Flapper Dress

Dress fit true to size. It was really cute on. It didn't have as much fringe ss expected at the top of Dress. The fringe kept falling off . It is a costume so it served the purpose for the occasion without little expense. Price was really reasonable.

Pleasantly surprised...

Said I would post a review when I received. Overall, this is a great costume at a low cost of entry. I am 5'7" tall & currently 207. I am pear shaped, small busted (proportionate to other places) & usually wear a size 14. This dress is loose fitting & extremely comfortable. I do feel like it could be a bit tighter, but have to remember this is a period dress & women in those days wore less form fitting ensembles. It hits me just above the knee. It is heavier than I expected. Based on other reviews, I was expecting really cheap costume material. This was a bit nicer. It is see through, but the tassels give the appropriate amount of modesty & with a body shaper as a foundation, I won't feel exposed at all. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the tassels at the neckline don't cover all the way to the top of the second row (can be seen in the pic of the model) leaving a bit more of the under layer exposed than I would like. The headpiece is also very small & flimsy. Basically a this sequins band with a tiny feather. Finally, the cigarette stick accessory was missing. None of these are deal breakers for me. This costume will be a hit at my upcoming roaring twenties party. Will be purchasing long pearls, t-strap heels and a nicer headpiece along with fishnet stockings to complete the look. I think it will serve your purposes for a themed party. If you're looking to wear it on a regular basis, maybe look for something authentic & vintage. I checked, that will run you upwards of $300. Hope that helps someone.

Swinging costume

Although the person I bought this costume for usually wears a large, we ordered an extra-large just to be sure of the fit and then we had to exchange the X-L for a 2XL. We figured that we could always take in a dress that was too large but couldn't do anything with a dress that was too small. As it turns out the 2XL fit well and we only had to hike up the shoulder straps. Despite the problem with size (just order 1 or 2 sizes larger than you need), California Costumes are nicely made, should hold up for many years and are well worth the price (some places on the Internet charge twice the price). The flapper costume comes with a sequin and feather headband. Add a garter, a long string of pearls, long gloves and a long cigarette holder and you'll most certainly be a hit at any costume party. Remember, this is a costume, not haute couture. The dress arrived 10 days after I ordered it. Another distributor's flapper costume (same manufacturer) arrived in 3 days. Since we were in no hurry for the costume, the 10 days just didn't matter. I would recommend this costume. If I didn't like the dress why would I buy 6 of them. Love the way the fringes move when we dance and that's just what we are going to do in them...dance the Charleston!

Comfortable, stylish, and flattering

Yes!! Finally a 1920s dress for plus sized women that not only fits but is flattering. I I'm 5'8", 230 lbs. and normally wear a 2x in tops. I opted to size up to a 3x and am so glad I did. The dress looks great without being too baggy. Under the arms is a bit loose but I plan on wearing a black bra and doing a little pinning to get me through. I also will have a boa so that will help as well. Some fringe has come off relatively easily but there's still plenty on the dress. So excited to wear this for a friend's 1920s themed party!!

Not the dress advertised!

It’s cute and fits plus size well. Hides all the unflattering curves which is nice. True to size. Although it is definitely not the dress advertised! This one is sleeveless and has fringes from top to bottom. I returned it and was charged a restocking fee even though it wasnt returned just because I changed my mind. Not cool.

Cute, sturdy, but sizing is off....

For the price, this flapper dress was a good deal. Dress was wel-made. All the fringe remained intact, and it definitely is not a throwaway. I did have to shorten my dress; I'm 5'3", and the hem fell below my knees. That was an easy fix, though, since the individual tiers are double stitched . Just cut above the stitching (but not through the fringe) to shorten. The sizing seemed off, though. I typically wear a size 20 blouse, but a size 14 bottom. I bought the 2X, and it was too big under the arms, yet was almost too tight around the waist. Go figure. I ended up taking in the underarm area about 1". Despite the sizing issues, I still give this dress 5 stars due to it being sturdy. Also, the included headband was pretty wimpy. Width was maybe 1", and it had one small feather. Meh to the headband....

Loved this dress

Bought this dress for 20’s New Year’s Eve party very comfortable and flattering yes a couple of the strings did come off but nothing noticeable i thought it was well worth the money would definitely recommend it

Very happy with my item

The item arrived very quick. I’m size 18 and I was a bit worried ordering a size that will feel comfortable all night. Ordered XXXL. It is comfortable! And it looks great, just a bit transparent (the material of the whole dress), but I’m sure in the night won’t be a problem.
