Makes Great Brewed Beverages

This unit is wonderful. Best French Press Style beverage maker I have owned. The glass is of very high quality and holds heat reasonably well. The press unit is smooth and quiet, no scraping noise as with many other units. I purchased this to make tea (looseleaf teas) and it is fantastic. It cleans so easy and because it is glass there is virtually no residue left. I ran out of coffee one morning and was too lazy to put up a full pot of coffee so I used this to brew some fresh...easy as can be and very good cup-o-Joe. Cleaned it very well and am ordering another just for coffee. Very attractive unit so makes quite a nice gift.

Best pot ever and makes great coffee.

Boil water in a kettle or a different pot. Put coffee in the coffee pot. Pour boiling water of coffee grounds. mix grounds with a spoon making sure they are wet. Put top of the coffee pot on but don't push the silver lever down. Wait ten minutes and press down slowly to the bottom. Enjoy!

It works, but is cheap and looks stupid.

I love my stovetop moka pot from them, so I thought their french press would be just as good. It is a weird design and the glass is not bad but feels very thin and fragile and I get nervous putting such hot water in it. I also am confused by the cheap, flimsy plastic that makes up the top piece. Also the filter is not removable? I cannot seem to take the filter off, only unscrew the top plastic piece. Normally, a french press’s push filter should be removable so it can be thoroughly cleaned and cleared of any grounds that make it inside. This makes cleaning the apparatus to be a bit of a job. The metal that holds the glass in place is removable for some reason, but also very thin and if you do more than lightly grasp it, it bends. It works, but I could have gone to cost plus and gotten a cheap French press that was cuter and works just the same. I would recommend not getting this one.

Pretty, Practical French Press

This is really pretty kitchen product. I use it only for travelling to places where exprèsso is not readily available. But it is easy to use and clean and priced competitively

Buy a Bialetti ...I dumped my Bodum Chambord

I got a Bodum Chambord French press last year & the metal had begun to peel after only a few months. Disappointed!! I went straight to Bialetti & so very glad I did! This one immediately shows the better quality & workmanship. Its holds its heat very well & the press is so much smoother- with no grounds slipping through. (A problem I frequently had w Bodum) It’s worth the money for something that actually lasts. It would make a great gift... but this one is mine!

Good Product

I bought this to replace a similar version under a different brand. You know what...they are all very similar and really I would shop for the best price. I liked this one due to its greater amount of protective stainless material around the glass. I broke the previous one dropping it in the sink. when comparing different glass models of this capacity I found they all use the same filter mechanism, plastic strainer on the lid and so on. My wife also found that bed bath and beyond carry replacement glass carafes for a few brands. Being that the filter/plunger/top is pretty much the same across the board you can conceivably purchase a replacement carafe of different branding that will work with these top filter deals. So when I break this one I will go that route. So, in general terms, this style of press works great. I gave it 5 stars because it was the least expensive version of this type and it works like it should. IF your coffee is muddy be sure to move up to a coarser grind. The drip grinds are a bit too fine.

Rich cup of coffee

I bought this hoping I would achieve a richer cup of coffee than my Mr. Coffee drip style machine. I'm happy that it does just that! I can even use less coffee than I had to use in the Mr. Coffee machine. Course ground coffee is a better choice so that the grinds don't go through the press when pouring, although it hasn't been a big problem. The 8-cup press makes 3 big cups/mugs of coffee.

Makes fine coffee; made in China

I purchased this based on the assumption that the well-known Italian company Bialetti was still producing its products in Italy. I was disconcerted to receive this French press and see a "made in China" label on it. That said, the pot makes fine coffee and the stainless base surrounds the glass carafe, giving it extra protection and stability. The lid also incorporates a lip shield that catches any grinds that might escape the mesh plunger. So the design is excellent. There are no serving markers on the glass, so you must measure the water if you want to be certain that you are using the correct amount. The key to good French press coffee is using a great quality coffee, freshly ground by a burr grinder to the appropriate coarse grind, and also spring water and a French press with a good press mechanism. This coffee maker is perfectly adequate to the task.

Efficace

Bonne capacité pour un solo. Contrairement à ce qui est recommandé par Bialetti en grosseur de mouture (café)... même la fine passe bien (sans dépôt dans la tasse). Je suis satisfait de mon achat. Il est certain qu'il faut laver les différents composants après utilisation mais... quelle cafetière ne nécessite pas ce lavage?

The package and pics from amazon show a straight spout of the beaker, but inside model has a curved spout. The straight spout is the mainly reason I pick this press, kinda disappointed when I opened it up. If you don't mind the spout thing, it is very beautiful and sturdy. You can feel how well made it is when you hold it, it has a decent weight to it. Worth the price (I got it around CAD$40)
