Perfect fit for Weber Summit 600 Series. Better than the Weber Model!

I bought this because the Weber 7404 Griddle insert is nearly twice as much $. This actually fits BETTER than the Weber. Pictures attached. There is some confusion about the dimensions of this item. Amazon says it’s 19.25” by 11.73”. The photo Amazon has in the listing says 19.25” x 11.18”. THOSE ARE BOTH WRONG! The actual dimensions are on the box the product comes in. (Picture attached) it is 11.7” x 19.2”. I measured to confirm. This means it still fits length wise on a Weber Summit 600, but is slightly wider than the Weber 7404 griddle insert. This is BETTER because the Weber insert is not wide enough! It creates a small gap between grates and griddle, as noted in reviews on the item. In conclusion, I can’t comment on the quality/use of the item yet. But I can say to any Weber Summit 600 Series owners, buy this griddle insert instead of the Weber 7404. I can only vouch for the 600, but I can’t see any reason this won’t fit better in the other models the 7404 is designed for (Summit 400, Silver, Gold, Platinum, etc.) I will update this review if I run across any problems with use/quality.

Perfectly cooked food!

I have the Broil King Imperial XLS natural gas built in double oven grill and these are such an amazing addition to a grill I already love. Never cooking on cast iron before, I dove right in and cooked a brunch in our outdoor kitchen and bar for 15 people for Sunday football. Since I never cooked on cast iron before, I set the griddles directly on the grates and they fit perfectly. I set the heat relatively low and bumped it up as needed. I cooked bacon on one griddle, sausage patties on another griddle, and blueberry pancakes on another. Everything cooked even and tasted amazing. Clean up was not hard. I scraped with a rubber spatula all the excess food, and once cool enough to take off the grates, I ran under hot water and wiped with a rag. Prior to cooking on them, I seasoned with olive oil and heated up the griddles and let them cool befor I started to cook. I highly recommend these. Have had these for almost a year now, and cook on them year round. The more seasoned they’ve become, they better they are!

Not exactly what I expected, but I should read more closely

So this grill is cast iron, and I didn't read the part about the ceramic coating. Makes me nervous to use metal spatulas on it. It has this gritty sound to it. Over a few days, it noticed the sound reducing, like I was scratching off the peaks of the coating. The cast iron is flat but not smooth so the ceramic coating is not smooth. I suspect that at some point the coating will come off [many outside reviews say it does] and then I will just scrape it all, sand it smooth and season it like any other cast iron grill. Overall I will look for a non coated grill next time.

Works best when hot.

Cooks great over gas. Pancakes. Flapjacks. Toast from France. Bacon. These all cook well on the griddle. Especially the bacon !!

Broil King - Cast iron griddle was porcelain coated which was not clear in the description

The griddle fits the grille perfectly. The primary issue is it arrived with a not so good porcelain coating and the tray that catches grease although it has a lip, the corners are notched to allow grease to flow off the griddle and down through the grill. I cooked bacon on the griddle this past Sunday morning and when I was down there was a substantial puddle of solidified grease inside the grill cart and on the ground at the left front wheel. The grease had run out of the corner of the griddle through the notch and missed the grill drip catchers completely even though I was aware of the amount of grease and was actively collecting it to prevent an overflow into the grill. This needs to have a much larger grease trap to allow for the collection of grease from meats without over flowing. This would probably work better on pancakes or potatoes in lieu of meats. The porcelain coating is fairly poor due to multiple sharp metal shards in the field of the griddle and noticeable imperfections. I will probably be returning this griddle.

Does the job but beware with the coating

The coating bubbled during searing. So beware. Other than that it fits as advertised. The eggs and other stuff I did turned out nice but I had some sticking to my food. After removing the bubbled coating I now have to take extra care of the uncoated areas cleaning it of rust from time to time. If you keep the temps low (max. 250 on th bbqs temp gauge-my guess) it should be fine.

Fits very well on my Regal. It does not look as pictured. Check out the Broil King website for the real image. It has two thumb holes to easily take it out of the BBQ for easier cleaning. The finish is ok. Was hoping for a better factory patina (seasoned) finish. Applied some Camp Chef conditioner a few times and it is looking much better.

Die Grillplatte ist super, sie passt super in den Broil King Regal hat eine tolle wärmeverteilung und lässt sich nach dem ausbrennen super reinigen. Sie ist perfekt für Burger Pattys und macht schöne Muster ins Fleisch

Nie mehr ohne

Seit ich sie habe fast dauerhaft im Regal 490 und in Verwendung. Ganz egal ob Baconstreifen, Spiegeleier, Röstzwiebeln, kleine Portionen Grillgemüse, Burgerbuns anrösten oder oder oder. Nie mehr ohne ;-)
