Doubles the usefulness of my grill
Works as advertised. It really turned my grill into a griddle and then back to a grill when I want to. It’s pretty heavy so the wife probably won’t be able to move it around much. I may have saved myself about 800 bucks on one of those black rock grills. That’s what my wife wanted but I think I might get away with just having this.

Not completely as described
First of all the described dimensions are not completely accurate. The actual size of the griddle is 15-1/4" x 23-1/2" x 1-1/4", not 16" x 24" x 1" that they advertised. Also, the actual cooking surface is only 13-1/4" x 23" due to the edges and oil trap. I bought this griddle because my grill fits a 16" x 24" grate. The griddle is 1/2" too short to fit on the grill so I have to place it on the grate to use. Not too big a deal, but it should have been the actual size they advertised. I've used the griddle 5 times now and used an IR Thermometer to gauge when the griddle is at the proper temperature for what I want to cook. The griddle does not heat evenly, there is about a 10°-20° F difference at various places on the griddle. I rotated the griddle around the grill to make sure the hot/cold sports were not from the grill and got the same results. The only good thing about this that I can cook eggs and heat buns on the cooler part of the grill while cooking bacon and burgers at the same time on the hotter part without having to adjust the burners. The flat griddle side has a typical rough cast iron finish that is not optimal for cooking foods that need more of a non-stick surface. To solve this, I took a disc sander and sanded the griddle side smooth (took about 30 minutes), then re-seasoned with tallow. The griddle is now almost perfect for cooking things like over easy eggs. I haven't used the grill side yet, but will update this review when I do. All in all, this is not a bad griddle. I just wish it was the actual dimensions that were advertised and that the griddle side was smooth to start with.

Great griddle!
I have used this griddle 5-6 times since we received about a month and half ago. And I can say, it is now an inseparable part of our kitchen. Sundays are our royal breakfast days and I was looking for a large griddle so that we can cook hash browns and bacons quickly in large quantities. I have a small two burner rectangular griddle that takes left 1/3 of my cooktop, I was looking for a larger one to occupy the remaining 2/3 cooktop on the right over remaining 3 burners. I was specifically looking for LODGE brand griddle (because they are produced in the USA and quality is exceptional. All my other cast iron products are LODGE. We have boycotted non-stick and aluminium cookware many years ago. Only cast iron and stainless steel). Unfortunately Lodge does not make anything of this size. This was the only griddle that I found in the specific size I was looking for. I was bit scared after reading some reviews about how they cracked and exploded. But with no other alternative in sight, I bit the bullet and ordered this one. The product is solid, heavy. Quality is very good. The size was perfect. After sitting next to smaller recangular griddle, it fully occupies remaining cooktop on the right and hangs outside about 4 inches, which is perfect to put aside cooked items. And boy! there is so much heat! We can cook so many things so fast! My wife and I are very very pleased. I am not cast-iron expert, but many years ago I had read somewhere that cast iron does not handle rapid expansion and contraction very well. Much like glass. So it is important that you heat the cast iron cookware gradually from low heat to medium/high heat and never pour cold water on hot surface. Heat it gradually and let it cool gradually. Once it goes through a number of expansion and contraction cycles, eventually it will be able to handle rapid heating and cooling. But at least when a cast iron product is new, it should not be subjected rapid heating and cooling. I have followed this rule with all of our cast iron products. It is also possible that the units that have cracked or exploded happened to be lemon. At least the unit that I have does not show any quality control or production quality issue. It is a very well built, solid product! There is one thing about this griddle though, it is heavy. I mean super heavy!!! If it slips through hands and falls on feet, it will crush the bones. No exaggeration! I absolutely DO NOT allow my wife to handle it. I set it up, I clean it, I put it away. Because of its size and weight, cleaning is cumbersome. It is nearly impossible to clean at kitchen sink. I clean it in backyard. You should consider this part carefully before buying this griddle. Cooking is huge joy, but cleaning is huge pain! So the bottomline, my griddle is going great. We couldn't be happier.

Will probably gain weight now
I'm using this on my Weber natural gas grill. So far, I've made pancakes, hash browns, smash burgers, cheese steak, fried rice, bacon, eggs - see a trend? I've been using it a lot. I've been eating a lot too. This is cast iron and heavy. The finish on the cast iron is not the smoothest I've ever seen, but once seasoned, I was able to cook over-easy eggs. I've not had anything stick yet. I have been either using bacon grease (probably have cooked 3 pounds in the last week) or peanut oil to cook on. You can use canola, avocado, or whatever you like. I apply a small amount of oil after I clean it before turning off the heat. For cleaning, I've been using paper towels, water, and a dough scraper (ordered separate for use with the griddle, basically just search for a griddle kit and you'll find spatulas, bottles, etc that are convenient). I scrape the griddle as clean as I can, remove any debris (like cooked on food), and then apply water. This does have a trough to collect grease/food stuff. It does not drain. I use paper towels to soak up the grease or water. For my grill, I'm glad it does not drain at the bottom as I'd have a grease fire to deal with. Few other final thoughts. The griddle was not warped and is thick - seems like you'd have to really screw things up to warp this iron. It takes a little while to preheat. I light my grill and preheat this on lower to medium low. I'd recommend an infrared thermometer to find out what temp your griddle is at. My grill says high/medium/low, but those are not useful for cooking. Overall, this is a great griddle and my family is getting a lot of use out of it. Well worth the money.

Great cooking tool
This is basically a cast iron slab with grill ridges on one side and a oil well to catch run off. It's big and heavy and gives you a lot of cooking surface to play with. We bought it a couple of year ago and use it constantly, both inside on our stove and outside on the grill when we're cooking something that just works better on a large, flat or grill surface. It's fantastic for cooking a lot of something (think burgers, grilled cheese, pancakes, veggies, whatever!). It's heavy cast iron and annoying to store (it ends up living in our oven when not in use), but we love it!

Hard to find such a big boy.
Great cast iron thang. Takes up most of me stove. Non stick AF. I’ve had cast iron cookware for years, and I was impressed with the quality. Cooking up a giant thing of breakfast potatoes has never been more enjoyable. Get yourself a nice metal flipper like the burger joints have.

Fantastic quality. Easy to clean. We use it often. A super purchase. Glad we did it.
Product is very sturdy and I'd buy again if I needed a 2nd one. Covers most of the BBQ area. Cleans easy and cooks nice and even. We are very happy with it.

Cast Iron Griddle
This item holds the heat very evenly and is easily controlled by the burners. Gets better with every use.

IT CRACKED IN HALF!
Took it on my first camping trip and was cooking on it, and suddenly there was this big bang and it cracked. WTH!!! I couldn't believe it! Am waiting to hear back from Camp Chef Customer service as I'm just outside the return time frame for Amazon. On reading past reviews now, it seems this is a common thing to happen to this griddle. Such a shame as I love everything else about this griddle.
