Best door handles I've ever had

Bought a home a few years ago and am remodeling it to suit my needs as I get older. Since part of my job is helping homeowners make accessibility improvements to their homes, I'm aware of things that can make a lot of difference, and switching round doorknobs to lever door handles is one of them. I went to Home Depot, felt all the lever door handles they had on display and decided upon these. They feel solid and work smoothly. Installation was pretty easy with one exception: on the keyed entry levers I couldn't find in the instructions how to change the orientation of the cylinder. It was easy to find on YouTube, but to look that up interrupted my installation rythym.

Reasonable quality although Baldwin is not what it used be! This product was made in Taiwan. Lousy instructions (NONE) regarding handing and cylinder orientation

Purchased to go with the deadbolt. It’s a flat black and very sturdy metal. I now have Baldwin on all my doors and was able to match them easily. So I only need one key. Didn’t need a locksmith. Very easy to do.

Well made - HORRIBLE INSTRUCTIONS!

This is a very well made lock and the deadbolt as well. They are very nice looking but the Instructions are HORRIBLE.

Love the whole line

We have changed every external lock or nob to this brand. Once you listen to your wife installation becomes a breeze as long as you ignore her you’ll fight with it, she read all the reviews and knows where the struggle is. These locks and nobs are gorgeous in the this color it’s almost black but not quite it’s a very very dark brown, love the color. Love matching all the locks to one key it was so simple and makes giving an temporary key out a lot more secure. We can change one door lock to a different key when either work is being done or you have a house sitter. When it’s over switch that one lock back to your main key this elevates someone having an extra key and wondering if there are copies out there. We had a lot of construction done this year and after switched out all our locks as we didn’t get all the keys back. Next time we won’t have to worry about it as we will have one door keyed differently during whatever is happening and switch it backwards ensuring nobody has a key they shouldn’t or that works any longer. I totally recommend all the smart key design by this company. Beautiful sturdy and makes life easier!!!

Easy install, good looks

These were easy to install, as have been all the Baldwin locks I've worked with. I like the ease of install, the looks, and hopefully the longevity. I installed about ten of these in their various forms about three months ago, so I can't yet speak to their longevity. I'll update if anything changes.

These door handles feel sturdy and appear to be very well constructed with well fitted parts. They feature a lot of cast metal parts where cheaper units have a lot of stamped metal parts. The difference is very noticeable. Installation is a bit more complicated than what is typical of cheap locks, so I recommending reading the instructions. The square shape adds one issue in that if the fitting is miss-aligned in relation to the edge of the door even a little bit it is noticeable. I held a 12 inch ruler along the side so that it was easier to align the base with the edge of the door. That worked well. The other clever but unexpected thing is that the handles are held on with set screws that have to move outward to hold the handle in place. Normally that would require you to true the screw counter clock wise. But they used left hand threads on them. So when you turn the screw clockwise, the set screw moves outward to hold the handle in place. The trick is to ignore the fact that the set screw has a left hand thread and just turn them clockwise to tighten like you would with any other screw. For latches that have keys, it is really easy to use their Smart Key system. Once you understand the process, it takes seconds to re-key these units. I suggest that you keep the old keys so if you want to re-key for some reason you can do so. Overall I am very impressed with these latches.
