Merino wool for the win!
Love all of my Buffs, but the Merino wool ones hold a special place in my heart! I use these for running and also for backpacking. They wick moisture away great and never get stinky! The versatility they offer makes them a staple of my kit.

Great but more lightweight than midweight
Works great, warm and you can adjust it in a lot f ways. It's lightweight, so may not be the best in really cold temps, or at speed like skiing in cold temps.

Keeps me warm
I use it under my motorcycle helmet to keep me warm during my morning commute and it works good.

Lives up to its Rep!
My daughter has been a fan of these for years, and I'd made a note to hook up with one. I didn't know exactly what I was looking for and made a mistake or two in the process. Some of this type unit are pretty poorly designed and lack functionality. Once I made the BUFF connection, I've been very happy. They aren't as cheap as some others, but quality tells. This unit is a light wool that I think is well suited to biking from say 20 degrees F to 50-ish. It is quite warm for it's light weight. Of course bicycling adds its own heat, so you don't want something too thick or that blocks off some air circulation or moisture diffusion. It breaths and is comfortable with no irritation (at least to me) And as important is that it goes on smoothly and doesn't stretch out of shape like many do. Its edges are well done and don't show sign of wear or raveling. I'd certainly recommend this not only for biking, but for general wear.. I guess it's not very "in fashion" but I just push it down around my collar indoors and don't get too hot. Of course it comes off easily too, but I tend to lose things :( It's a good value given it's superior performance for me.

So soft and warm!
I pretty much own a Buff from every category. From their merino line, I have all three weights. Since I live in the PNW, I use the "light" and "medium" much more than I do the "heavy". I have only needed the "heavy" when I am camping on the mountain during the winter in windy/stormy situations after the sun has gone down. Being merino, these are super warm for their weight, and will keep you warm even if they get wet. A major plus of merino is their anti-microbial properties, which is nice when on extended trips. Either way, Buff makes quality products I can have assurance recommending to anyone. 5/5

Very handy!
Very handy to carry, or just wear on your neck. Versatile in that it can be pulled up as a hood or a balaclava. It's lightweight so not super warm, but can be used with a hat on nastier days. All in all, a worthwhile investment.

Versatile replacement for a scarf and balaclava
I needed a scarf for snowshoeing, but find them bulky when I'm wearing multiple layers. I had Buffs recommended to me as an alternative. This was amazing! As a scarf I barely noticed it, and when I needed a balaclava I was able to switch it over by just flipping the back over my head. It was completely effortless. The merino is a little scratchy, but nothing I would consider unpleasant. It stayed warm during 5 hours of snowshoeing through a sleet-filled winter storm. The sections I had over my mouth would become damp or collect a bit of frost over time--but it did not affect the warmth of the rest of the buff, and I was able to easily fold over the damp sections so they weren't even noticeable. I love this, and would purchase from this brand again.

Love It!
Purchased because it was a bit heavier than my current gaiter. I love it! Buff is exceedingly generous with their material, you will not run the risk of getting exposed anywhere due to lack of material. As with gaiters it is very versatile and holds its shape very well. Last thing, it is super soft against the skin. I would buy another one without question.

Worst buff i've ever tried, quality has dropped!
I have bought about 20 merino BUFFs over the years for myself and family and friends. For yrs, I've bought the merino buffs and loved them. Buff has now changed and it looks like they divided merino buffs into 3 categories. This mid weight one is the worst...it's so tight in constricts bloodflow in my neck. Since it's allegedly Merino, i thought, no problem, this will stretch. I've concluded this is definitely not 100% merino. I've pulled and washed and tried to even rip it and it hasn't changed form a bit. It still is the same old neck constricter. It also came with a weird chemically smell. And it doesn't have the nice feel that merino does. This is either a drop in quality from BUFF or a fake amazon acount. Do not buy. I would have returned them if it was within the window. I might be ending my yr long relationship with buff now.

Stop Looking...
(This is a cut and paste from my review of the lightweight version) ... You won't find a better neck warmer/multifunctional merino headwear. I've been weary merino everything for a long time, I've tried the same offering from 2 other (excellent) wool companies and this is the best IMO. It's not too tight, not too loose...it's just perfect. I have the light and the mid weight versions; I used the light 80% of the time as it is warm enough and actually usable 3 seasons of the year. Great for the minimalist packer. Check out the review on Pachacker.com or any travel channel on YouYube...

Great quality and comfort, not warmth
I was hoping this Merino Wool buff would've been just a bit warmer, maybe close to the Polar Buff, but it's not quite there. Still, VERY comfortable, a bit longer than the other Buffs I've bought, but that's a very good thing. Love it, as usual(except the Thermonet Buff, not a fan).

Very comfortable, not as breathable as I'd hoped
I have used this buff in a few different temperature ranges, from -20 C and windy to hovering around 0. The quality is fantastic and the material feels soft and comfortable. It doesn't wick moisture as well as I had hoped, so for that reason I don't find it useful above -10 C, but below that temperature it is very effective. I had hoped to use it for running, but it very quickly became apparent that it did not breathe well enough for that. I think I might try the lighter version of this to see if that wicks a little better.
