Too Big

This bag is absolutely massive; I wanted a large tote to use as a weekender instead of a more typical east-west style duffel bag, but this bag is too large for that purpose. Because it has no structure, it's impossible to leave some items inside and remain organized. I had to completely unpack the bag on my weekend trip, which felt unnecessary. (To fold and put away t shirts and pajamas for a 3 night stay? Lol why bother.) Liter volume is about 68L, which is about 20-30L more than a standard duffel. It reminds me of a giant portfolio tote an art student would carry. At this price point, I'd expect a bag to have feet, and this does not. It does fold up into a compact size for storage, which I appreciate.

Too Large For a Tote

This enormous tote from Baggallini, a company I usually adore, is simply too big to use comfortably. It's almost 28" long, seam to seam, and 18" high, not including the handles. The base measures 18" L x 10" W. (The extra 10" of seam-to-seam length comes from a design that flares outward from the base.) It probably holds as much as a carry-on suitcase, but that's not an amount I want to be carrying on my shoulder, whether using the handles or the included strap. Although it has a pocket to slip over a luggage handle, the airlines are unlikely to allow this onboard as a "personal item." If full, you'd be carrying the equivalent of a duffel bag. In a slightly smaller size, this would be wonderful. It has the Baggallini rugged construction that should last for years. It has several deep outer pockets (with no zipper closures.) Inside, it has two full-height, water-bottle shaped pockets at either end and a deep zippered pocket. The rest of the interior is wide open, which could be good for larger items but also, because of the size, difficult to find things. The black nylon exterior is a bit of a lint/dust magnet, but it can be easily wiped with a damp cloth. Skip this unless you truly need an enormous tote. It's larger than the beach bags I own. But if you want something this large, then Baggallini and its superior construction makes this a good choice. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Giant tote bag, more for travel than everyday; light-weight & durable + top quality

This is a very large tote bag of excellent quality as expected for the brand. It is much larger than a tote I would purchase for everyday use and I think of it as more for travel. The product description does provide the dimensions, but sometimes I have a hard time visualizing exactly how large something really is until I see it in person. In this case, I knew what to expect from the other reviews, so I wasn't surprised with how big this tote actually is. I ordered the black bag and the polyester fabric is very tough. There are lots of pockets so it will be easy to organize everything I will need for a short trip. The main compartment as well as all of the pockets are pockets are lined with a lighter grey fabric that complements the black of the bag, and is still feel very durable. The front of the bag has two wide pockets on the outside (they measure about 9" deep and about 12" across at the top, although due to the design of the bag, they are a bit narrower at the bottom). Each of these pockets has a sturdy snap in the center to help keep them closed, but they are the open type of pocket so of course, the contents aren't totally secure. There are two smaller pockets on the back of the tote, measuring about 9" X 9", and they are separated by a wide, sturdy band that allows the bag to be hooked over a luggage handle. I think this bag is larger than my suitcase, though... The inside of the bag is one giant compartment with pockets arranged around three of the sides. There is a very deep slip pocket at each end, and a zippered pocket that measures 9" wide by 12" deep. The zipper is a fine-gauged nylon type with a small metal pull and tab. The bag is soft-sided and does not stand on its own unless it is filled. The rectangular bottom of the bag is lightly reinforced with what feels like a fairly thin sheet of plastic. The zipper for the main compartment carries the Bagallini logo; it is a heavy-gauged nylon with a sturdy metal pull and tab. It operates very smoothly. The bag is light-weight but it is so large and can hold so many items, that it can become quite heavy once packed. The handles are made of webbing material and they are very strong and can easily hold the weight of the filled bag. They are securely attached by rivets to the front and the back of the bag. The grips are folded and fused to make holding and carrying the bag comfortable. I am only 5'4" tall and this bag is so tall that it is difficult for me to carry this bag using the handles as the bag is almost touching the floor. Forget going up or down steps. Happily, there is also a removable shoulder strap that can be attached to each end of the bag via swivel snaps to rings secured to the bag. The strap is made of the same material as the handles and is adjustable for someone of almost any height + there is a large cushioned shoulder pad. The hardware (rings, swivel snaps, slider) are all made of sturdy metal. The bag is water resistant so it holds up to all kinds of weather and it can easily be spot cleaned. It can also be hand-washed and line-dried if it becomes really soiled. At $140.00, the current price of this tote is quite high, but it is very well made and the fabric is of excellent quality. I think it is well worth the price.

Perfect outer pockets!

It’s huge! I wanted one bag. It’s never enough space. I want an entire set of needs to keep in my car for when I decide to not go home. This will keep several changes of clothing, showering needs, makeup, pillow and a blanket too. I love it. I am not sure why I never noticed it sooner. Most of my purses and bags are baggallini. They never disappoint. Outer pockets all the way around to sort and organize. Inside zipped compartment. It’s really perfect. Great find. If you want a well made big bag it’s great!
