Missing Parts

This is a beautiful lamp and it would have gotten five stars all around, however it was missing some washers and there were no extra parts included, although the parts list said that extra parts had been included. They need to check these things better before shipping the item to the customer. After all, these lamps aren't cheap.

I like the shape and the pulls. I dont believe the shade is mica. looks and feels,like plastic.

Would have liked better quality

Was easy to assemble but the screws did not hold the lamp shade supports up. Returned it. Looking for better quality version

Fixing the light glare problem from low angle viewing

These lamps are a reasonable facsimile of the much more expensive "real thing," but they have their problems - the most glaring being, well... "glare" from the bulbs when the lamps sit on high surfaces (my tall audio speakers in my situation) and slouchy couches from across the room put the viewer's line sight under the lamp plane far enough that the light bulbs "put your eye out" as my wife put it. After mucking about with various light bulbs I finally hit upon a solution that was at first counter intuitive. Use the smaller clear filament bulbs (photo #3.) The filament itself is centered in the bulb which can keep it just above the plane of the shade, and since the bulb is not frosted there is no glare from the bottom of the bulb. Other issues are the support arms which are attached with too short screws and tend to back out when the lamp is handled. Also, one of my two lamps had a shade that was cocked a bit crooked. This was fixed by hot gluing a piece of flat toothpick to the low side of the threaded central shade support post. Like many inexpensive knock-offs from Asia there can sometimes be a little extra work involved in bringing them up to snuff, but given the low initial cost it can sometimes be worth it.

Nice Lamp But....

The lamp, for the modest price, looks pretty good, almost handsome. Not like an old antique, but nice enough for a "Mission" style room. The shade did come a bit crooked, but I might have been able to fix that. The real problem is that because it is a medium sized lamp, the twin bulb sockets rest too low under the shade. What does this mean? It means that unless you have the lamp on a very low table, you can see the light bulbs sticking out below the shade. Glare. The sockets are sideways, so the bulbs, even small 25 watt ones show below the shade. We had it on a 30" high table, and it looked great, until, that is, we sat down on a couch across the room. All you see is the glare of the bulbs below the rim of the shade. Too bad. I liked it, but had to do a return. Amazon service was great, and accepted the return, no problem. If it'll be on a coffee or side table, probably fine, and I'd recommend it..

Nice solid lamp

This is a really nice lamp. The shade is beautiful, nice solid heavy base...the only reason I gave this four stars instead of five is that the finish on the base looked a little less authentic that what I was envisioning...but really you only notice that close up. I wasn't able to put it on the tall bookshelf I planned to put it on because the bare bulbs shined (below the shade) into our eyes when we sat on our couch...so now I have it on a lower bookcase.

Fine lamp

This lamp does the job and looks nice. I've had it for a few months now and have had several compliments on it. Rather than buying an expensive antique lamp with real bronze or copper I decided to try this for a bit and I think now I'll actually keep it around. It puts off a really nice warm glow and looks great against the dark wood trim in my 1911 Craftsman home. Yes it came with a lot of styrofoam as the other reviewer mentioned but so did every lamp I've bought, it sure didn't deter from the quality of the item itself which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. I'd give it 5 stars if the base of the lamp weren't sort of painted on a wheel looking. The stripes in it are a tad bit cheesy looking up close if you really examine the finish carefully. This detail is minimal though compared to how nice the shade looks.

Poor Design

The instructions are poor and the way you attach and secure the shade is not only not clear, but once assembled, is very flimsy. The shade stays need to have a better method of securing the shade. It otherwise is attractive. I foresee issues with this lamp down the road.
