, the flickering, the on/off. The candle is real wax and looks absolutely beautiful. I think if you put it inside a glass pillar it would be even more beautiful. The price is a little high for a single candle, but the value is in the absolute beauty and realistic appearance. It does take 2 "C" batteries, but I am hoping that the life of the batteries is long lived. I am not disappointed in this candle and i hope to see it in different sizes. Time will tell if this new version lasts. It appears to be well constructed.
