Requires frequent cleaning and proper placement
My first mistake: putting it relatively near the hot tub I was hoping to make bug-free. At least at first, and probably forever, this tends to draw bugs to it, so if you're near there, you're actually drawing them to you, too. Follow the directions: put it about 6-8' away from where you will be. Then it works a treat. My second mistake: expecting it to be install-and-forget. They include a cleaning brush. Boy howdy do you need it. I clean it once a week, and sometimes I think I should be doing it twice a week. And cleaning it does require not just using the brush but also removing the bottom and emptying it out (every time I have some live moths in there that fly off when I do this) and also turning it and tapping it to get the rest to fall out. But that proves that it's working, right? Despite a record-setting summer of both heat and damp here in Vermont, making the bug density the highest, I have scarcely seen more than a handful of bugs by the hot tub for the whole year.

I used this on the back porch but it honestly wasn’t bad but I found that lighting the oil keeps them away more.

Disappointed. It was totally unsuccessful in zapping a bug. We tried it for days and had no results.

Great for Bugs
There were a lot of similar items but I wasn't sure which to go with. I ended up going with the name brand that I've bought in the past. I am glad that I did. The lamp did not disappoint. It attracts all the mosquitos and does a great job of making sure I don't get bit.

So far so good!
I recently moved to a rural area and with it, comes lots of bugs and critters unfortunately. My property backs into farmland, so between my property (lots of trees and shrubbery) and the farmland, there’s lots of bugs surrounding the property and of course with moving stuff into the new home, I’ve had bugs get indoors. I’ve only been using this product a few days and specifically wanted Black and Decker because I know it’s a company that sells quality products. Since using this, I’ve seen one (silverfish or centipede- I can’t tell the difference lol) bug. My basement has spiders too and I haven’t seen any crawling around upstairs since using this product. I did buy product to spray outside along with tablets to kill indoor bugs but I haven’t used those yet. This bug zapper has really worked on its own. And I’m sure combined with my other products, my home and property will be basically bug free. Great product that works- definitely recommend.

Should work for skeeters!
Hope this works for murdering pesky mosquitoes on our deck. Decided not to hang it, as the attached cord is very short and heavy and it seemed to hang sideways, not very attractive. I put it, finally, on an old plastic table and can connect the cord to the patio's fountain pump. So, in the morning, a single switch turns on both fountain & zapper, and in the evening, turns both off. Zapper comes with an attractive chain for hanging, plus a spare ultraviolet bulb. Seems like a good buy. Only 4 stars, as the short cord is disappointing and the device is very light and tippy for table use.

works great
We have tried many solutions but this item has worked the best of any yet. I put it on at night and empty it in the morning so that the captured moths have a chance to escape. The mozzies all die overnight so it is a winner. Absolutely recommend this product.

Cumple lo que promete
Si repele mosquitos, aunque no tan eficiente como uno desea, la mejor forma que encontré es encenderlo hasta 1 hr antes de ir a dormir, ya que si lo enciendesy te acuestas los mosquitos "pasan de largo" la lámpara, pero si está una hr encendido antes, si verás buenos resultados

No sirve
La compré porque en la casa entran mosquitos, la puse en la zona de la sala para poder platicar por las noches. No se van y de hecho vuelan sobre la lámpara. Creo que no les avisaron que era repelente para mosquitos. No sirve.

Las moscas las desmaya se caen pero no se mueren, los mosquitos si mata
En realidad es para matar mosquitos, las moscas solo las desmaya y se caen al fondo, se quedan atrapadas y se mueren de hambre. Una que otra despierta y logra salir como si nada.

Deberia ser más efectiva.
A veces funciona , otras no, depende del humor de los insectos. La compré para que eliminará los insectos en una recamara y no funciona. Si la pongo en el patio es más efectiva. Pienso que su efectividad es directamente proporcional a la cantidad de insectos que haya.
