Perfect snug but not tight fit

Very comfortable material. Fits the head well… snug enough it doesn’t move around but not too tight and the eyehole opening is the perfect dimensions.

Comfort under the helmet

I bought this to wear under my helmet for drag racing. I love that it's light weight and breathes, wicking moisture from my skin. The bonus is the fire retardant material. Great purchase.

Worn a few times. I haven't checked the fire ressistance yet but it's very comfortable.

Too thin and scratchy to give real protection

It’s very thin. I was going to use it for welding to protect my neck and face from the reflective rays when I’m inside vessels but it’a too thin, too scratchy and too tight. And I’m a female with short hair so I don’t have a big head as I assume most buyers of this product would be men . I raced cars in my younger days and the one I used back then was soft and much thicker. I can’t imagine this would pass inspection for any racing organization. It’s not worth the money in my opinion. It’s so thin, if you were in an actual fire (fuel flare up) I highly doubt this would give you any protection.

Top Notch Balaclava!

I see a lot of misguided consumer reviews regarding tactical headgear. What a lot of people don't understand is that the #1 determining factor in how it performs is the material. Don't buy a Balaclava made out of NOMEX if you are looking for something to wear riding a motorcycle year-round somewhere with a cool and unpredictable climate. Just because it covers the majority of your face and neck doesn't mean its going to be warm. For instance the NOMEX balaclava that i'm reviewing works great in the SoCal area when i'm out shooting in the desert. Coupled with my Under Armour boonie hat it keeps my head and neck cool and shields me from shell casings, GSR, debris etc. I've purchased many warm weather balaclavas and this one is my favorite!

Very very irritating on the skin.

I needed a fire retardant balaclava for work. The material is definitely lightweight. I do not have any opportunity to test how well it keeps your face warm in cold weather because i work in a tropical climate. But the cloth material is extremely irritating to the skin. I imagine it would be just as itchy in cold climate as it is in my tropical climate. I think XGO makes a balaclava that is WAY MORE COMFORTABLE to the skin. I did not get to test the fire retardant feature of the XGO or blackhawk balaclavas because i (fortunately) have never experienced a flash-fire to my face before.
