Nice Surprise
The media could not be loaded. I would like to start with this is my third coffee maker in less than 6 months. However, this one I really hopes can last longer because I really love it. When I first set up the system I was concerned because the bottom is plastic and didn't have a heating plate. Upon further inspection, I realized that it does not need a hot plate because the croft is thermal and keeps the coffee warm for you. The process of filling the tank was different. Leave the machine off and unplugged. You have to pour water into the coffee maker 2 or 3 times spacing out 4 minutes till the pot has water in the croft. So to make sure I am explaining myself correctly is that you pour a coffee pot worth of water into the machine. Place the coffee pot in its slot and close the lid where you pour the water into the machine. If you close that lid then you are going to allow the coffee or water to start flowing and can make a mess. Then after 4 minutes have passed get the pot to rinse it out and refill for round 2. I kept this process up until I had a full croft. The reason you do this is to fill the water tanks. When the tanks are filled plug in the coffee maker and turn on the machine. You have to wait 15 min for the water to warm up. When the water is hot and ready to use and fill the croft to your desired amount. Remember when you finish pouring cold water in do not close the lid because it will start brewing hot coffee. FYI, the cold water goes to the bottom of the tank and pushes out the hot water because heat rises. Oh and use the 4inch tall filters because otherwise, you are going to have grains of coffee a be unsatisfied with the coffee. maker. I was so excited when the morning came and I was making my first cup of coffee with my new mug :). The coffee began to pour and I was so excited because my cousin said Bunn is the best and I believe him! Watching the coffee drip was exciting for me because I am so picky about my coffee. I will drink it but I like my coffee hot and do not have that burnt taste of the coffee. I am watching and waiting for the last drop to drop so I can taste the coffee plus I had been without a coffee maker for over a week. I couldn't wait for that first cup of coffee to test. I poured into my cute mug and it didn't splash and it poured smoothly. So far so good. I sat down and had to wait a few minutes for my coffee to cool off. The wait for the coffee was worth it. I love coffee and I have not had a decent cup in a very long time. The coffee was rich and tasted so good I should have listened to my cousin years ago but I am stubborn. The second cup is just as good. The coffee didn't taste burnt and I was so happy. The reason it didn't taste burnt is that the croft is basically a thermos and that is how the coffee stays hot. I accidentally forgot to clean out the pot until the next day and I was so impressed that the coffee was still a bit warm. For me, I was impressed with the length of time the croft keeps the coffee warm. I have also never spent so much money on a coffee maker but I did and I am so grateful I did because the coffee is perfect and the coffee doesn't taste burnt after 30 min. I cannot express how good the coffee is and how well it keeps the coffee hot. This is the best coffee maker I have ever had and I cannot brag about it enough. I have only got to use it twice and omg I think I am spoiled. It is worth the money of not having burnt coffee. So yummy! Remember tall filters or you will have issues. It comes with some.

Fast, HOT Coffee
Just ordered our second one! The first lasted for over five years. Different technique is used than most coffeemakers- is has a storage container of very hot water so there’s no waiting for water to get hot. Thermal pot keeps coffee hot for hours! Have to use only Bunn filters tho. No problem, Walmart and Kroger sell them.

Love a BUNN
Once you've used a BUNN there is nothing better. The days of waiting hours for your coffee to brew are over. The flavor is great and the carafe keeps the coffee warm so it doesn't burn and turn bitter on a burner. I would say the carafe keeps the coffee at a warm drinkable temp for about 2 hours. The only thing that is a little annoying is the fact that there is no measuring lines on the carafe to fill with cool water that will be poured into the water reservoir. If you are making a full pot that isn't a problem but if you are making anything less than that you have to use something else to measure the water.

Very Nice Coffeemaker
****Update 9-14-15****Heating element has gone out (or some other problem that has caused the water to stop heating). This was my 3rd unit in 8 years. First one lasted 2 years, then developed a leak. 2nd one lasted 2 years then the heating element went out. This one lasted 4 years. Some would argue that is not a good record of reliability, but in general, I've enjoyed this machine and it was a good 4 year run of fast, tasty coffee. In a weird kind of way, the timing was perfect. I've been a big fan of Bunn for many years, and this coffee maker in particular, but for the last couple of months I've noticed that the coffee wasn't tasting as good. Can't really describe exactly what was wrong, just that it was not as good, even after cleaning. Maybe deposits had built up over time that were getting into the coffee. Maybe the spray head was no longer spraying properly. Regardless, I had actually decided to try something different, and I have a Bonavita 1900TS on order, and it should come in in the next day or two. Ironic that the Bunn crapped out right after I ordered the Bonavita. Almost like it knew......... ****Update 10-5-11****Unit has died (heating element apparently went out). Now out of warranty since it has been 4 years. On the one had I hate to spend $135+ to get a new one, but on the other hand, once you've had one of these things, it's hard to go back to the traditional coffeemaker. It did make great coffee for 4 years, and I loved having my coffee ready in just a minute or two. Despite the fact that I would have liked to get more than 4 years out of my original purchase, I will probably buy another one. ****Update 2-27-09**** My coffee maker developed a leak. I dusted off my original paperwork, and was very happy to see that this unit comes with a 3 year warranty. I sent it back to Bunn, and they sent me a brand new unit. Painless and relatively quick (less than a week). Yet another reason to buy a Bunn. The only thing I would mention is that I had to pay to have the old unit shipped back to them. Cost me $13 UPS, so it's not really that big a deal, but I just have this old fashioned notion that if something is covered by warranty, it shouldn't cost the consumer a penny to get it fixed or replaced. ****Original Review**** I don't see why anyone would buy a traditional glass carafe coffeemaker. The heating element scorches the coffee after about 15-20 minutes, so if you haven't finished the pot by then, you end throwing the rest away. At least I used to, until I discovered thermal carafes years ago. I really like this coffeemaker. I am a big coffee drinker, and I usually make 1 pot in the morning, 1 pot in the afternoon, and 1 pot at night. The quality of the coffee that it brews is excellent, and I like the fact that the coffee is ready in 3 minutes. A few other observations: -I have not had any problem with the carafe. No spills or dribbles, and it keeps the coffee piping hot for a good 90 minutes, and then drinkably hot for another 2 hours. I especially like the fact that you don't need to open and close the lid to pour the coffee. The lids stays in the closed position while the coffee is brewing and it stays in the closed position when you pour it from the carafe. -I have not had any problem with the basket overflowing or grinds in my coffee, but I have noticed that the grinds rise up to the tippy top of the filter, and I use Bunn filters which are a little taller than most. Although I have not had a problem myself, I can see where someone who likes an extra strong brew and adds a little more coffee might have an issue. For me it works, and I use about 10 tablespoons of coffee per full pot. -I don't particularly like the automatic feature that starts the brewing cycle as soon as you close the lid to the water chamber. I would prefer to have a button to press, but its not a huge deal for me. Like another reviewer, I can see potential disaster if I have company or overnight guests and they want to make the coffee, and I haven't briefed them on how the machine works. -Price is high when compared to the Mr. Coffee type machines with glass carafes, but I really do notice a difference in the taste of the coffee when I visit friends and they break out their $30 coffee maker after dinner. I think the price is a fair price for what you get, and although I haven't had it long enough to comment on its durability, Bunn typically makes products that stand up over time. -The entire machine does have a rather large footprint, and it is bit taller than many coffeemakers. I have alot of counter space and my cabinets are high, so its not an issue for me, but do yourself a favor and take 30 seconds to measure the space where you intend to put the machine to make sure it will fit nicely. Overall, if you're into good coffee, and you're willing to spend the money, and you're willing to overlook a few very minor flaws (see above) I would highly recommend this machine.

Love this product
I have had Bunn coffee makers for 30+ years and love them. The unit makes a great cup of coffee in about 3 1/2 minutes and the carafe keeps the coffee hot for well over 3 hours.

BUNN is the best product I’ve purchased
Coffee is ready in approximately 4 minutes and it’s hot. I love this coffee maker so much that this is the third one I’ve purchased in the past 12 years. I’m definitely never disappointed with this brand

Fast and near perfect coffee every time - for years of use
This is my second BUNN BT Velocity Brew. The first one lasted 12 years - it finally died and my immediate reaction was need to get a new one ASAP. Instead I googled reviews, talked to many people, looked around, and generally wasted a lot of time and energy (surviving with only my French press and espresso machine) For a dependable daily coffee machine with predictable quality results in a hurry - there is only one option.

Great coffee, top quality - don’t settle for less.
By far, the best coffee maker I have bought. It is well-built and gimmick free. At first it seemed odd that it keeps a reservoir of water ready for brewing, even though it is only used once daily to make a pot of coffee. So I wrote BUNN to ask if we should turn it off for the day, and they replied within hours (surprise!) and suggested I leave it on, and that it is what it is meant to do. So why have a programmable timer/clock/turn off time when it brews a pot of coffee in 4 minutes? And, the coffee stays very hot for over an hour in the thermos pot. It needs regular ground coffee, not fine, and BUNN filtres (they are taller than the standard basket filtres). If you are only brewing one or two cups, the standard basket filtre can work. Yes, this coffee maker is a bit expensive, but worth every cent.

Of course we bought another BUNN
We bought this Home Brewer to replace an old 90's Bunn commercial brewer that finally started leaking and then the element burned out. We are very happy because it brews in 3 minutes (just 30 seconds longer than our old commercial brewer). I think this Speed Brew Home Brewer is very similar to the commercial version, but in plastic and doesn't have the metal cover over the tank, but this has the convenient brew pin on the lid, so we don't have to rush to get the pot under in time, as our commercial brew was very instant and we would sometimes loose a bit of coffee on the element. The decanter does indeed keep coffee hot for 2 hours like it says, but I think it's still hot enough after 4 hours sitting.

So far I'm enjoying great coffee. I love having the thermal carafe instead ...
So far I'm enjoying great coffee. I love having the thermal carafe instead of a heated element so my coffee stays warm for hours and doesn't burn away to nothing. the coffee maker, when brewing, is very quiet so when I'm making a pot early in the morning I don't wake anyone up. The only challenge is that it is designed for a medium grind and the documentation (which is well written) indicates that a separate piece can be purchased to adjust the water flow. Tim's only comes in fine grind so I might have to get the attachment. In spite of that it still makes good coffee consistently saving me time and money from having to head down to Tim's each morning and wait in line.
